One tip for all you guys...try to maintain accuracy of 95+ ..certainly it will decrease the initial speed but help you in long run..
Aw man I wish I had mentioned this! You're absolutely correct. I had to spend some time working on my 80% accuracy before I tried to type faster haha. Definitely not the thing to neglect- thanks for dropping the comment! 🔥
thats right prath, good job
Yeah i am doing
Tbh, my typing speed was always around 87-97 wpm at about 98+ accuracy
That, with only 3 fingers
Can't seem to increase my speed though
@@Rayzerow it's actually two finger game and one on space..this strategy is not a good pick in long run better learn touch typing and if possible go with Dvorak keyboard layout (not recommended for absolute beginners)

2 months since 55 wpm, i am stuck at it.
I was 40 words per minute one week ago and now I am 48 to 50 words per minute.
I used to type 40 WPM before learning Touch Typing and then my speed gradually decreased to about 20 WPM, but after 3 months of practicing it, i am at 70-75 WPM now
It's definitely worth it- all about the long game! Keep it up 🔥
Man same, except that I'm not at the state of 15wpm with touch typing...
damn when i started about two months ago i was at about ten or eleven and know im averaging about forty to 50 wmp
Yes after I learnt touch typing my speed decreased too....but it is slowly increasing....
Hey listen im nt getting 1 thing in ma mind that what course of typing is providng to us by tutors ,thy also advise nvr to look at the keyboard ,So any bdy wud specify me how it varies from that type of typing ? Evry one is showing thy reached 30 to 90 ,23 to 60 bt if sme learng from 0 level then how he wud reachd at 30wpm within 30 days of time

@@davidblame2480 We all start somewhere! Just focus on getting a few WPM and keep practicing, just like typing out this comment 🔥
My touch typing journey:
WPM before touch typing: 45
Started to learn touch typing during mid August
WPM during August 2020: 30
WPM during September: 45
WPM during October: 50
WPM during November: 55
WPM during December 2020: 65
EDIT: I just hit 113 wpm on a 60s test on monkeytype as of 3rd June 2021 :)
Current WPM: 115 wpm
I use monkeytype, tenfastfingers and typeracer now. I learnt TT from typingclub and keybr when I was a beginner. I didn't really type much during Sept/Oct/Nov, got demotivated.
Also to beginners out there: it's going to be a rough path at the start, some people just give up. Keep practicing, you'll make progress for sure. Make sure to take breaks too.
Ayyy I love this! It's all about the long game, and measuring progress is where it's at. Amazingly done! 🔥 Keep it up

Good video. I started as a 50+ with touch typing in 2019 after typing over 30 years with 3 and a half fingers. Now I'm in the high 80's and still slowly improving. Remember it will be with ups and downs. At times you will fall back in speed but maybe a week later or so you'll make a jump to new highs. It's just like you said, just practice daily 5 minutes and you'll be amazed at how fast you will improve. But after 70WPM it will go slowly, at least for me.
Remembering the ups and downs is what it's all about- all in the long game! Many thanks for dropping your comment, always good to hear the positivity 🔥 Keep it up!

I can honestly agree touch typing helps so much with the speed and reliability of your typing, with my own method of typing I was already fast hitting around 90 wpm, but once I learnt touch typing I managed to hit my PB of 128 wpm :D
WOOO! Only up from there, too. Keep it up 🔥
I wasn’t allowed to use computers often until late middle school and early high school, so I am just now learning how to type properly. I’m decent at pecking (I use like 3-4 fingers on each hand) but it’s just not fast enough for me.
So I’m just using the proper typing method for everything except my urgent essays to force myself to learn. RUclips comments (yes, this one), chat messages in online school, discord, etc. Hopefully I’ll get better, I have a long road ahead

Glad you enjoyed this one as well! :D
Before learning touch typing, my speed was around 40-50 wpm (measured on keybr)using hunt and peck with index and middle fingers of both hands.
Once I started learning touch typing, my speed dropped to 20-30 wpm (measured on monkey type and keybr).
Now after practicing a lot for 2.5 months, I am at around 75-80 wpm with 95-97% accuracy (monkeytype with punctuations, numbers, with 2 minute sessions).
I think by the end of 2021 (today is Oct 10, 2021), I might hit 100 wpm. I just need to give it more time.
My dream speed is 190 wpm with 100% accuracy.
What worked for me: To practice hitting the keys right, for the 1.5 months, I allowed myself look at the keyboard and only hit the key with the correct finger.
I'm 22, I wish touch typing was taught as a skill to all computer classes in schools from kindergarten (rather than teaching shit like: this is a mouse, this is a keyboard, this is a monitor....).
It as important a skill as writing. (at least in the current era).
I agree with it being as important as writing nowadays I’m lucky my school taught us to type

