I'm so proud. I so appreciate all your updates. You started at like 40 didn't you???? This is amazing. Edit: There's a comment saying 40 around 3 months ago!! :D
Dang yes. You are right. My progress is actually a lot. I started touch typing in like June because my dad said we had to start learning how to type fast and I didn't know that I would actually get to 100.9 wpm. At some point in August or September I had to restart because I had realized that I was adapted to bad habits and now I am here and I am proud of myself. And by the way you are amazing with that wpm and accuracy. You are the GOAT!!!!!!!!!!
Mark, seriously - sooo helpful!! I appreciate you creating this content. I am 54 years old and decided to finally learn how to type. After watching numerous videos and articles, THIS Video (and a couple of your other videos) were the most helpful for me! Thank you again!!
Thanks so much for leaving such a thoughtful comment! I'm really appreciative of you leaving this comment, keeps me goin' to make some more, hopefully another typing video before the month is up 😁 Keep up the good work!
I would say in the beginning focus on accuracy and correct technique over speed. The problem is most of us are not starting from scratch but rather have typed incorrectly for years using the pecking method or another less than optimal typing strategy. I have found when I focused on speed at the start I would neglect technique, for example the C key I would use my pointer out of habit and the H key I would use my left hand instead of right. When I was rushing I would use the wrong finger for the key before I even realised I had done it, so I had to slow myself down, focus on accuracy and slowly build that muscle memory instead of trying to force it.
I actually started practicing touch typing like 4-5 months before ; I scrolled youtube And I watched one of your videos from were I got a lot of relevant data... So it's pretty useful...I
Super glad to hear that it's useful! The name/profile picture combo rings a bell- something about studying similar things I am. Keep up the good work! 🔥
I started learning touchtype last month and the same month I started my internship, and I work using a computer so that helped me retain better, now I type without looking at the keyboard and 40 wpm, I still have some troubles with signs and numbers but when it comes to words I mastered, I thought I would never learn to touchtype because at the beginning I thought it was too difficult but now I am glad I put a lot of effort in it
It's all about the effort and the conscious practice! Love to hear it- keep up the good work 🔥 (and bonus points for the Envy pfp- I'm only just watching that show now... so good)
Damn man, you arent stopping the grind, I've been here for about 1 year now I'm happy to see your channel grow, and I'm happy to see you never give up, it takes so much courage to truly not give up. ♥
Very helpful info. I was never a touch typer, but after a bad wrist injury and surgery, I had to learn it, and needed an ergonomic split keyboard too. So I bought a Kinesis, and OMG, the slow and frustrating learning curve of: A. touch-typing, and B. Adjusting to a split ortho linear keyboard. It took me three months just to get proficient, still slow, but, I also bought blank keycaps to take off the training wheels. But it has definitely been worth it. And yep, keybr has been my daily go to.
I'm glad it helps! I think the blank keys are super helpful too. I honestly should do this for numbers/special characters because I often have to look for those to this day...
Tip from somebody that averages 115 WPM on Typeracer (as of 10/14/23), accuracy is key. Most of my good races (125+ WPM) has an accuracy of 98.5% or higher AT LEAST. If you find yourself having an accuracy below 97% for beginners, and 98% for the more professional typists, slow down a bit, and practice those trickiers keys or letter pairs (for example, since I use dvorak, it's good to practice letters like w and q and j, or letter pairs like wh, and je.)
Well idk if it's possible to have watched the whole thing, but I'm glad it is something you needed! :D Thanks for stopping by again- let me know what you thought and if there are any other things you wonder about. Might make a follow up to this video since some thoughts came up while editing it.

I am a beginner typer and i just started practicing two week ago and now my wpm is 40 the thing i found to be helpful is to not over train as it can do more bad than good
Totally! Overtraining can definitely be a little rough, whether it's typing or just anything. Rest is important and it's also important to take breaks to see what's working and what's not. Thanks for that reminder, and for stopping by the vid! Keep up the good work 🔥
I have got pretty good in 3 days i was typing from 8 to 9 wpm and now i don’t even go under 20 which is not amazing but i feel pretty happy with that Also this helped a lot 👍😅
although knowing which keys to press is not important it helps to have that as a guide otherwise in my experience, you won't realise when you went back to hunting and pecking.
oh yeah my mindset was to get to 40 or 50 wpm which I started at like 20 wpm or 15 wpm I think and when I hit 39 wpm I was so happy and I said to myself that if I got to 39 I could get to 40 or 50 wpm. An when I got to 40 and 41 wpm I celebrated by watching this videos.
Great video I'm a beginner and my typing speed is okay but I not using all my fingers on my right hand. I have background in Software development and I have always wanted to increase my typing speed. I will try 15 mins per day and 5 or so practicing on key br. Just in time for the new year!
I hope your goal has been going well! Typing 100+ wpm isn't too useful for coding, but the faster speed is definitely useful to some degree. Thanks for dropping by!
Help! I can’t seem to keep my fingers on the f j keys. I’m trying to get faster for a new job I recently got. Doi need to keep Allie fingers resting on the board? Or can I keep them hovering in the air?
Honestly, whatever is the most comfortable for you! Homerow method should be a guide, more than anything. Don't worry about your fingers returning to the f and j keys. I think mine loosely hover aroun there, but my pointer fingers are suspended in the air whilst I type (observing now). Try new methods, see what works for you, and stay within a realm that is comfortable to type with but using most of your fingers.
Yo I hit my highest. 72 wpm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice vid forgot to tell you last time I commented, now in my school a lot of my friends want to do touch typing since they see me doing it. By the way my birthday is on the 19th of January
the last few weeks I have been stressed with typing. i keep resetting on typing club because I make mistakes, I worry about hitting the right key with the right finger and don't know when to move on to sights to apply what I learn.
Stop resetting your progress! And take some deep breaths :) Making mistakes is a part of the process. When I try to use a new finger or something as I type, it's annoying- sure- but as we improve over time that's how we can measure progress. Try to have fun with it, don't take it too seriously. Move on to other websites whenever you want to. Have fun with it, no one is expecting perfection. I may be able to type fast, but my accuracy is rarely above 90%! Make mistakes, embrace 'em!
When I was a kid we used a program called Mavis Beacon teaches typing and I'm 40 years old now so that was a long time ago and maybe there's something similar to that out now?
Yea that’s a problem with Premiere generating them 😅 It generates based on time, versus word count, I believe. Gotta edit my script so they get broken down more. Sorry about that
