#cobrakai #cobrakaiseason6 What You Missed in Cobra Kai Season 5 - Развлечения
What was your favorite part of Season 5?
Everything
When Nate was revealed to be the mole in the last episode
Episode 10, 100%
Stingray’s confession
Daniel using Quicksilver.
In this era of reboots, Cobra Kai does the best job of balancing fan service, nostalgia and having compelling new characters for the next generation.
Cobra Kai does what Star Won't.
I have found one more thing that could be a reference:
S3 - When drinking together, Daniel says Kanpai, and Kumiko corrects him to say Kare.
S5 - Chozen saying Kare instead of Kanpai is what gets his disguise broken.
You left out one bit of trivia. When Kreese tells Danny he doesn’t want a greasy cousin to be his lawyer, that was a reference to “My Cousin Vinny”. A movie in which Ralph Macchio starred in and Joe Pesci played his cousin and lawyer.
I really enjoyed that film
I caught that too and laughed.
Yea that was an excellent pull!
Also missed the reference of when Johnny's clients TV also fell off the wall in Season 1.
Thank I got that as soon as he said it I cracked up everyone in my house looked at me like what kind of drugs are you on
I also loved how Danny was wearing blue to symbolize the flow of water, Johnny wearing Red to symbolize the fiery fury of Eagle Fang, Chozen wearing brown to symbolize air, unpredictable, destructive, but also peaceful and calm, Amanda wearing green to symbolize earth and the person who holds them all together
M8 ur forcin it
@@jpjuster2352 It's true though?
Very good observation
Long ago the 4 nations lived together in harmony then everything changed when the cobra kai nation attacked 😂
@@andersoncontreras183 coming like avatar..
During the “Eggs” training episode, I really liked how they gave Chozen a fast camera zoom in to close-up on him, a technique common in old kung fu movies.
And I loved how chozen taught the kids traditional Okinawan language of the dojo, for example you bow when the instructor says "rey", keep in mind I'm not spelling it correctly that's just the way it sounds LOL. And "hai" instead of "oss".
Also:
Chozen got the egg at Trader Joe's for $3.29
Just like Miyagi's JCPenny belt :')
32:09 "solidifies his child beating reputation" lol no, they're teenagers not children, no Cobra Kai character is a child they're either teenagers or adults.🤦🏽
I always liked Johnny’s arc with the pawnshop guy, it’s like they both like and dislike each other at the same time
I appreciated their most recent interaction and how it boosted Johnny's character development. Who expected for this guy to be largely responsible for Johnny growing up?
Johnny is amazing. The pandora's box dialogue with Daniel. How he accidentally hits Daniel's head with a can instead of Barnes.
My hope for Cobra Kai Season 6 when it's inevitably announced is bringing back Mike Barnes and giving him more to do. Don't get me wrong, I liked what I saw in Season 5 but I feel there's so much he could add to the story. Case in point, the Sekai Taikai, the biggest Karate Tournament in the world. Johnny & Daniel might have been regional champions but Barnes was such a fearsome NATIONAL champion that he earned the moniker "Karate's Bad Boy." If there is anyone who can prepare Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen for what's coming, it's him.
I think that we'll see more Mike Barnes. We saw more of Chozen this season so I'm thinking Mike will be back in a larger role as well.
I hope so Mike is still pretty skilled they could use his Regional Champion experience 🏆
@@GokaiRed1121 What's cool is that many of the cast are practicing Martial Artists. Including William Zabka, Thomas Ian Griffith, and Sean Kanan. Brings some realism to the show.
@@FWDSUXARSE The Only One I'm surprised who doesn't was Pat Morita Mr Miyagi RIP 🙏 himself funny how the character is the most skilled character in the Miyagiverse but the actor never trained under Martial Arts
@@GokaiRed1121 Well Pat Morita played his role very well all things considered. I tend to analyze the fighting in the show (I studied Tae Kwon Do for 6 years and still practice) and studied Jeet Kune Do so I like seeing the difference in styles portrayed on the show.