I have around 115 avg wpm, but I have some bad habits, such as never using my pinky and some keys not the recommended fingers. How important would you say it is to re learn the basic fingerings? Also in some games that I play (league) I have deep ingrained habits of using my 4th finger on Q, so do you have any advice for me?
For a very long time- and sometimes I still go back to this habit- I only used two fingers on my right hand and all five on my left. I believe this is what allowed me to go from 140 to 160. When I made the switch to using four fingers (not thumb) on my right hand, I dropped way down but as I overrid the muscle memory, I got there over time. Personally, as a result, I think it’s super important, and the more you practice- and the earlier you start to relearn this fingering- the better 🔥
As for League, I personally only use my left pinky for the left shift button. Try to relearn the fingerings, but if you have to compromise, then compromise! I don’t use the exact proper fingering, but what’s important is that you don’t have one finger covering half a keyboard. It’s all about what works for you.
Mark Bacon hmmm okay, thanks!
There are also low profile mechanical keyboard, though they are rarer than the "regular" ones. I also really like the elevated keys as it helps on hitting modifier keys like control with your palm instead of fingers, so you can press control without having your fingers move/move as little as possible from the homerow.

Amazing video, really enjoyed but i have a question. So at the moment i type around an average of 115-120+, I use touch typing and practice almost everyday, but I really struggle with stamina, i just cannot be as consistent as i need to be, any tips or ideas that could help me overall increase my consistency and stamina?
Keep up the practice and when you get tired push yourself, BUT don't push yourself too much! With consistent practice you will get used it and the muscles/tendons in your hands wrists and arms will help. While it's not the best analogy, think of a runner preparing for a marathon. They increase little bit by little bit.
Also stretch! I talked about this in my second typing video but you can also find a bunch of wrist and forearm stretches online. I'd recommend looking up, like, "wrist stretches for artists" since that might get you the best result

Honestly right now alternating between TypeRacer, Nitro Type and 10 Fast Fingers is helping me a lot right now. Just doing it when I feel like it and I'm close to a 100wpm average from the 90 I had about a week ago
Woooooo! 🔥 Keep it up, 100 average is right around the corner
I was practicing everyday for about 2 weeks or so and was making great progress, but then my forearms ended up getting sore and typing now just leaves me in pain.
Rest rest rest REST! 🔥 The practice is great, but rest is super important. I talk a bit more in my latest typing video about the fact that typing is still a physical exercise. Rest up and then get back to it when you're ready
I got used to focusing on speed rather than accuracy and I want to fix it. Help! ;-;
It happens! 10 Fast Fingers actually has a mode (it's the hard mode in the top 1000 words challenge) that stops the test when you make an error in a word. It stops the test and shows you what you got wrong. While it's frustrating, it's what helped me with accuracy.
Another thing would be to just purposely slow down. Build up the muscle memory at a slightly slower pace, then as you build up see when you start making the errors (i.e. at what relative speed the errors begin). Work on that a little bit, push a bit faster... rinse and repeat!
Hope that helps 🔥

