- The time has come to analyse the best female character in BLEACH, Yoruichi Shihoin. Yoruichi has a fascinating backstory during the turn back the pendulum arc, where we learn about her friendship with Urahara and Tessai, and the several positions she held within the Soul Society. Which included the head of the Onmitsukido, Captain of the second division, head of the Shihoin Clan just to name a few. In this video I cover Yoruichi’s involvement within the story including her helping Ichigo and the others during the Soul Society arc, her battle against Aizen during the Fake Karakura Town and lastly her appearances within the Thousand Year Blood War arc. So let's break down the best girl of BLEACH!

Yoruichi is a character that made me like her because of her duality in terms of her personality. She has an amazing character design both physically and mentally. Additionally her relationship and dynamic with Urahara is top tier for me.
True that. She's fiercely lethal yet knows when to stop and be diplomatic. She'd save the worlds with Kisuke yet will still give him a black eye for his duplicity and occasional perversions. She's sure someone to have at your side when things get bad.

It's funny about the thunder cat form. In the CFYOW novel, it's stated that after her fight; she wandered around asking everyone who was there if they saw her fight. If they said yes, she would slug them as hard as she could and move to the next person.
Which is silly because she never had a problem showing anyone her naked body.

What with how open she is with her body, not really caring if others see her virtually naked, it is definitely the way that she acted in that form that has her up in arms.
@@judgment5090 She was just being a baby because she's never taken the time to work with and control that form. Ichigo couldn't control his hollow form at first and it took a lot of hard work to do so, she decided to not train with it and neglect it while giving Kiskuke the ability to trigger that form if absolutely necessary. It's her fault she doesn't want to train it.

She's literally the nicest person in the series even with her past as an assassin. Her teaching Ichigo about friendship and the heart speaks volumes of her views. She then displayed the latter by using nonlethal takedowns against members of her old command when she could've easily taken their lives. And I'm sure she talked Soifon out of punishing them further for their defeat once the dust settled with Aizen's betrayel. Yoruichi is a true legacy character.
She's a great character with a good moral compass and far nicer than Soifon (not much of an accomplishment) yes, but I wouldn't call her "literally the nicest person" at all. Orihime, Hanataro, Ukitake, Rangiku, etc. are all faaaaar nicer than Yoruichi.

Yoruichi is probably one of the strongest character within BLEACH, or at least has a potential to become one. She can do Kidos, fight using Hakuda, and is considered the fastest shinigami. Unfortunately, despite her title "Goddess of Flash", she had to be nerfed by plot. 😅 Let us see her ShiKai Kubo!!!
That's why I want kubo to have alot of control over the anime so he can add what he wants & fix what he needs to fix.. He could really fix the askin fight & Make it way better

Idc how anyone feels about her “Thunder Cat” design. It was brilliant and awesome to see and to see how powerful she was. Sure, it could’ve been much less “lewd” but it was still awesome. Plus, it reminds me of how Shunko blows the back fabric off. Something this strong should break off more fabric. The only thing I wish we got to see is her using her Zanpaktou properly in both Shikai and Bankai. We definitely deserved to see that

Form was brilliant indeed, and her form was cat like.. it was just fine.. no "less lewd" needed.
I think it's absolutely fine. She is there more a cat and cats are naked so it makes sense. Normally I don't like Etchi like in Fairy Tail often shown and One Piece sometimes but in Bleach rather rare. But like I said it makes sense for Yoruichi In my opinion so I don't get it why people think this is unnecessary.

Yoruichi is a teacher to some of the best fighters in the series. She trained Chad and Orihime back when their powers first developed. She helped Ichigo and Renji achieve Bankai. Every villain who has ever fought her knew to never underestimate her. She’s always going to be a favorite of mine. I don’t find the Thunder Cat form very necessary or particularly entertaining but hey it doesn’t take away my opinion about her character 👍
Yoruichi is for me on the same level as Olivier Mira Armstrong and Balalaika, these are for me the most impressive women who have appeared in anime to date. each has its style but they are a representation of power on a scale completely different from the others in their respective works.
Yoruichi will always be that character I'm bleach that I can never see enough of anytime she's on screen or on the page instantly puts me in a good mood

In my honest opinion she doesn’t really need development. But rather like you said a deeper look into her past and the Shihoin Clan as a whole to see what made the Goddess of Flash who she is today
i heard there are a story of her and kisuke by kubo, but is only written not draw. i want to know more about her because until now we dont know her motive. kisuke can be a genius, but she was the one who choose him and support him throughout the story.

