- Author, counselor, theologian and lecturer John Bradshaw discusses his newest book, Reclaiming Virtue, the definition of virtue and how to live life with moral intelligence. Referencing his own experiences as a former seminarian and recovered alcoholic, Bradshaw takes these theological and philosophical concepts and applies them to our everyday lives. Bradshaw draws on decades of psychological, social, and theological expertise he has used in numerous lectures and previous books.
If only she could have listened and let this great man express his thoughts. He helped so many people. RIP John Bradshaw 🙏
I thought the same thing, she's got issues,he could have helped her
Patricia Gras ...hopefully you see these comments and you learned to listen...instead of constantly talking over Mt Bradshaw
Bradshaw is just wonderful. a nice man and a genius.
She just does not follow his train of thought. He truly is Master of his own emotions. Well balanced.
Great interview of John. Sure wish she didn't keep talking over him.
Jerry L.
It would have been more soothing for this listener if Patricia Gras had allowed Mr. Bradshaw to speak uninterrupted.
Great author, John Bradshow. The unskilled interviewer made the video less desirable to watch.
Healing the Shame that Binds you helped me change many many aspects of my wounded life over 20 years ago. Now, at aged 42, and many books, therapy sessions, groups, prayer and bible study, i'm joyful to announce that i have lots of Moral Intelligence and Virtue thanks to folks like you and the power of the Holy Spirit living in me. Thanks be to Jesus and our Heavenlly Father.
Justine Koukoulis I could never follow the bible as the Old Testament is just a terrible wrathful god that allowed a lot of terrible things . Slavery , stoning killing of whole villiage .. :-( I have been heaps happier since replaces religion with kindness
@@tulinbeyduz920 I don't believe in God because it's Crutch. Someone asked me what I believe then? I said myself I am the only one that can effect change.
@@BeingMe23so you have no crutches. Before you take your last breath you will be looking for a crutch.
I saw John way back in the early 90's and I've kept up with his work ever since...what a gem of a man he will be missed RIP John, RIP...
Cleaning solutions right after the talk on moral intelligence, way to go Patricia!!!!!
Her "active listening " skills are irritating
you weren't kidding
agreed.. you wonder how these losers get to the point they get to
Bradshaw is a professional, not a teenager who needs her validation/reassurance.. lol
She is not even listening to his answers. She is one thought ahead of him. She probably doesn't even realize it! :P
she's like a family guy character with her strained frown
People that grow up in a disfunction family’s are more aptly effected with PTSD in traumatic situations.
Vintage John Bradshaw as we all need him, I can't wait to get the book.
I love this man. And, glad to have been exposed to all his teachings. An honorable human being.
She's a terrible interviewer for him, she's trying way too hard !
dont be rude she didnt have much time mr.bradshaw was known to talk a lot
love watching and reading this man's stuff....I have a image in my mind of 92% of americans saying huhh whats this dude on about. What a quandary for them for him to have come from what they perceive as their ranks.
what a badass
She is annoying, always talking over Dr. Bradshaw. I love hearing any & everything he has to say, as I learn SO much, but it's distracting how she talks over him.
Prudence is a great virtue. It has nothing to do with "prudery," as prudence allows as much as it forbids. I think of it as moral good taste.
LoVe BiG JOHNNY~!!!...He's in his CasTLe noW!! with Iousha...for tea & cookies...
practice , PRESENCE,, BE Present,, Not too tight,, or Not too loose.
"The life of happiness is the life of virtue." I agree. Every pain, suffering, and desperation I have is a result of lack of moral intelligence to make the virtuous decision. Thus increase of moral intelligence leads to increase in life's happiness and all the good that will blossom.
Little to none rational thought went into your remark. The point I was making that you are unable to appreciate is that rationality is a mental schema that needs to be cultivated but our subconscious doesn't work on that level. I am sure you would make a great psychologist, "You sound illogical and irrational, get a grip on those wild thoughts and you'll be fine"
The interviewer in my opinion could have done a better job in this presentation by allowing Mr. Bradshaw talk freely without interruptions.
This lady is annoying me. She keeps interrupting him. Interviewer 101- listen more, speak and interrupt less.
This man has lived it .He's taught it; studied to be a priest and therapist.
She keeps interrupting him though
I'm glad John had the intelligence enough to talk over that narcissist
What an annoying interviewer talking over John! Sheesh….
Brilliant man, he helped no many baby boomers!!!
Our minds don't work on a rational level
Everyone has an inner moral compass, hey?
Right Right Right Right. Really Patricia
RIP John Bradshaw. You are an inspiration. May your legacy live on for all generations to come! I wish I could express my gratitude for your work and how it has changed me,my perspective and my parenting values. There are no words. I am so grateful for you!
YOGA,, the breath lets you know when you're pushing to much or Not enough. You should be able to take a Deep Breath in any Posture in life. Let go of Struggle,, but don't be complacent
Stop interrupting him!
interesting ideas, thanks
We agree with you. :-)
Absolutely an extraordinary man! I wish I could have told him personally how he changed my life. There has not been anyone who has been able to speak of shame as he did!
edit her out
When he said the missing link is emotions, I just loved him.
moral perfection in "geting angry at the right person at the right time" is easy: just don't be angry at any body any time. Jesus was the only one. turn the other cheek he said! .. that's what Jeez said
sSunbeamM of course you have to release your anger and rage in order to connect to the underlying fear and grieve. but you don't need somebody to adress it or project onto. it just inflicts fear and the idea that he deserves to be punished an motivated by fear to do or to stop something. that's no moral perfection. That'S not loving. moral perfection is: being loving ALL the time. and not decide when it's justifyed to be unloving... NEVER... and it's not about justice it'S about wheather it damages your own an others souls. every unloving act damages you own soul and the soul of the others.
it's soo fucking simple but so hard to live in Love constantly. just because we have emotional reactions because fear is still inside us (false believe systems) and needs to be corrected. everytime you choose to be angry at somebody, you chosse to avoid healing your soul and think about why you even get angry.. why fear do you want to cover? the fear of death? the fear of the death of your own children?
***** just unexpected and unmistakable demonstration of self love in my opinion feels like hatret to other people. without you being angry at all :)
anger rather shows your LACK of self-love... because you somehow feel deep inside you, you deeserve this treatment.. that's how you lost your ability to speak up and ask in that situation "honestly, do you want to die..?" or something like that... without the intention of killing somebody of course :)
that also applys (in my opinion) to the situation when somebody smiles at you and expects you to smily back (for example when somebody is flirting with your girlfriend), because you seem to have learned you deserve to get expectations towards "being happy or nice" ... but all ecpectations are unloving. a wish is not an expectation. unfullfilled expectations lead to frustration (more or less) or condescention and you get blamed for the frustration (everythign unclear(?) :) )... a wish is not like that.
I saw behind her buda.
She interrupts him: she is a terrible host and interviewer.
Yes, I completely agree. He's a legend. Its insulting to be interrupted like this!
@jkbidwell yes.
3:57 You never had an actual relationship with god. You were just going through the motions You are a humanist with no connection to your creator and therefore have to make it up yourself.
10:00
an interrupting interview
lol 500,000 my ass.
Love Bradshaw but goodness that woman needs to shut up.
18:11 chicken alert 18:12
She's too annoying. I can't watch anymore.
You're ego problems are worse then his. Pull the plank out of your own eye. Now that is a rational thought!!
Actually if you look at your comments, you can see you're the angry and need attention. The words you use show how angry you are. And obviously you need attention. Perhaps you should work on fixing your own hangups?