I started a few weeks ago with something like 40 wpm.
Now I am at around 70 wpm but it seems like I am stuck there and altough my accuracy is pretty good I have like no way of getting any faster than the high seventies or sometimes if it is a good run bearly 80wpm.
Keep up the practice and push yourself- with consistent effort you WILL get there! 🔥 How far you've come is a good representation of how far you will go.
here are some things you forgot to mention in this video(I understand it's not easy to include everything):
1.reading ahead:
this is one of the least talked about but important skills, when you want to reach 120 wpm on average(or more) reading ahead is an important factor,at 120 wpm average reading 1 word ahead is enough, but if you can do more that's great(you have to for like avg 170 wpm )
2.typing word by word instead of letter by letter:
again if you want to reach 120 wpm on average you want to be typing word by word instead of letter by letter,as an example if you want to type mountain don't type m o u n t a i n ,instead think of it like a piano cord, you should drop the hands on the keyboard and mountain should appear, don't worry if this doesn't happen at first, and you can start smaller, you can break up mountain into moun and tain (also at speeds likie 160+wpm you should increase the chunk from 1 word to 2 words to as many as you can handle)
3.not typing every word at the same pace:
once you are trying to get 100+ wpm you should think about that you don't have to type every word at the same pace,if there is a word with many uncommon characters slow down to avoid making a mistake.
4.have separate times to focus on accuracy and raw speed
5.this is just a thing to be remembered:
progress is not linear so don't be sad if you go throw weeks or even months before you made any tangible progress.

I actually just saw that earlier today haha. I also discussed the reading ahead thing in my later typing video so it’s nice to know someone more qualified than me agrees 😂

Yes I know... I meant I saw that video just earlier today :P

Thank you for the amazing guide.
You're welcome- so glad you got something from it! :D
Thanks for the tips
Any time! Glad you got something from the video 🔥
school didnt teach me how to type so im here
Yea I never really learned how to type properly either, but when I wanted to type faster I did some googling and found some helpful articles. I'm glad this video can be one of those resources for you! 🔥

thanks alot 149 speed and i didn't even put alot of effort and i am 11 years old but if i type normaly i type around 150 wmp :)

