I'm pretty stunned by that one new comment. I feel like time and memories in this story are like flowing water. There's a general direction of flow, but every bubble can be different.
How interesting that Aerith's original character was split when Tifa came along. One of the things I loved about the OG was the friendship between Aerith and Tifa, and how they complement each other. Now I know how it happened! Thanks for another great, instructive video.
I'm coming up with different scenes in my head for the finale of Part 3 of Rebirth, lol! I believe that Part 3 will come out in 2027, during the 30th anniversary release of the original Final Fantasy VII game in 1997. I think that both the OG and FFVII Remake merged and Sephiroth killed Aerith in our timeline. I noticed that OG Sephiroth was the one from the OG timeline in 1997, judging how he killed Aerith. It took me YEARS to figure that out! But what about the last Sephiroth in the cutscene at the Edge of Creation back in Remake? The one that appeared in Rebirth at the end with Rufus when he was puppeteering Glenn? He caught my interest at the end of Remake immediately! I'm very interested about him! I noticed a HUGE personality difference in him, too!
Something that has bothered me since this interview, and before it too, is the people that say "They are just combining the compilation lore all into one game/story so there won't be big changes" Like, by combining some of the stuff that happens in the compilation, you are bringing in aspects of the lifestream straight up saving people, Genesis in CC/Cloud in AC, not to mention what the whispers bring to the table. Now, with that said, Aeriths fate is still up in the air and if they bring in Crisis Core elements....why is it such a no go area for the planet/lifestream to give her the same treatment it gave Genesis of all people? would also make sense cause when she meets Zack in Part 3, he can be the one to mention that he saw the lifestream return someone before which triggers Zack to seek out Genesis and ask him about it. Because of the random bugenhagen lore that the reason for his long life is because he has a hint of Cetra blood (or something like that) what if Aerith gets the Genesis treatment but gives up her long life that she would've had in return just to fulfil her desire, like Genesis's desire to fulfil his SOLDIER honour, to have a normal life with her friends, with her role to play in the lifestream waiting for her. That would be a Sweet way of bringing the lore into one package. I'm sure purists will scoff at this idea but screw them. give the people a actual happy ending and have the changes be for something worthwhile, cause just leading into the Mid AC and terrible Dirge is NOT it lol. Random ramble number 26 over haha
I have been playing the many FFVII compilations as well as the original for 25 years. You never gonna please the many FFVII fans, so try pleasing as many as possible with multiple endings. Like after rebirth's ending, they can have their many arguments for years to come.

Re "other threads" - please, please, please let that be how AC is still canon without meaning sh** for the Remake trilogy! I think a lot of us, at least, have hoped that the trilogy would serve as an umbrella for the whole compilation, not just the OG, so if this is what Nomura's alluding to, sign me up. If the trilogy ends and we know it then, somehow, leads into AC and DoC....well, pardon my French but f*** that sh**..... :D
Yeah I think they've definitely given themselves that opportunity to shape the threads of the FFVII collection however they want. Can't wait to see how things look when the dust settles after Part 3. IF it actually settles, lol
@@Sector6UK IF the dust settles is exactly right I think. As soon as they went beyond the bounds of this being a straight "remake" I think they painted themselves into a corner on that front. I can't see how the end of the trilogy will be anything but divisive tbh. There's no way they'll be able to satisfy/appease everyone. It's going to take some incredibly clever and delicate writing on behalf of Nojima-san to tread a fine line between all of the disparate hopes/expectations/theories!
Nomura is what those with useless lit. degrees refer to as "an unreliable creator." Pt. 03'll be subtitled "Return" just to really stick the carrot in and twist it, before someone goes "Oh, uh, no, that's just -you know how much we love Star Wars, right?" Frustratingly, I can see room in that language used to backtrack on the whole "sequel confirmed" thing, but we know it's a sequel. We literally have two characters from the original, and beyond that, I'm not sure how much it's worth caring whether or not it's the same stage(s). And we know it takes place on Earth -sorry, "Earith" (I'll see myself out). Looking forward to the proper theory-crafting. You may've been a bit late to the summation game, but we're starving out here for some real meaty ideas going forward. 'Preciate your work.
The fact that Nomura says he doesn't think many people have been playing FF7 for 20 years shows how out of touch this guy is with the FF7 fanbase. It's no surprise Remake and Rebirth have not been the mega blockbusters they were expecting. Their disconnect with the FF7 fans who have kept the franchise alive is so obvious with comments like these.
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411it’s funny because Remake didn’t even sale poorly, in fact it sold pretty well. And as for Rebirth there are a good number of ppl simply just waiting to buy it for the PC.
1. Poor sales would mean he is correct 2. The “poor sales” you’re speaking of are non existent for Remake and only an issue for Rebirth because it’s an exclusive to a console that a lot of people still don’t have. Once the exclusivity period is over and it releases on PC, sales will once again increase. You can thank/blame Sony for the game’s “poor sales.”
....Nomura really kills me the more he speaks. Multiverse=excuse for bad, inconsistent writing. Good writing = dynamic story, characters about whom you care. I am 100% fine with changes, the OG has some dumb stuff...but an unclear story that is confusing by intention, just to mess with with people, is not clever.
I don't think multiverse immediately means bad, there are lots of good examples of multiverses in narratives. Sadly there are even more examples of bad multiverses, and I think thats what gets people worried. It remains to be seen which of the two Remake is for me.
I’m glad rebirth failed and glad I skipped it. I knew this hack would ruin it. Remake part 1 was awful and nomura making excuses for his dumb decisions is laughable. I play ff7 og atleast once a year. Nomura needs to just stick to kingdom hearts or character designer.
Rebirth didn’t “fail.” No one cares that you didn’t buy it because you have a hate boner for Nomura and you have the need to feel superior for doing so because there isn’t much else going for your miserable life

You are right if they have made these games and still think AC and dirge are worth leading into they are genuinely delusional
Didn't know about the Aerith/Tifa thing. That's crazy
Yeah there's this old character chart that shows it, I'll try to remember and send it you on discord.
