What's next for Chozen?
dead
I'm not sure yet. He'll recover from his wounds from his battle with Terry, train with Daniel and Johnny (and maybe Barnes too) to gain more strength again, and get ready to deal with Kreese. I can't really guess any further details than that, other then Kreese can't remain out of prison for long since he's an escaped fugitive. I don't know yet what will happen other than that.
It's great the way Chozen redeemed himself so much since the 80s when he was young, a complete 180. Johnny, although not as much, had gradually been growing into a better person throughout the series, and is a better person than in his highschool days. Barnes improved himself too,, although he still had an aggressive side,, he is still alot more understanding now towards Daniel.. Others like Kreese and Terry haven't improved their ways at all. Terry on the surface improved his ways, but he admitted that he was only burying his true self, so it doesn't count since it was insincere. Terry has a history of pretending at times to be a decent guy but that all actually being a lie.
Marriage
I really hope this doesn’t happen but I have a feeling he won’t be a Season 6 regular like how he was in Season 5. I imagine they’ll write him off to heal his injuries in Japan
Chozen is the perfect Sensei for Tory and Hawk. I hope for more of that
Man, when he was confessing to Kumiko over the phone, I was like "Man, ya'll better not kill off Chozen."
I love how much they played into that trope to make us fearful
For real! Was thinking the same exact thing
bro he got slashed like 2-3 times how he didnt die to blood loss i was crying bro

@@schwups5580 lmao
His commitment to protecting the whole Larusso family, and not just Daniel, was so heartwarming.
honor
Yes, honor..
Chozen is a modern day Samurai.
That scene at the Cobra Kai dojo when Chozen threatened Terry Silver and warned him to back off was badass as hell.
He did it because mostly because he couldn’t save his own family in KK3
Chozen was HANDS DOWN, the GOAT of this season.
Truth. One of my greatest movie experience was watching KK2 with friends and at the climax of the fillm when he and Daniel was having that fight to the death and Daniel tried to used his Crane kick and everybody thought the fight would end like in the first film and when Chozen cought the kick everybody inside the cinema exploded with laughter and cheers. It was awesome.
He completely and absolutely stole the entire season.
It was perfect from first moment. From his "Hi Amanda-san" "(buck naked).
💯😎😎😎🙌🙌🙌 The MVP🤙😊
yea true but Daniel, last ep last scene with silver Dainel coming into Miyagi level of karate was great!
if not drunk theres no way Chozen gets distracted by a noise. he is all about FOCUS.
There is always something a character does, that they would never do, just for plot reasons
@@RamesesBolton the thing is it's the only way to allow Daniel to face his fears with Silver and allows him to put an end to the trauma that lasted for 35 years. Well the plot demands it and Daniel should be the one who finished it or there wouldn't be a character development for Daniel.
He was worried about Johnny getting hurt though. Can't blame him for worry, Terry isn't as empathetic as him...
He heard Johnny yell
I always tell how much I like the character of terry, except this season, but even at the same circumstances Chozen would have swept his ass, as he never stoped training.
When I thought Chozen died I was so sad.... Thats how I know I love the character lmao
I almost died of a heart attack when Silver caught Chozen off guard
he had the most redemption
fr
Me too man
After Daniel beat Silver, all I was thinking was what happened to Chozen 😢
How fortunate is Daniel that his three greatest bullies have become his friends and have fought for him?
IKR How Fortunate of Daniel! Lol
The benefits of showing mercy, no doubt.
Not all of his bullies tho for example Johnny's friends Tommy Bobby etc
Johnny wasn’t a bully they both had their own side of the story
@@mikyleee7500he was still a bully…
chozen’s interactions with johnny was the thing i was looking forward to the most. i love them both so much
Chozen's line "I am gasoline" was used so well. There were multiple instances when he added fuel to the fire when he tried to help, such as when he tried to calm amanda down when she was quarreling with daniel. I count at least three such instances. They're all hilarious
“I know Silver’s address” lol
Chozen softened up Silver for Daniel AND he gave the kids a great plan to protect the laptop. They owe everything to him.
Yup!
Terry couldn't beat Chozen hand to hand. Even with the sword, Chozen had him beat.
@@danlc95 If Chozen hadn't still been under the effect of the alcohol, he wouldn't have been distactable by the notice. Thereby, Terry would have lost.
