He seriously pushed him and made him embrace his weakness rather than curl up and constantly take out self pitty.
Give credit to Hawk too, he could’ve easily continued to be an insecure loser after Johnny insulted him, but instead decided enough was enough and flipped the script
To be fair, I think it's a good thing to feel sympathy for people like Hawk because if humans were made to love and respect each other, everyone should feel included; even people who were born a certain way like Hawk. We are all humans, and we all have unique, similar struggles that we're dealing with. Personally, I feel bad for Hawk, and I loved seeing him grow throughout the series. @@impalalover8030 exactly, I'm a kid and I agree. But I guess at my school bullying is non existent. If I'd get in a fight with someone my age I would just hit them with speed and sheer strength. I play football, I love the physical side of the sport, I love abusing my speed and training my arm muscles. I did have asthma at 7 yrs old, but because of my pace and aggression I put into every session/game I grew out of it at 12 years old. (Idk why but I decided to tell about my sportive side). And btw technology and games ruined basically the fighting/strength instinct of children overall. Which is kinda sad to be honest. The lack of athleticism/stamina in my grade only (I'm 14 btw ) is terrible. My fellow students start drowning in sweat after 10 minutes of general jogging. What a shit generation this is.
Johnny Lawrence is Gen X personified, sandwiched between the Boomer-led establishment and the new normal built around Millenials and Gen Z. Whenever I want my kids to know what it was like growing up in the 1980s, I just show them Johnny Lawrence.
@Ty Browne there are tough guys, sissies, and everything in between in every generation, that's not the point. My point was that there is generational symbolism in the character. To the older generation, Johnny is stubborn, disrespectful, irreverent, and uncooperative. To the younger generation, he is brash, out of touch, and embarrassing. But, to fellow Gen Xers, he represents the frustrations of coping with both the inflexible traditions and the highly disruptive changes swirling around us. So, while I or other Gen Xers may not be as hard as Johnny Lawrence (a fictional character, of course), we can identify with him and his style, preferences, frustrations, fears, and views on life, based on growing up in a similar social context.
I am Generation X personified. I was in my early teens in the mid to late 80s, just enough to say I lived through and have all my happy times in thatbdecade, then old enough to enjoy "growing up" in the nineties. Ironically, i owned and operated my own martial arts school from 1995-2010. God I miss it!! I couldnt believe how much i resonated with Johnny and everyrhing he was going through when we were introduced to him again in the fist season. I believe this show was created to have our generation reminisce about the film and thoae times, but also to have us, now mostly parents, introduce our kids to what it as like then and to try to have them experience the same excitement of this film series as we had. It really is a great story, still relative for todays youth. Great writing to capture the essence of yesteryear and of its passing, coupled with the reality of todays society.......excluding any kind of "karate gangs" and all out high school martial art fights to the death..lol. Love it!! Hope its success continues!!! I would like to Kreese, Silver and Mike Barnes do battle against Larusso, Lawrence and......fly Chozen in to assist!!!
The writing for Zabka is key to this shows success.....I love how NON PC his character is, breath of fresh air in a world of overly fluffy sensitive candy asses.

@Sixgorillionshekelswindler Shlomo Yep. One of the women he was talking to said something about

Technically the only villain is Kreese, and Silver if the rumor about Silver showing up next season as a 2nd leading villain is true.
Yeah, neither Johny or Daniel are bad people. I really like that.
Martin Scorsese once said he hates it when movies tell you what to think, and I 100% agree.
In Wolf of Wall Street (the movie he was referencing) the audience is never told "Hey, what these people are doing is BAD mmmkay?" Their behavior is just shown. Same with these characters. I don't like it when characters are just plain evil for the sake of being evil.

Why would anyone want to act in a modern day society with a bunch of assholes?
There's all these memes and internet discussions about what would happen if 80s bullies were to be in modern day society....all they have to do is watch Cobra Kai
Johnny Lawrence is the ultimate badass bully. If I was bullied I would want him to be the guy.
At least Johnny had respect and honor. Kids today are cowards who hide behind screens.
@@kaituminaro6648 he said honor, talking behind someone's back is pussy shit, even if it's an effective way to be a bully. Johnny point is he had honor and said shit to peoples faces and was ready to deal with the consequences, ie have a fight
@@kaituminaro6648 yeah it is. If you're hiding behind a screen just to say something about someone you're a coward.
Ikr
@Ty Browne That’s because Generation X was raised by women. Didn’t you see Fight Club?
Hear, hear from a fellow Generation Xer.

Shhh be quiet! The netflix squad now have the direction of the series! Dont forget netflix work under sjw guidance!
I was by no means a tough guy in the 80's but at 47 I'm in better shape than almost everyone around me and I'm surrounded by weakness what the hell happened to our country the wokeness has lead to pathetic weak people who are just nasty and unlikable Bezmenov warned us.
They did an awesome job of taking the rich kid golden haired boy and turning him into such an epic loser - and yet still empathetic enough to make us feel bad he lost the final. Also a walking advert for Coors and DUI.
@@rbruggeman7722 Yeah, it's a damn shame the world became easier to live in. If only we still lived in early America, and we worked in scorching heats with dangerous, inconsistent technology every day for very little pay. It sucks that if we get sick we have many ways to treat it instead of everyone dying from Tuberculosis. Boy, would it have been great. The people who worked in those conditions? _They_ were tough.
