Johnny had always seemed as though he had some good in him even in the first Karate Kid film. Despite his rivalry with Daniel. And of course at the end of the first film when Daniel won the tournament Johnny truly commended Daniel for his victory and displayed nothing less than good sportsmanship. Johnny's story arc is the main reason I love cobra Kai. There's a lot to love but his redemption arc and how genuine it feels really is where the show shines.
I don't think Cobra Kai has a redemption arc for Johnny or at least in a traditional sense. His arc was all about learning and moving on from his mistakes.
It's amazing how he evolved as a teacher. In Season 1, when he first started teaching Miguel, you could see he really didn't know what he was doing, and was trying to be like another Kreese. He would repeat Kreese sayings blindly. It took a while for him to realise that he isn't Kreese, and for him to find his own style as a teacher.
Johnny sometimes says the wrong things, but he's more open-minded than he thinks. It takes a lot to say that Miguel would have grown more with another master. Both Daniel and Johnny can both learn from each other and improve greatly. They just need to let go of the past.
Johnny has redeemed himself and has learned the path of becoming a true sensei. He went from someone who was lost, alone and defeated to someone who has repaired and built a new family. He’s not perfect but definitely has learned a lot from his past mistakes and tries to do better.
When I was in middle school back in '75 I was taking karate lessons. My sensai said I was doing real good. My sensai said he wanted to get me into competition. At first my Mom was a little hesitant but after she realized I wasn't going to leave it alone. She gave in. The next time I went to my Karate class I found out the karate school had closed down. There was no other karate school or anywhere I could continue my training. Never got back into it since. If I had I would have been a upper degree blackbelt by now. And kept the bullies off my back. That's always been a thorn in my side. Just wanted to share that. Have a great day everyone

One video I would like to see is what we could see from Julie serving as a Miyagi-Fang sensei alongside Daniel and Johnny for the Sekei-Tenkei tournament if the rumors of her and Col. Dugan return with her siding with Johnny and Daniel, and Dugan siding with possibly Kim, and Kreese are true including how a fight between her and Kim would go especially when comparing their styles for Kim which is Tang-So-Doo, and for Julie the fusion of Miyagi-Do Karate, and Changsha/Northen Chinese Long Fist and how the Changsha half of Julie's style will bring something new for Johnny, Daniel, and the Miyagi-Fang students to utilize during the international tournament in particular how as she learned from her sworn grandfather Mr. Miyagi, and the monks that the swift, agile, graceful movements, and swift, agile, graceful offensive techniques of Changsha can work real well with defensive techniques of Miyagi-Do.
He has a special bond with kids because he is much cooler and understands the kids. We will find out if he is a better Sensi than Miyagi in season 6. I think he will be in my opinion
I honestly think he can be a better sensei than Miyagi (although I don't know much about Miyagi). Thing with Johnny is that not only is he getting wiser, but also understands kids better and is more in touch.
Except for, you know, his actual kid. That would require him to step up and take responsibility for his actions, actually put Robby first, which five seasons in he's still yet to do.
Johnny is the karate kid. He started at the age of 12 or 14 and continued until his 3rd All valley that he loses to Larusso who only trained for like 3 months. For Johnny karate was what brought him confidence and made him who he is now. Johnny is such a great character.
Johnny was never a bad guy, even in the movie. He had no father figure except his crazy sensei who made him do crazy shit, plus peer pressure from his teammates made him become a bully. And in the tournament he wanted to fight fair but Kreese made him fight dirty, and even after all that he still humbly accepted defeat and handed Daniel the trophy personally and told him he was alright.
Cobra Kai is the show that I can relate to. Martial Arts instructors are not perfect, they have more experience, but teaching the next generation their own style is not easy, it's a challenge everyday and you can't please everyone. I taught Karate under my old Sensei's dojo for several years, and it wasn't easy, almost coming to a point a couple of times I contemplated walking out for many reasons. But what kept me there until my dojo closed up was hearing positive testimonies and that I formed a bond with all the kids there, and being a father figure to the kids, and being a part of improving their lives inside and outside the dojo. Johnny is the Sensei I can relate to more because he started training at the dojo as a shy kid and rose up the ranks as the Sesnei's top student much like I did, I started as a shy young man and rose up the ranks and became a top student earning a title Sempai. I really like that show.