@@danielhaire6677 - If Chozen hadn't been inebriated, Silver never would have gotten to the sword.
I suspect it may have been a short, decisive encounter.
@@danlc95 Silver would have begged for mercy!! Just as Chozen promised.
You can also tell that the writers are aware that Chozen is Cobra Kai's equivalent of Mr. Miyagi because he even echoes the same lines Mr. Miyagi has said throughout the KK trilogy.
Noticeable examples would be when he and Johnny were about to fight a bunch of Cobra Kai senseis and he stops Johnny, telling him "too much advantage, their dojo." (Miyagi says a similar line to Kreese regarding a fight with Daniel and Johnny inside the dojo)
Another is very heartfelt, during the phone message Chozen was making for Kumiko. “I made one big mistake. I should have taken you with me." (Miyagi says this to Yukie in Okinawa)
he also made a comment about the price of something for like 3.99 similar to myagi and the belt JC penny 3.79 or whatever the price was.
@@Johnadams20760
Eggs from Trader Joe's.
He more or less fills Mr Miyagi’s place in the narrative, but in no way is he his equal as a fighter.
@@bleedingcrystal4722 He easily can be. He's the grandmaster of Miyagi-Do, formerly of which was Mr Miyagi and his uncle. Chozen is the only one in this show who really is a grandmaster of any true style. Cobra Kai is a very watered down version of Tang So Do.
@@cchavezjr7if the show were realistic at all, then yeah, maybe, but Mr Miyagi is one of the most overpowered characters ever. If my calculations are correct based on me believing that Chozen is a few years older than Daniel(plus how old he looked in 72) he’s already a few years older than Mr Miyagi was when he beat Terry, Kreese, and Barnes without even being touched. That was Terry in a lot better shape and the Terry vs Chozen match was written in a way where the fandom will always be divided on who won that fight. The writers have stated that Mr Miyagi and Kim Sung-Yun are by themselves in the top echelon. One thing that rarely gets mentioned anoht Chozen and it was shown in 72 is that Chozen didn’t always respect Miyagi Do as he does now. He was ok taking shortcuts. Personally I have Chozen, Terry, and Sato making up the next tier after the two masters.
At first, I was so confused as to how Chozen would have helped Daniel with Terry Silver once he lost the tournament. As I saw season five, I was shocked with how much Chozen became, like you said, the older brother Daniel never had. Chozen had the eccentricity and wisdom of Miyagi, yet also had the ruthlessness and drive of Sato. This season has more than redeemed Chozen, and Yuji Okamoto nailed this role. Thank you for this amazing video, kudos to the writers and cast for this amazing show that only gets better, and cannot wait for future content!
Chosen is the only person Silver really feared up to the finale, you can see how Silver’s confidence slowly fades throughout their fight in the finale
Exactly because he knew that chozen is far more dangerous miyagi do sensei than Daniel and johnny combined together
Chosen is the Dumbledore of this universe. A very complicated past but now feared/respected by everyone
Chozen has got to have one of the best redemption stories I have ever seen, mostly because they take time with it
Chozen brought out the best in Daniel in season 5, making Daniel's payoff that much more exciting in his fight with Silver at the end.
Nothing was exciting. Awful show. Unwatchable.
Maybe it's just me, but I got some enter the dragon vibes, regarding chozen and silver's storyline.
1.) Chosen/ Bruce Lee's character both get recruited by a foreign ally to take down a evil boss, who both run a sort of empire of martial arts.
2.) Both agree to infiltrate the evil boss's operation: Chozen goes undercover as a new sensei and Bruce participates in the martial arts tournament.
3.) Both are eventually found out to be enemies, by the evil boss himself and both end up fighting off hoards of henchmen, which they both easily overpower.
4.) In the final battle with the villain and his henchmen, the main villain runs away, causing Chosen/Bruce to give chase, leaving the other heroes to fight off the henchmen.
5.) Chosen/Bruce catch up with the bad guy and corner him in a room full of weapons.
6). Both main bad guys wield a razor sharp bladed weapon, which delivers multiple cuts and scratches to Chosen/Bruce, including one on their back, while it is turned.
7.) Both protagonists claim the villain has dishonored the martial art, they both practice.