One thing you forgot to mention is that in Bad Eggs when Chozen broke Robby’s egg, he used the same type of spear he used in karate kid 2
Oh yeah, good point. I forgot about that, literally flew right over my head.
When I saw that I wrote Did your Sensei teach fight with Spear forgetting the other part of the comment
Chozen was literally the funniest person in this season
I figured Episode 2’s title was a double entendre/play on words being “Mole” like you mentioned but also “Molé”, a sauce in a Mexican dish
Tory was a mole for cheese also
Ok I wasn’t the only one who thought Molé at first.
@@anotherperson6146 Glad I’m not the only one lol
Yeah I also noticed the sauce reference.
It’s def mole in spanish
Definitely the best season (so far)
Chozen being amazing. I love the little nod that sai were traditionally used as defense against swords (and occasionally break them which I wish he did tbh)
Barnes had great development and lines as well. My favorite being after Johnny said "I did most of this" with just a casual "yeah you did" and the painting line was great too
The bonds forged by all of the rivals, both old and new generation, made me really happy
correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he snaps the top off of silvers katana right before he gets "killed". I'm aware he's alive at the end but for the sake of story I said killed
@@michaelbecker2435 Oh I didn't catch that. But I meant straight up like down to the tsuba destroy the sword. I'll have to rewatch
Agreed, couldn't have said it any better myself. This season made me cry the most, tbh.
I also like Barnes' lines after the fight, it shows how much he has grown since his karare kid's days, he doesn't want to take credit, as he might have done previously. He is a better man now.
Finally someone commented about the whole Chozen using sais
Remember when Jhonny's friend says "I thought you guys broke up"
And another one of his friend replies "well she did he did not"
And when demitri says "I thought you guys were keeping things platonic"
Hawk replies :"She did he did not"
I would also like to add Mike Barnes stealing the Rembrandt was a callback to Johnny stealing the statue from his step dad.
Johnny and Daniel becoming real friends and then allies, and then Miguel and Robby burying the hatchet is truly the best part of the season.
Nobody
Stryfe: in this scene we see Miguel drinking water this mirrors the scene in the 2nd movie where Daniel drinks water
Seeing Mike Barnes again was crazy.
All they need now is Julie...
@@reikun86 Fr plz
I loved seeing Johnny, Chozen and Mike Barnes all in the same scene with Daniel.
The TV falling off the wall is an easter egg too, Johnny has done this in every season
Wouldnt be surprised if next season Johnny would have fight in cinema only to destroy the entire screen.
I'm trying to remember if and when he did it in S4? 🤔
@@darthmong7196 If that's the season Johnny and Carmen get together, then they knocked the tv down while they were making out. :D
@@reikun86 That was season 3. Remember, he met with Ali the day after.
@@darthmong7196 Oh yeah. You're right.
I think there is a scene is Season 4 where the tv falls off the wall, but I can't remember when it happened.
10:07 Sam fighting her dark side made me think of Jet Li’s The One were he fights his evil doppelgänger
Reminds me of that K.C. Undercover fight when K.C. had fought her stand in that pretended to be her for that same reason.
This season became the greatest of all time when Daniel Johnny and Chozen were all dancing having a blast 🤣
Daniel and Silver's hero and villain dynamics reminds me of Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Both Fisk and Silver have power and money, and they tried to destroyed both Matt and Daniel, both physically and mentally
When I was a boy...
16:46 Daniel tells Johnny "you opened the Pandora box" which is a reference to greek mythologies when Pandora and Epimetheus receive a box the they shouldn't open by Hermes and Pandora opened the box even with Epimetheus's protests
It's a very common expression bruh
No shit sherlock 😒
@@cokesloth 🤫
Yes... and that one episode where Daniel says "good morning" was a call back to that part in the original karate kid where he also says "good morning "
😂😂😂😂😂
Man you're reaching even more than the guy who made this video
"It's time to put pandora back in her box" - Johnny Lawrence😂😂😂
I really liked the interaction between Chozen and Tory. I've said that Julie Pierce should be the one to mentor Tory but after watching the scene were Chozen tells her about honor I strongly feel that he would be the better mentor for her.