Cobra Kai is one of the best written shows in all of modern day TV at the moment, we did have Better Call Saul too, but one thing that this show does so perfectly is treat legacy characters exactly how they should be portrayed by making them wise, strong and unique in their own way, and then of course there is the young new characters, the students/next generation, they treat them like they should be portrayed, young learners who look up to the legacy characters, and want to learn from them, and even have good conflicts with them when they feel that they are not helping them the way that they want them too, it feels realistic when it comes to all the characters and their roles in the franchise, even though things can get over the top because of the big battles and fights, the good acting from all the actors brings us back into reality with their story arcs.
@What is a woman?🤔 oh and I do like when characters power levels are respected, similar to dragon ball, the original Mortal Kombat timeline and a little bit of street fighter. It shows how far certain characters have gone from start to finish, with others still growing, stories like that are inspirational, wouldn’t you agree? If there is no point to a story, and things are just the way they are with no rhyme or reason, then what’s the point right?
But it was really satisfying seeing Daniel broken down to his lowest, and Daniel not being a complete ass to Johnny since he had Silver to focus on, ya gotta admit that! ;) I'm not sure if Daniel built back better but Silver was very fun to watch tormenting him.
@@mahad813 Judging by the name Cobra Kai, I would assume Johnny would be the protagonist. And I think this is more or less true for the whole first season.
I'm glad you added the Trying part at the end of it.... because it is still very rocky path for Johnny right now and he has a long way to go before he really becomes the better sensei. So he is TRYING to become a better sensei.
Of course! Johnny is awesome! Even tough i cherish Daniel, i must admit johnny is the one who most changed throughout cobra kai, a better person, and the overall most compelling character in this series!
The part about Johnny not trashtalking about Mr.Miyagi was later on confirmed in Season 5 when Johnny insisted that the dojos name be Miyagi-Do when the ppl from Sekai Taikai asked for the name.
I just wanna say that I love the "daddy love triangle" between Johnny, Miguel, and Robby xD That struggle is so relatable, f'ing attention craving kids 😆 I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen a similar parent-child triangle mirrored with Daniel and his neglected son, or maybe even with Sam (except she's clearly Daniel's favorite and doesn't lack attention). Great video. I feel like as of the end of season 5 Johnny is on his way to being a fully-formed responsible adult, but if he ever loses his endearing stuck in the 80s-ness I'll be pretty upset.
been watching for months, the character analysis of karate kid & cobra kai lore is perfect and i’ve just been enjoying every single video.Keep it up 😊❤.
My theory for season 6 sense cobra kai still qualified for the tournament Johnny may decide to take cobra kai back over with Miguel, Hawk, Robby, and Tory
IMO I feel like Johnny was always a better sensei than Daniel. He formed relationships with all students, for example Miguel, Hawk, Aisha, Bert, Devon and even Sam even though at the time she wasn't even his student (S4) Daniel I feel like was only close with Sam since she is his daughter and Robby since that was his only student for a while, I don't recall seeing a close relationship between Daniel and Chris, Demetri, Hawk and Nate. I guess he was good with Miguel though.
Hah! Probably. I remember working on this video super last minute right before the release of Season 5. I had planned on getting some sleep, but was too excited and stayed up for the release of Season 5, then crashed after I binged the season. An all-nighter, but worth staying up for.
Obviously he's learning from his other sensei's mistakes like John he's learning how important honor truly is because remember originally he didn't want Miguel to fight dirty because he kept thinking about what John made him do in The Karate Kid movie. If you don't know what I'm talking about I'm referring to Miguel's first tournament when he was fighting Robby remember Miguel was saying how Robbie has a weak shoulder and the John said I don't want you to fight dirty we can win this without you fighting dirty and they were showing you the flashback when John told Johnny no mercy and Johnny in that flashback said to John that I can finish him I don't need to fight dirty
Still weird though. Going after an injury is normal in a fighting sport. You break a nose in boxing you keep jabbing for that nose. Even in other sports it is normal. If you know a guy hurt his left foot you keep trying to move past him on his left.