8). Both villains are ultimately defeated/killed by their tactics/weapon.
As an added side note, just like with Enter The Dragon, one of the main heroes gets their ass handed to them by the main villain, quite badly
Definitely. Its inspired a lot from enter the dragon.
@@osamamanan2723 so it's not coincidental?
Great observation!
@@danlc95 thanks!
I liked that Chozen and Johnny quickly became friends. I predict Chozen will marry Kumiko and he’ll be at the wedding. I’m tempted to say when he is he’s gonna be a ruckus but I think for Chozen’s sake he’ll behave himself.
If the sake is strong enough…😂
Friends? Act of coward!
As long as it's Pastor Bob who marries them.
@@timmyb7734 fine with me.
Johnny has always been a Coors Banquet man, but we saw in Season 5 he's started the branch out and experiment with drinks such as White Claw (which he hated). I imagine that Chozen will introduce Johnny to sake.
Chozen was the MVP of this season in every way. Close second was Johnny becoming responsible and the voice of reason
Chozen was the best Character this season can't wait to see him again next season.
I think I read this is the last season, and they're making a movie.
The movie reboot really a bad idea since the first reboot failed miserably due to the misleading title and the new reboot might not be able to bring the heat from Cobra Kai to the fullest since there are nobody that can replace how Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio relationship with each other as Miyagi and Daniel in Karate Kid series.
Having the villains of the sequels fight it out is such good fan service you don't even have to enjoy them that much to still get hyped.
Him and Silver were the standouts.. followed by Daniel
He's like a mix between Mr. Miyagi and old Johnny Lawrence.
This series has turned Chozen from my most hated characters to my one of my favorite characters in the franchise.
Exact same for me
Loved Daniel and Chozen’s friendship this season.
Chozen is the one character who we’ll ever get to a Mr. Miyagi now because of his knowledge of Miyagi-Do karate, and Tang Soo Doo, plus showing both Daniel and Johnny’s student the true art of karate which played a huge role. I was really happy Chozen finally meets both Johnny and Mike. He’s shown great character development through the franchise by even playing an uncle figure to Sam and Anthony
Thank you, and well done!
Chozen has become a real hero.
Johnny, Chozen, and Mike coming together around LaRussi.... That was an unexpected, surreal moment for me.
We despised him in Karate Kid 2, but now we love and admire our old guy from Cobra Kai. Chozen is the man💪😎👍
Worst character ever in kk2 to best character ever in ck. Yes, agree.
Daniel is basically goku and the z fighters. The ppl who tried to kill him essentially became Daniel's best friends
Bro 😂 I hate that you’re right man legit built his own z fighters from past enemies
Fr, all 3 of his enemies are now his friends. 😂
Chozen is definitely piccolo, johnny is vegeta and mike is broly. And...kreese is just classic frieza. Evil and always have a scheme of his own even sometimes looks like he gonna be on the protagonist side.
@@neerzays6771 I can see tht
@@neerzays6771 Holy fuck, this was incredibly accurate
Chozen only lost because he showed mercy. He has honor. Silver has no honor
I’m very pleasantly surprised at how good his character is. I figured he would be a character for nostalgia. For us 80’s generation, they really developed his character interesting. You understand his change and how it was realistic
I HIGHLY doubt that Chozen "knows" Tang Soo Do via learning it. He likely just has an understanding of it from seeing it used and perhaps from training against it
Chozen is a HIGH level martial artist, and the body really only moves so many ways. With a well-rounded art like Karate as his base, replicating other arts he has any level of familarity with would likely not be much of an issue.
Also, Chozen didn't lose to Terry at all. He destroyed him, and Terry attacked AFTER Chozen already won.
We're ready for Chozen & Johnny in their own series please!
Chozen in Okinawa!!😍
I never thought he could become my favorite character in the series but he definitely did.
The most OP person in the KK universe needed to be nerfed by getting him drunk to make it even a fair fight against Terry Silver.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Chozen is the ONLY person to counter the crane kick.
He knew the crane kick, he’d had known the technique
He knows the Crane Kick, that’s why he can counter it.
He is also the only person who EVER landed a hit on Mr. Miyagi-Sensei.
Bringing back Chozen was an amazing idea. I always wanted to see a sequel to number 2, the stakes were so high (life and death/honor). Really good writing in a time of abundant trash.