I wish Mike had told Silver: "Your karate's a joke!"
Imagine if mike solos everyone and then has one of silver's sensei at his mercy and silver says " let him up punk" and mike goes " what are u his mother"
I like how they made Mikes style like some sort of speeding juggernaut
@@thebullseye8524 I would like to see that, that'll be funny.
THIS SEASON WAS SO GOOD OMG!
😐
@@FelixlovesGod W felix
This season is ok
Some interesting things to add: the dojo logo Sato has from KKII and here is apparently a Goju Ryu logo (the IRL Okinawan Karate style founded by Chojun Miyagi, whose photo is again seen later). The sandbag training has them condition their fingertips with spear hand thrusts, old school training. Later, "the Silver Bullet" is actually based on a very old school Okinawan Karate fist with protruding fingers to thrust the smaller knuckles at soft body parts. In this case, it's the solar plexus.
Also
During the Tery vs Daniel fight in the final episode, Daniel used traditional Karate techniques (most notably the Knee Block and the U-Punch) which circles back to Miyagi-Do being influenced by traditional Karate style Goju-Ryu with a mix of (modern Karate) Shotokan
@@rhenpenada2424 Yeah definitely caught that Yama Zuki (U punch/mountain punch). That and the block were definitely Goju in style. don’t really see any Shotokan as a Shoto Karateka myself. But others on YT have said there’s influence from other styles like Shito Ryu and Uechi Ryu. In terms of modernity, yeah lots of modern round kicks, spinning kicks and acrobatics too. Those aren’t necessarily Shotokan exclusive though.
@@rcbmmines4579 Yama-zuki and the Knee Block can be seen in Shotokan Katas Basai Dai and Heian Sandan respectively, but you're right they're not exclusive to Shotokan.
I just geek out so much as a Shotokan practitioner whenever I see techniques from our katas are being used HAHAHA
Also, they've been doing a lot of Kanku/Kushanku Dai ever since season 2
@@rhenpenada2424 Oh yeah for sure but as a Shotokan Karateka myself, our Yama Zuki is different from what he did in that scene. The higher hand goes overheard and the body leans forward. Ironically, I think the Cobra Kai/Eagle Fang guys do have more similarities to Shotokan because of Tang Soo Do’s roots. Which is probably where Sam got it last tournament.
how has nobody realised the easter egg where hawk goes “she did he didn’t” in ep7 when demetri miguel and himself mention him and sam is a reference to the beginning of the first movie where johnny sees daniel and ali on the beach and tommy says “she did he didn’t”
bro sees a strand of hair and says this is a reference to mr miyagi losing his strand of hair during a battle in 1987.
Agreed, Chozen was great this season. He's got jokes, wisdom, and you get to see him let loose in more ways than one. Good to know there's still some writers in hollyweird that remember how to make likeable characters.
I think the kreese therapy scene is the best moment in the whole show
My goodness, these incredible creators must have watched all 3 KK movies 100's of times and do their homework practically flawlessly, and the amazing quality of this show proves that a countless number of times!! What a Season 5 and Cobra Kai show!!
As far as Season 6, still holding hope Julie can make an appearance. 5 senseis, 3 cobra Kai, 3 Myiagi-Do.
Also I’d like to see Next Karate Kid get some love.
Sammmmme
Two things. I like how Stingray was playing "Judas" by Fozzy, which is the entrance for Chris Jericho in All Elite Wrestling. Martin Kove actually attended a taping of AEW, and also had a few segments during the show where he was coaching prominent wrestler Britt Baker. Second, the scene where Sam fights herself in the sensory deprivation chamber reminds me of the scene in Naruto Shippuden where Naruto is forced to face a dark version of himself while meditating near the waterfall.