I think all Bleach fans had a collective jaw drop with Yoruichi's human reveal, whether it was manga or anime. I know my teenage self was immediately entranced. X3
And I still am! She is drop-dead gorgeous, but also genuine, fun, strong, and compassionate. Plus I adore a good tease, and boy, would she drive me up a wall in the best ways, even as a viewer.
I hope we get more of the Hell arc so we can find out what happened to her. She deserves some attention after the drop-off of the TYBW arc.

She’s so mysterious yet helpful intelligent beautiful is an amazing fighter and just such a well rounded character
Now what I am about to say is nothing but a fun head cannon theory I've been working and just want to hear what others think about it.
I always figured that Yoruichi Shihoin's Electric Cat form is her Bankai. That we know Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihoin have a great relationship with each other. Yoruichi Shihoin trusts Kisuke Urahara with her life. So I propose the idea that Yoruichi Shihoin willingly subjugated herself to one of Kisukue Urahara's experiments and this experiment I thinking of involves permanently bonding a Shinigami to their Zanpakuto. First, let me point out that when you consider what a Zanpakuto truly is permanently bonding with it isn't so far-fetched. We can also see this happening with Dangai Ichigo and with Sosuke Aizen. We also see in a flashback a much younger Yoruichi Shiohion with a Zanpakuto. I also want to take a moment to point out Kensei Muguruma who is always in Shikai release after the Turn Back the Pendulum arc so I also want to theorize that in her bonded state with her Zanpakuto Yoruichi Shihoin is also in a constant Shikai release like Kensei Muguruma. Now I want to bring up Suì Fēng and how there is a stark contrast between her Shunko and Yoruichi Shihoin's Shunko. That the lightning element that comes off Yoruichi Shihoin's Shunko could be an ability of her Zanpakuto that she is bonded to. That Yoruichi Shihoin is combining her Shunko with her Zanpakuto's lighting elemental ability. Then with all this said it does make sense that Kisuke Urahara can trigger Yoruichi Shihoin's Bankai because it is the product of his experimentation. Then I want to remark on the personality change of Yoruichi Shihoin in the Electric Cat form by addressing one Zaraki Kenpachi and point out his Bankai changed his physical features and his personality. As for Yoruichi's full-on cat form we see for the first half of the Bleach anime can be also chalked up to her Zanpakuto and its ability. I now want to draw attention to Yumichika Ayasegawa for my example and how he purposely says the wrong Release Command to make his Zanpakuto take a "false" Shikai form and how Yoruichi Shihoin could be doing something very similar with the Zanpakuto she is bonded with to take on that full-on cat form.

I think it was revealed that Yoruichi's zampakutoh is one which is inherited as the head of the Shihouin clan. She left it behind whn she got away with Urahara because she didn't want to screw her family over, leaving the sword to the next in line

Yoruichi isn't just one of the best female characters in Bleach, but all of anime.
I definitely love Yoruichi's character. The playful mood with bouts of seriousness is great for characters with tons of powers and skill. It shows their confidence in their abilities and gives them an air of mastery because she isn't bragging how fast she is, she just is faster than her opponents. Also yeah the fan service bit is very good, but never overshadows her competence and skill until that battle in the TYBW arc.
I'm a catlover, of course I love Yoruichi! And, well, the way she was drawn at the end, what can I say? It doesn't bother me at all. I found her quite feline. Lovely review...

There’s nothing wrong with her thunder cat form. You say erotic, but how many times has she been naked and revealing throughout the series? It’s not out of character at all. She’s pretty free with her body. People don’t have to like it, but it’s certainly nothing we haven’t seen before when it comes to Yoruichi.

Yes! Best girl! I loved the dynamic between her and Urahara, everyone remember the "do you want your milk after or before we talk?" xD or when he held her up as a cat form. So cute! It only got better after that in the SS Arc, she was more than just another shinigami. Whenever either one them showed up, I felt relief. You just knew they were strong and dependable. Also the women of color, not gonna lie, it makes her more of a badass than your standard. I dont even recall any other character if color besides her.