Chozen is the best parts of Miyagi and Sato. That's why he's such a likeable character.
Chozen fighting Terry was like Johnny in the house invasion: I did most of this XD
I think Chosen should be one of the teachers at Myagido karate in season 6 because he brings alot to the Dojo and Daniel can focus on his dealership.
They all four should be. Two defensive teachers (Daniel and Chozen) and two offensive teachers (Johnny and Mike Barnes). That feels like where it's going..
Chozen was the best character this season every single scene he took the spotlight
Chozen needs his own separate 3 part film trilogy. Hesse captivating.
Oh yes. He deserves that at least.
I legit was the happiest dude on the planet when Silver & Toguchi met for the first time ever, was on the edge of my seat for sure.
I thought Chozen died in the finale, but I relieved that he was STILL alive when Mike helped out the limo
It's not a proper homage to the '80s without a ridiculous "it was only a flesh would" final scene with light bandages over what would be catastrophic injuries.
@@ahwhite1398 today's generation it would be a cast just over a cut.
Chozen is my fav character by far now
Chozen is his own person, Mr. Miyagi lives inside Chozen.
I agree - it could start all over again with Chozen.
Chozen has definitely become my favorite character on Cobra Kai.
I hope he becomes a perm character for season 6 and he goes to Japan for the next Karate Kid movie as the new Miyagi and the new student will be part of the Karate Kid verse.
I died when Chozen said "It's just a flesh wound" and thank you for pointing out that things would have been different if he wasn't drinking before facing off against Silver.
They hit a home run with Chozen. I knew his friendship with Daniel would run deep, but his relationship with Johnny was almost as good.
Knocked it out of the park 😁
he quickly got along with Barnes too...
Chozen was only vulnerable to Terry's hits simply because of inebriation. Chozen still managed to get a critical nerve punch to the leg which almost disabled Silver and forced him on the back foot to use the Katana and rethink his strategy. Silver knew he would have no chance in hand-to-hand combat and likely reminded him of when he fought Myagi as the counter styles are very similar.
Had this been a fair fight I think Chozen would have defeated Silver using the similar methods Daniel used to take him down at the end.
Actually Daniel used Chozens method. Chozen would've ended it quicker.
@@MrSilksoul
And what style of Karate did Chozen study?
Yep,
Myagi Do Karate.
Myagi ended people’s shit a lot quicker then anyone from the Karate Kid universe. Only person that would rival him would have been his own father who he studied under.
I liked the look on Chozen's face when Anthony surrendered his egg. We've seen Miyagi give that same look of disapproval to Daniel a few times in the Karate Kid trilogy. Its the "You can do better look." Maybe Sato's rivalry with Kim Sun-Yung may go back even further. Like rival dojos. I always thought Miyagi seem to know the style of Karate Kreese taught and used.
and Anthony ended up being the one to discover the winning strategy...
Chozen is basically Mr. Miyagi if he acted like Johnny😅
I feel like Chozen has the humor like Mr. Miyagi
My favourite villain out of the originals and my favourite character out of the show 🤟
I strongly felt Chozen filled a Miyagi-type role the series may have been missing. Not in lessons about patience, per se, but in bringing an Eastern perspective to the story, which is as much a part of The Karate Kid as any of the other stuff too.
It's one thing to bring a character back, but it's another to utilize them well. How Cobra Kai uses Chozen in Season 5 made for the years best material
Chozen was for sure the highlight of the season!
"I am gasoline. Boom!"
I really do have a new found soft spot for Chozen. I saw turn into the new Mr. Miyagi in season 5. What a fantastic arch
Chozen is basically Daniel's brother.
I honestly want more Chozen and Johnny.
GOT gave me PTSD on killing characters off. When I realize they were giving Chozen so much character build I was so nervous with that phone/alley scene, as well as when Silver got that last strike at his back with the katana. Really thought they killed him off!
Haven't watched all this video yet but I just want to say that Chozen is honestly the closest thing to the character Miyagi as you can get. He was awesome and his presence definitely was needed to give some life to the role we are missing with Miyagi.
Every Season has a character that steals the show. Season 5 was Chozen’s Season!
I love the respect the show has for the OG characters while not ignoring the new ones. Disney can learn a lot from this. Also Chozen is amazing!