I also realized...John Kreese IS either "Judas" or THE COBRA.
An amazing season. I love Sam being called out honestly.
When did she get called out?
@@markwarner619 When Miguel told Sam that it must've been hard for Stingray and Tory to admit about what happened. Especially in the dire circumstances that they were in. That she didn't really know who they are or what their life is like.
@@00AgentKrabie kinda like, "oh she tried killing you but that's ok, we must accept her now, no questions asked. She did break into your dad's home, harassed the hell outta us, was the main bully and an enviously insane azz b****, but hey! she's all better now, so you're wrong for RIGHTLY questioning her and her intents and motives." kinda thing.
And this is from Miguel that almost was murdered by Robert, yet with Robert it was the same damn thing! That did NOT make sense to me. After doing what they did, for safety reasons of the other kids, they would not have come back.. and if somehow down the line they are lucky enough to do so so later, they'd better not only make amends by apologising and fixing the wrongs they done, but also proving they're changed and their repentance is real and no joke.
Everyone has problems, some worse than others, we all struggle through life, but it's NO excuse to act like a murderous bully and a no class jerk towards other people. So you see, Tory and Robbie AREN'T my favourite characters at all.
How they compare scenes from previous seasons and the films is pretty unique in a way.
Johnny: breathes
This guy: this is actually a knot to when mr miyagi breathed in karate kid 2
I love the throwbacks by Tery Silver to karate kid 3. When he did that smug smile and said ''you like that huh'' i stood up an CLAPPED
Could also make a case when Sam confronts herself in that chamber and sees herself in that cobra kai uniform that it's a nod to Star Wars when Luke confronts the dark side
Great breakdown Stryfe. I noticed everything you noticed in exception to the title of episode 6, that I didn't know so I am glad to learn something. I am glad my prediction was correct, the one which was so important to me- Mike Barnes an enemy of Terry Silver and CK. Just not in the way I imagined it, it's so cool they flipped the script with him. I will say that I was sad for him about the store burning and that he lost his money. I felt him. Only in my dreams came across my mind, that we will see all 3 of Daniel's worst nightmares working together to take down the big bad. And it was brilliant! And in the end it was Mike to save Johnny's and Chozen's life. I was so afraid when Silver won I was like "Please Chozen don't die. Please you can't die!" And drunk Chozen was able to get the upper hand on sober Terry. Imagine if Chozen was at his best he would never lose. It proves what we already knew, although Chozen lost he is still the strongest beast in the franchise.
You didn't mention that "Eye of the Tiger" is also a song by Survivor.
This is a great review, connecting the older movies and episodes. Great job!
Daniel covering the black eye with glasses is what he did, karate kid 1 when Johnny beat him up
I just finally binge season 5 the amount of fun and joy and overwhelming emotion I had for this season was amazing just damn good show!
STRYFE THE WARRIOR: 😊😊This a really great breakdown. I love all of your video's. The way that you break things down and make comparisons in ways that I never saw before. You are very talented my friend
Thanks for the breakdown, man. I can see you put a lot of work into it. However, many of these "callbacks" seemed like a real stretch. I was waiting for you to say, "In this scene, Chozen takes a breath in order to breathe, just like Mr. Myagi took breaths in order to breathe in the movies."
Still, I enjoyed the video.
lol.
I thought I was the only one😭 but that was a perfect way to put it
I loved all the references that differentiated between karate in mainland japan, and Okinawa and korea. Japan has traditionally looked down on Okinawa. Chozen taught the kids how to bow when he says the correct command, and also how to reply in the affirmative with "hai" instead of "oss". I loved those details that differentiated between the cultures.
You did an amazing job! Such hard work! Wow!