I also liked how CFYOW showed Yoruichi's deadly side in helping to set up Tokinada's death and then wanting to silence Hisagi for digging into the truth of the Spirit King's history. It really drove home her assasin noble status even with her general friendliness. She's softened that by Rukia and Renji's wedding, even agreeing with Kira that Soul Society's history is distorted and that Squad Zero officially declaring the conflict the 'Great Soul King protection War' is disgusting and disingenuous.
The SS has a lot of major problems to it and when the class division is the _smallest_ of them, it says a lot.
@@Silver-Kaitou Indeed. Conflict betweens the nobles was/is another given their propensity for sending assassins against each other as power play(Soifon and Yoruichi can attest to that). Yet again it was all about power and control right from the start so it's not really surprising.
I think if it is for the greater good of the SS and for the sake of balance, she will do anything in her power.

I wonder if Yoruichi had her Thundercat form during the Arrancar War, or if Urahara helped her develop it after being inspired by what he experienced when fighting Wonderwiese.
Yoruichi and Kenpachi is what got me into bleach to begin with. That first fight with him and Ichigo is iconic and her first appearance is iconic despite the fanservice.
Yoruichi is truly one of the best girls in Bleach with a cat like personality and her laid-back attitude she's easily one of my top 10 favorite female characters.

If not, it'd be interesting to see your take on how/why a Shinigami can actually achieve that form. (Also, I wonder if it translates in some way to Hell in maybe a 5th form???) For the people who wonder what the 4 forms are:
1. The introduction (Shikai).
2. The conquest/The enlightenment (Bankai)
As there're no specific terms for 3 & 4 afaik so here are mine:
3. The acknowledgement (When the Shinigami's hand fuses with their Zanpakuto. Only Hogyoku Aizen and Dangai Ichigo achieved this form afaik.)
4. The acceptance (4th and final form as we know, when the Soul Reaper fuses with his Zanpakuto. Only Aizen and Ichigo as Final Getsugatensho achieved this form.)

I get what people are saying about the cat form but at the same time. I think it just furthers state something that has bine stated about the character she is strong, Confident, assertive , and clever in a fight but at the same time she can be a little playful in ways that seductive and flirty no matter how crude she takes the situation. I personally like that because it breaks the mold on how a lot of Shonen ecspecaily when bleach was made on how they depict a lot of there female characters and even in a small way influenced other authors to do the same with however they depict there female characters. I know I’m working on a story we’re I created a character that very heavily influenced and inspired by her.

While it's not a design I would have chosen for Yoruichi's finale, the thunder cat form would have honestly been just fine if she'd chosen it herself. She's always owned the hell out of her own body and sexuality without letting it define who she is, so going into battle wearing nothing but lightning wouldn't be out of character. But the fact that it was forced on her and she doesn't like doing it really leaves a bad taste in the mouth - especially considering it still isn't as cool as Shunko. Hopefully they'll change the circumstances slightly in the anime adaption.
She's appeared fully nude in front of Ichigo multiple times. I'm sure she isn't too concerned about some skimpy outfit when she's bared it all before of her own free will.

@@pieoverlordOk, so it's been a long time since I even read the chapter or kept up with Bleach so I just had to go look at a few things. It's more to do with how the form transforms her mentally instead of how she looks. Yoruichi is the type that doesn't mind showing skin. As for consent, that kinda goes out the window when it's a life and death situation that can shake the foundations of their entire world. Also, even when she doesn't have her full wits about her, she still has instinct and trust around Kisuke. It's notlike he would use this form to take sexual advantage of her. She developed this form so she knew how it would look in the first place. And she knows what type of guy Kisuke is, and it shouldn't be a surprise that he would develop a way to use her like that unless it was truly a situation that called for it. Hell, he didn't even use it on Aizen or use his bankai. Clearly the stakes were a bit higher in this moment.
@@blacksunshine9995 In-universe justifications don't matter, it just feels gross to see an awesome character have her mind effectively wiped and her body almost entirely stripped by one of the people she trusts most in the world whilst she's expressly telling him not to. Had Kubo written it so that Kisuke convinced her to do it or she'd just done it of her own free will, this wouldn't be a conversation we'd be having and the story would have played out exactly the same. Even taking away the nakedness, it would feel incredibly off for Urahara to force his will like that onto his friend and equal. The exact way it does play out and how it fits into culture at large (even at the time) just doesn't feel good to read.