Exactly 💯 he is also the MR Miyagi for Daniel. I like his character so much. And he plays it so well. He or Thomas deserve am emmy
Chozen is not only the best character in this season but also a more agressive mister Miyagi. He, like Larusso’s master, has a ton of knowledge about martial arts that Larusso still has to learn but will only teach if he sees the needs. He never gives the secret of the moves he’s gonna teach Daniel or the kids and instead makes them figure it out through cryptic exercises. Like the bird egg training or the few sparrings he had with Danniel. He also goes on to demonstrate a parental/father attachment to his disciples, not necessarily obvious while training them, but we can see his bond with Sam through his advices. I really hope he gets to marry Kimiko but I wish they both settle near Johny/Daniel so that the trio of teachers stays together and probably having Larusso entrusting him with the Miyagi Do Dojo cause I truly believe it’d be a nice fitting ending for Chozen to teach the younger generation of Miyagi Do and who knows teaching them Honor like he had to while confronting the errors of his way. Anything but having him killed please don’t kill Chozen unless you’re twisting his death into fuel for the rage of the children to burst into flame, cause, Chozen is Gasoline!!!
I particularly loved Chozen's relationship with Mike Barnes. They got off on totally the wrong foot, but Chozen set it all right by...buying a couch. And you know that he paid the full two grand, because that was Mike's price for his forgiveness. Then later we see Mike showing actual concern for Chozen, displaying that not only did Mike forgive him, but respected him for being honorable. In just a couple of very brief interactions, the writers told a very tight and believable story between these two.
I love Chozen! My favorite character in Cobra Kai!
chozen never lost to silver.,.,.,period
Chozen is more like a mix of Miyagi and Sato
I would be all in for a Chozen spin off series....!! As much as I love me some Daniel Larusso, all his ex rivals are really what hypes me up about this show!
They should do a spin off series called Chozen with him training another karate kid in the inner city
Chozen is a very good adition since his master studied under miyaguis father and are of the same village and values, even though he and his uncle corrupted miyagui karate for a while
The attention to detail from the writers is extremely detailed which makes each series better and better
I love this show for taking the rivals from the old movies and creating this friendship dynamic between all three. They’re perfect compliments for each other’s personalities
It was hilarious that everyone but Daniel was REALLY into attacking Silver (while they were drunk)
Chosen stole the season for sure. Awesome job.
Chozen is badass
the writers of this series should all get a raise for a job well done.. ik I always get to wanting more after every season.. 👏🏻👏🏽👏🏼👏🏾👏🏿☝️
What really show choze change and growth is when he show mercy to stingray the old choze will beat the life out that was his mr miyagi moment
Loved the protect the egg part
Outstanding observations and insights. Most of those I also noticed. Excellent work tying them with examples from other episodes named.
He’s a great character. I wish they had shown how much better than silver he was
Man went to a club and had to check his sais. Legend.
Ok here's my theory. After KK 2 Chozen leaves Okinawa for a time and travels throughout Asia. Early on in his journey he travels to Korea where he trains in Tang Soo Do under Kim when he is still for a lack of a better term evil. Something happens during his training in Korea that makes him realize that he doesn't want to continue down the path he is going. Maybe he realizes after being exposed to true evil that he needs to change. Then after he leaves the Kim school he meets his own version of Mr Miyagi that helps him become a better person.
Him and Kumiko can always adopt.
Do you guys think someone is going to die in Season 6?
S2: miguel almost died
S3: johnny and kreese almost died
S4: no one really, but stingray ig
S5: silver and chozen almost died
S6: Kreese dies?
@Judge Jerry Poppins the show imo is gonna end on a storybook ending. Johnny and Daniel open Miyagi_Fang across the valley and world due to winning the tourement. Johnny and Karmen are gonna have a daughter and its gonna be named Ali and they move out fo racida
@Judge Jerry Poppins yeah for sure. i wouldnt say the show is light hearted anymore though, s5 was easily the darkest one so far. my guess is that miguels dad comes back and tries to shoot someone with the chekhovs gun.
When did Johnny and Kreese almost die in season 3?