A lot of the scenes that you mentioned don’t have anything to do with past scenes. Johnny’s radio? Just because he hit the guy with the radio doesn’t mean to have a link with him breaking Ali’s radio on the original movie.
Yeah this guy's a little ridiculous ...
He definitely mentions some cool stuff that I missed but yeah, so many of the things he mentions are just straight up plot points without any added analysis, or "Easter eggs" that are clear reaches. I mean, c'mon, Tori asking Kreese if there is an "end game" to his plan is a reference to Avenger's Endgame? I literally burst out laughing after he said that so matter-of-factly.
Avengers didn't invent the term end-game, my guy.
Mine fave has to be Stingray jamming to Judas. Which he sees himself as. He betrayed his sensei just like Judas did for 30 pieces of silver or for silver.
Wow nice
I love how they added some humor to the otherwise serious tone of the series. I never thought Chozen could be this funny.
Awesome review!!!
Dude great breakdown of the show just awesome
Beautifully done
Very good. You nailed it.
Cobra Kai is one of the few consistantly quality pieces of entertainment out their. Glad to see it ain't stopping anytime soon.
You earned a subscribe, this was the best easter egg/reference video for Season 5 I've seen.
this probably took so long but was soo good this deserves a sub and like. great great job.
This show is so amazingly written, one giant love letter to karate kid fans it was approached in such a smart way starting with the other sides prospective, and its obviously not just a cheap cash grab.
I don't think this show would work as well without William Zabka and Ralph Macchio at the helm. They have shared almost 40 years of working on the Karate Kid, and you could tell they look back on that point of time with great fondness.
@@reikun86 oh definitely I love how Johnny is the main character and we see things from his perspective but also get that old rivalry we all loved in the older movies
15:44 Amanda and Jessica Andrews cousins. This is a small world after all
Chozen stole the show this season
Not really lol
@@isaiahyounggod2723 no?
@@antmanatthemoment7233 they all played their role, Kenny actually stole the shit especially with that bullet punch
@@isaiahyounggod2723 yeah true, but I found chozen particularly entertaining
@@antmanatthemoment7233 no he was great he is great but Kenny stole it cuz he's a villain get me. Next season chosen and the right characters will WIN the international valley which means they will win the show
Wow you thoroughly identified every single reference, nod, and Easter eggs. 👏👏
Excellent breakdown.
I didn’t pick up on some of those. Thanks for another good video.
Keep up the great content
Great review
Am I the only one who caught the cactus in Johnny’s escape room…entirely up of Coors Banquet cans?!?
You weren't, and I loved it. As for the escape room itself, Johnny's attempts to do something helpful are so endearingly weird. Wasn't the cactus there because the theme of the room was Young Guns?
This feels like rewatching the whole season again... but different. Thank you.
"Shrimpo Sensei" makes me laugh every time. 😆
You earned a like+subscribe because of the first 10 seconds. Because that was my reaction troughout s5 :D
My neighbour called me and asked why I was screaming, ESPECIALLY for the last episode.
This is such a great show!
Man this was such a freakin good season!!!! I cant stop watching vids like this we want more!!!!!!
sir you are amazing disceting the whole
Chozen vs Dugan in a bullring is in waiting
My friend, you missed the detail that Miguel saving Robbie from Cobra Kai is also a subtle call back to Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz switching sides to miagi fang in the season three finale by saving Dimitri from Cobra Kai
Thanks for subtitles.
Greetings from Poland 😉
I pulled this up on my playlist just so I could watch it. I just finished season 5 and was not disappointed! This is great content...