By the time I'm finished with this vid I'm heading *straight* for Season 5! Also there are a number of errors in this video. 1: Saying Miguel felt special when he in fact felt like he was getting the kid gloves after Carmen and Johnny revealed they were dating. 2: Saying that Moon joined Cobra Kai
I was banned from all martial arts schools because I kept using the blinding powder technique I learned from watching blood sport and also the biting ankle and ripping hair out of the top of peoples heads technique I learned from the movie the last dragon
It’s great that the show is sticking to traditional karate in most fights and choreography instead of going towards the crazy kungfugymkata flying crazy MMA fights that modern movies are all using.
I hope by the season finale of Cobra Kai ever ends Johnny will the sensei again and Daniel as another sensei in Cobra Kai. Once they beat Terry and Mike Barnes we will what will happen season 5?
@@twinzzlers - more than likely that the creators will use the character’s unhinged side as another form of support to the primary protagonists come next season… otherwise, if they turned him bad again, that will be bad writing in the part of the creators…
I do not think that Johnny is better sensei than Daniel, but he is becoming a better sensei per se and nonetheless. Both of them are and that's the beauty of the show.
That was Piper Miguel and Johnny think they have recruited, not Moon. Moon doesn’t believe in violence, so would never join any of the Dojos. Piper agrees to join Eagle Fang Karate, but instead joins Cobra Kai because they have cool merch.
TLDR: I do what I want Long answer: Any time I do any of these videos, they will always be outdated when a new season comes out, hence why I put "as of season x." Also, considering Johnny is a mainstay of CK, it would've taken even longer to put that video out encompassing S3 - S5, and this is one of the videos I promised to put out ahead of S5.
Hawk wasn't trying against in the tryout fights for the takai tournament. As we saw with robby's fight against kenny if hawk was actually then kenny even with silver's secret technique would lose.
Honestly I wish more companies out there followed the way Johnny is doing things learn from past mistakes from yourself and from others to be better to evolve. Example look how many video game companies out there that they know that it's bad to rush a product or to scam customers with a faulty incomplete product but they keep making the same mistakes even though that there are so many examples of companies who were sued for millions and millions of dollars for such stupid Behavior but there's no companies out there who actually want to learn from those mistakes to be better! So clearly it's not just about Redemption there was no Redemption because Cobra Kai corrupted Johnny and even Johnny admitted that in season 1. Hell remember it almost happened to Daniel in Karate Kid Part 3 remember the way he treated Mr Miyagi he even broke that kid's nose at the party because he was trying to hook up with Jessica because silver put him up to it. Even look what happened to Kenny Kenny wasn't a bad kid Cobra Kai made him into a bad kid the same thing happened to Robbie. That's the thing about Cobra Kai the dojo corrupts you and makes you into a person that you're not because look at Tori she's not a bad girl when she saw Samantha was crying after she saw Miguel kissing another girl she was actually worried about Samantha but then Samantha just overreacted thinking that Tori wanted to pick a fight but she was just trying to be a good person! I mean even fans think that the show after season 1 it's looking more and more like some Outsiders reboot or something where there's nothing but teenage gang violence.
I always thought it was f***** up that William was always casted for Bully roles he never really did anything other than being a bullied in films. Remember he wasn't back to school and he was a bully he was in Karate Kid and he was a bully like I don't understand why he never did any other movies other than films where he was the bad guy!
The Biggest question..... Nobody has seemed to ask... Will Johnnysan visit Mr. Miyagi's grave..?? Possibly with Chozensan and Danielsan right there all 3 bowing 🙇♂️
Also I think daniel is VERY similar to kreese They both believe their way is the right way and they both want their students to know what their masters taught them
Great commentary but slow down talk is too fast for me at least, just an opinion. The constant use of IP in clips to get around the fact he isn't using anything original video is kind of a thumbs down.

Johnny was trying to save HIS SON! Remember no one on Cobra Kai knew Robby was his son at that point
Watching each previous season is nostalgic for some reason. Even 4.
10:29 - Johnny in Ep 10 in season 5 says Silver sucker kicked him in his case for losing the fight against Silver lol
"When hawk shows off his haircut." 💀
Johnny is the best Sensei in Cobra Kai
By the time I'm finished with this vid I'm heading *straight* for Season 5!
Also there are a number of errors in this video.
1: Saying Miguel felt special when he in fact felt like he was getting the kid gloves after Carmen and Johnny revealed they were dating.
2: Saying that Moon joined Cobra Kai
1. That was the meaning I was implying it to be - special as in overprotected/kid gloves
2. That's why I put *Piper on screen
"My 3 current best friends have all tried to kill me at one point or another, you get used to it." -Daniel LaRusso and Rick Sanchez.