Maybe Johnny came sorta close early season 3 when he was really down and out (and got beat up too by those guys in the bar parking lot he picked that fight with, and he was very drunk then too). And when he was in the hospital, the nurse looked really concerned by blood in his urine and that big mark on his back (but he left the hospital and toughed it out Johnny-style). But I don't think with any of those things, he was that close to death. And for the rest of season 3, Johnny got back onto his feet, started Eagle Fang, reunited with Ali, and was as strong as any other time in series when he was fine.
As for Kreese, I can't think of any time he was even close to the level Johnny was early season 3, he was strong as ever all season, running Cobra kai, recruiting new students (like Kyler), dealing with Tory's lowdown landlord, and kicking out the more sensitive students who had issues with Kreese feeding a mouse to a snake. Unless you count the end of season 3 where Daniel used Chozen's pressure points technique on Kreese, Daniel knocked him down but he didn't almost die. Chozen displayed that technique on Daniel too in Okinawa, it rendered your arms immobile for a minute, but it definately didn't almost kill you.
I'm not sure when Johnny or Kreese almost died season 3, maybe there's a part(s) I've forgotten about?
Cobra Kai will finally die. That's how the series ends.
@@ryanmilbrod2386 reseda to woodland hills would be the move for Johnny
There were two things I wanted to see this season. I wanted to see Chozen bond with Johnny and I wanted to see him fight Terry Silver and we got both of them. Great season!! A++
Nice analysis. If Season 6 is the end for Cobra Kai... I'd love a spin-off that featured Chozen as a mentor to a new group of students. Maybe delve deeper into his change and growth during the years between Karate Kid 2 and Cobra Kai timeline.
My all time favorite character in the show behind Johnny...and that's only after appearing in one full season. A testament to how good the writing is for this series!

It's really surreal seeing all the physical antagonists of the first three Karate Kid movies (Johnny, Chozen, Mike) team up with Daniel, the man who gave them so much trouble in their younger years, to fight the Big Bad of the season, Terry. It really shows that Daniel's, or rather, Mr. Miyage's, philosophies have affected them in some way. Johnny may be the protagonist of the series, but Chozen was the one affected by Daniel's actions the most. I love his "big brother" relationship with Daniel.
Chozen made season 5 the best ever! Never would I have ever dreamed that the villain of Part 2 would become my favorite Karate Kid character.
If you had told me season one that by season 6 Chosen would be my favorite character…
Well thought out too. And well researched.
chozen is the modern day mr miyagi
He’ll return. Seikai Tekai has been held in Okinawa in real life in the past.
Chozen and Silver were the center of attention in my opinion in season 6. I hope now to see Chozen defeat the Kreese.
Kreese would have to fight very dirty to have any chance against Chozen.
The Chozen's fight against the 6 masters is the most epic fight in Cobra Kai until today... The fight against Terry, there were many scenes with stunt, so was not so good.
In any case, you can notice that the actor is quite good as a martial artist... very perfect technique! I would love to see more Chozen's fights with a camera close to his movements. I just love it! 😍
If Chozen recovered from his injury and Tory decided to be with Miyagi Do, Chozen might make Tory to be his surrogate daughter since Tory feels a bit comfortable with Chozen mentorship during his undercover in Cobra Kai and Tory can see Chozen as her father figure since Kreese left her on her own problems.
Tory would be to Chozen, what Hillary Swank was to Miyagi.
I saw the first two movies in theaters. When they bring Chozen back and you find out that he has faithfully upheld Miyagi-do you realize the depth of what they were going for.
Chozen didn't really lose the fight and you gotta remember that he was drunk and also Silver couldn't beat Chozen in combat so cheated and used a sword and Chozen could have killed him.
Kumiko will surprise Chozen by coming out to the Valley after hearing his message and finding out he's in the hospital. Its just the easiest way to keep everyone together and makes the most sense.
I can envision how it happens: Chozen is in his hospital bed, doing better, but bored out of his mind at the hospital (maybe watching 90-DAY FIANCE again). Daniel and Johnny come to visit him and lift his spirits, and then Daniel tells Chozen he has a surprise for him. Enter Kumiko. Daniel and Johnny then discreetly leave the room so Chozen and Kumiko can have some quality minutes together, and Kumiko shows her concern for Chozen as well as expressing how proud she is of the man he has become...an honorable, valorous hero willing to fight to the death for what is righteous.
@@270yis7 I have a feeling that is what will happen.