After going to this video, holy crud I did not realize there were so many call backs... I don't know all of them were intentional but the story practically wrote themselves
Chozen being Tori's teacher might be perfect
I saw Mike saving Johnny more as a resemblance of Hawk saving Demetri in season 3. Same move as well - Side kick on one opponent to a roll toss on the other who happens to hold the defendee
BADASS
I don't know if I have a favorite part as it all mostly worked for me. The only thing I took issue with was Mike not being more involved in the final battle. Mike Barnes was good this season & Sean Kanan was a welcome return, as was the biggest shocker for me: Jessica Andrews. She being Amanda's cousin & the one who set them up was a welcome surprise. I also like how she explained to Amanda that Terry Silver is that bad & helped her realize that Silver got in Daniel's head & never left.
I also loved all the parallels. Thomas Ian Griffith killed it this season (as well as last season & KK Part III). With his mentoring Kenny, there appears to be a glimmer of goodness in him & had he not been led down the wrong path, he could have been just as honorable & good a sensei as Miyagi & now Chozen. Speaking of Chozen, his expanded role is also terrific. I like how the 3 KK villains became Daniel's allies/friends & they went to Terry's place together. Such a great series.
That scene with Jessica and Amanda was excellent. Watching as Amanda learns, no, this isn't just Daniel being obsessive and yes, the stakes are real was great.
Totally enjoyed the past seasons!! Please continue
Very good actors & martial arts skills
The bigwigs from Sekai Taikai would surely have noted the refereeing was off during those matches
He missed the My Cousin Vinny Reference in the prison. " A real lawyer not one of your greasey cousins"
I love that every time a TV is knocked off the wall there aren't any cables attached to them...no HDMI cables, not even a power cable. My favorite "strike" was the time Kim used her ponytail to whip Sam in the face @ 28:42 of episode 10...lol.
Your attention to detail and efforts here and obvious passion for this world is amazing.
Thank you so much for putting this all together.
Question. Did they hire another teenage actor to play Anthony in series 4 & 5 as he was very fat in season 1?
Also Robby and Johnny finally go on a real father/son trip alluding to season 1. Robby lied to his school about being on a trip with his father and then when the two of them talk he says he had to improvise because he didn't know what an actual father/son trip would look like.
Chosen and Kreese I think we're the all stars this season. They really took it to the next level.
I only got one prediction right, Johnny telling Robbie to go pick up his half brother Miguel from Mexico. I wish Johnny's gang showed up, but there is one more season where Dutch can get his probation redemption and Julie Pierce makes a cameo with Mike Barnes one last time. Big relief for Chozen.
I hope he didn't say half brother, since Johnny married Miguel's mother he's Miguel's step brother.
Loved them bringing back the wheel. I missed the original Miyagi-do team these last couple seasons
Chozen was my most anticipated character to come back, and he did not disappoint. Fro me, the best character in the show. I love how he still carries a torch for Kumiko, but is very hesitant to make a move because of what happened decades ago. It shows that his love for her is real and pure, and he cares for her a great deal.
Listening to this makes me want to watch season 5 again, but I must maintain discipline and wait to binge on New Years eve.
Season 6 here come Julie, still missing one person.
In the last episode, Johnny Knocks out Odell referencing when Jake Paul knocked out Tyron Woodley
Hahahaha😂
Chozen's fight against the sensei candidates was also a reference to Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury because:
1. Both characters fought and beaten multiple opponents while surrounded in a dojo.
2. Both never broke a sweat.
3. When both of them ended their fight, both of their respective characters threatened the senseis in their own words.
Chen Zhen (Bruce Lee's role in Fist of Fury): This time you're eating paper. Next time it's going to be glass!!!
Chozen: You cross line, you will beg for mercy!!!
4. Both left the dojos like bosses.
Also when Mike Barnes sells a Blue Suede can also reference in KKIII he raised the stakes on Daniel and Jessica for the Bonsai tree while the actual episode he raises the price on Chozen in buying the sofa.
i loved it when the girl kick the boy in the nuts he says my Mc nuggets i started laughing and crying 🤣
“Yubitsume"
This part
I know about tekken footage in cobra kai, but YAKUZA? Sign me up, me wanna see that!
16:12 Nice clip choice lmao