im starting at a really low score(27wpm), using th home row method, how longo do you think it Will take to double or triple it?
And how many minutes per day do you recommend for practice?
Great video btw!
Thank you for the comment- so glad you liked the video! 🔥 Everyone's speed is different, so I don't know how long it will take for you, but it will happen. Make sure to push yourself but not too hard. I released another typing video on how I practice, and I recommend just like 30 minutes to an hour depending on how you're feeling. A lot of people do practice for a long time though! Try something and see how it goes.
i have been two finger typist all my life until last week i decided to learn typing, always thought i can do it and my 2 finger typing speed has always been between 25-35WPM, right now after week one i am at 20WPM on touch typing Hoping for great improvement in future as practicing daily for 45min Thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed! I have another video all about the finger remapping and touch typing, happy to hear it's working out for you. Keep it up! 🔥
Learned to TouchType in about 3 weeks. Went from ~40 wpm ("pecking") to 14 wpm after about 3 days. After practicing in only keybr for about a week I got to 30 wpm and 80% accuracy. After the second week I was at like 40 wpm, but I felt like I was typing faster than that. Then I realised I was pressing backspace half of the time, loosing most of the gained speed. Then I just worked on my 80% accuracy. Now it's been about a month since I started learning touch typing and I'm at ~70 wpm and 95% accuracy and 60 wpm with punctuation and 90-93% accuracy. Not nearly near my goal of 100 wpm with punctuation with
please give me link of those glasses i need them, my eyes strains a lot on desktop
You can really look up any “blue light glasses” online for pretty cheap. The orange ones you see at the start I got for about $15 off Amazon
good high quality vid.
Thanks, glad you think so! Hope you got something out of it 🔥
Thanks for the ul! I actually used the method you described, writing out the notes in hand on paper first, and then organizing them digitally later, when I was studying AP chemistry! Only downside to that was, that I didn't use tt then:( This comment, however, was typed using tt;) I only average about 40 wpm at the moment, but I'm committed to learning it, and I continue to see improvements all the time (when I started out about a month ago, I was averaging about 10 wpm!). I too use the exact same websites;) Thanks bro!
Ayy glad to hear it! Key words there are "at the moment" and I love that you're keeping a log of that progress so keep up the good work 🔥
great work my man
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you got some value from the vid 🔥
I reached 100 wpm about 3 years ago but I haven't really improved since I get like 120 best and it's not very consistent.
Those plateaus happen- find ways to push yourself! In my latest typing video I go over some methods to do that. One thing would be to start typing to your reading speed. In other words, force yourself to read fast so that you type to catch up. Chances are you'll start making a lot of errors- good! 🔥 Keep pushing yourself and you'll find ways to catch up and thus improve.
@@markbacon78 omg I finally get what was slwoing me down.. I was typing fast but my eyes were slow
I've been using keybr for 3 days now, and for about 4 hours in total, and it really highly changed my writing speed and very quickly, I went from 70 top speed with the way I've been writing to 20-30 in the first hour of learning how to write with 10 fingers ( I was using 6-7 fingers before ) and in the second hour I finished learning the keys and started practicing them and getting used to it, in the third hour top speed then went to about 40-50 wpm and in the fourth hour, i kept doing it over and over and reached about 65-70 wpm average.
I also reached 90 wpm top speed, I can guaranty the best website TO START is keybr.com, the way it helps you learn the placement of the fingers, the way it keeps making you practice specific keys etc, if you want to learn touch typing, start to keybr.com :) I am now still practicing my speed to reach about 90wpm average and then I'll focus on my accuracy ( I'm thinking about 10fastfingers where you actually have to delete what you wrote if you messed up etc.. ) Anyway thanks for recommending these websites :)
Couldn't agree more with this testament! For the longest time (and still the habit returns sometimes unfortunately) I used only two fingers on my right hand. KeyBR helped me out of that habit so absolutely an amazing site! Thanks for stopping by the video and hope you got some value out of it, thanks again for sharing! 🔥
Ayy 80 average now, I'll keep updating my progress I guess lmao
HECK YEA! I love to see it 😀
@@markbacon78 Are you from France btw?
@@Kerto I am not, haha 😅
In the past 2 months, I have gone from not knowing how to touch type to having an average speed of between 70-80 wpm, where my highest ever score was 89 wpm. My improvement has started slowing down a little, but my average is still going up. The way I learned to touch type was pretty different, but what I did was look up a touch typing map which pretty much just shows you which key corresponds to which finger and then I forced myself to touch type for school assignments or work (online), it was really slow at first, and I had awful accuracy, but my speed and accuracy both got up quickly and I usually get between 96 to 98% now, I mainly use type racer and 10fastfingers to practice, as well as nitro type from time to time, and I am able to type on both a mechanical keyboard (pc) and a membrane keyboard (laptop). Honestly, it is one of the most useful skills I have ever learned and it has improved my productivity and quality of work by a large margin, I feel like I came across this video too late, but it was still an interesting watch, either way, good luck to everyone who’s typing journey is starting here. Hope, you enjoy it as much as I do.
Edit: I just hit 90 wpm on type racer on a short text, I tried it again, and I got my first 100+ wpm with 100% accuracy
Ayyy this is awesome! I love hearing this sort of story. Progress is all in the long game. Keep up the good work! 🔥
Thx
Thanks for this Awesome video
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it 🔥
am i the only one who noticed how flawless his skin is >
The power of color correction, probably 🔥
did not recon, could not stop staring at his taped glasses and ask myself WHY!?!
I was around 50 wpm before touch typing, with touch typing I decreased to like 30 wpm but I forced myself to use it, it felt weird at first but now after 3 years I am 100+ wpm consistently without doing any extra effort apart from forcing myself to do touch typing and I don't regret it
That’s the spirit! The long game is where it’s at, even though it might bring us backward in the big picture. Keep it up! 🔥
All right, trying out mindful touch typing. I can currently type at about 20 WPM without looking. 2 weeks ago I was still using only my index fingers. Up until now I was using tipp 10, which is especially good for beginners because it has lessons where it slowly introduces new keys.
Ayyy that's awesome! I'm sure you're even further now even if it's been a few days. Keep up the good work and time will deliver results! Thanks for dropping by
Typing my notes really helped me. It helped me at school and I improved from 15WPM to 40 in only a week
Ayyy that's the game! Glad to hear you had a similar positive experience with that.
I’ve been typing 90-100 wpm. I can’t seem to improve no matter how much I try. Got any tips?
Keep up the practice! And hey, have a look at where you came from to remind yourself that you ARE improving. One big thing is to type at your reading speed.
I go over this in my later typing video, but essentially as you're doing typing tests, don't read while you type. Try to read ahead and let your fingers catch up to you. If you start making a bunch of errors- good! It means you're pushing yourself. When we get stuck in these plateaus, we simply find ourselves in a comfort zone. We must push ourselves out of that, and in this case that means reading and then typing to catch up to that. Let our reading empower our typing versus our typing hinder our reading (since virtually everyone can read faster than they can type).
Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes 🔥