I Love Your Video's Keep It Up
I was banned from all martial arts schools because I kept using the blinding powder technique I learned from watching blood sport and also the biting ankle and ripping hair out of the top of peoples heads technique I learned from the movie the last dragon
Based
Badass video btw!
It’s great that the show is sticking to traditional karate in most fights and choreography instead of going towards the crazy kungfugymkata flying crazy MMA fights that modern movies are all using.
In season 6 I feel like Daniel is gonna say to Johnny your my best friend
Yo could you please do a simulation fight with the modern Miyagi do vs the 1980 Miyagi dos and the cobra’s of the modern day vs the cobras of the 80s
S5 was great! :D
They did a pretty good roast of Jonny on StreamThis
12:04 heart-breaking. 😢
he’s became a better sensei in season 5. he is the modern miyagi
can you make a video of Kreese, Robby or Terry after season 5
liked for robby getting defeated by locker line lol
22:34 what’s the song in background?
I love Jonny Lawrence character
I hope by the season finale of Cobra Kai ever ends Johnny will the sensei again and Daniel as another sensei in Cobra Kai. Once they beat Terry and Mike Barnes we will what will happen season 5?
Mike Barnes is a good guy now
@@hanschristianben505 He could end up as an antagonist
@@twinzzlers - no. season 5 has already established Mike as a secondary protagonist now.
@@hanschristianben505 Yeah I know, but the guy is still pretty unhinged
@@twinzzlers - more than likely that the creators will use the character’s unhinged side as another form of support to the primary protagonists come next season… otherwise, if they turned him bad again, that will be bad writing in the part of the creators…
Bro you need to become a professional narrator your voice is calming and invest people
Yaaaa
It's been years since I last saw this show and the dude still has that stupid mohawk 😂
*merchandise
Why didn't you wait for season 5 to make this video? It might be outdated for some people then
TLDR: I do what I want
Long answer: Any time I do any of these videos, they will always be outdated when a new season comes out, hence why I put "as of season x." Also, considering Johnny is a mainstay of CK, it would've taken even longer to put that video out encompassing S3 - S5, and this is one of the videos I promised to put out ahead of S5.
My favorite character vhe shows people can change peak character peak show
This is a redemption arc down right.
@6:52 that's not Moon, it's Piper.
In season 6 johnny will be the second sensei to fight all the senseis (in cobra kai show not the movie trilogy)
Can you please do s5 Kenny vs s5 hawk
Hawk wasn't trying against in the tryout fights for the takai tournament. As we saw with robby's fight against kenny if hawk was actually then kenny even with silver's secret technique would lose.
Awesome love it That’s why I use the greatest of all time Johnny Lawrence is the greatest of all time
Tommy is still my second favorite. Chozen being the first.
24:47
Weh-Bummmmmmed.
So it's yin and yang. Got it.
I always thought it was f***** up that William was always casted for Bully roles he never really did anything other than being a bullied in films. Remember he wasn't back to school and he was a bully he was in Karate Kid and he was a bully like I don't understand why he never did any other movies other than films where he was the bad guy!
You do know this video could've been about half the length??
He becomes a better person
The Biggest question..... Nobody has seemed to ask... Will Johnnysan visit Mr. Miyagi's grave..?? Possibly with Chozensan and Danielsan right there all 3 bowing 🙇♂️
Also I think daniel is VERY similar to kreese
They both believe their way is the right way and they both want their students to know what their masters taught them
Locker = Miyagi + Sato > (very slightly) Chozen
Oh god that pregnancy problem 😢
Hello i have Subcribe to your RUclips Channel
Hi
I what to see Carmen and Johnny get married and krease go on vacation and tori and Sam finally became friends
Great commentary but slow down talk is too fast for me at least, just an opinion. The constant use of IP in clips to get around the fact he isn't using anything original video is kind of a thumbs down.
season 5 is more about the senseis which is great but they kinda buried hawk
1 more Hour to Gooo, Let’s Goo Season 5 is Coming
EAGLE FANG
Es lo que en la mejor en cobra kai lo que
E las películas de karate kid
En la mejor es lo que en las
BRO HE RECRUITED PIPER NOT MOON LOL
Its Because He IS The Karate Kid
He is a better sensei
