Hi Chris, I'm the original developer of the Kicad Eagle schematic importer. The reason for the little labels is to handle the Eagle named nets feature. For any net without a label, the small one is added. I found examples of eagle schematics where the net name connects wires across the sheet or project.
Thank you so much for your Kicad coverage. I am fairly confident that with v6 I will manage to completely jump over from Eagle. While the Eagle Fusion 360 integration is a really good idea and and extremely useful to me at the moment, Eagle inside Fusion is also hellishly slow and the obscure & terrible workflow of Eagle seems to infect all the Fusion 360 features it touches. Just this week I had a cyclic dependency after changing the enclosure a little bit and I was not able to update the PCB outline anymore. This should be a super basic feature of a combined CAD/ECAD solution. I had to completely push again from Eagle (and even then had to remember to uncheck the automatic outline detection, otherwise Eagle complains that there no closed outline and refuses to push...). There goes an hour of stupid trial and error, and any advantage the deep integration currently offers. I am certainly not dropping Fusion 360 which is a really great tool especially given its low price. But it's a good time to check out Kicad for sure.
I've had great luck bouncing from kicad to fusion via freecad. I suspect my mechanical demands are very modest, though. Exporting dxf from fusion to kicad is how I start all pcbs now.
thank for the video. I have one question: when I update pcb from schematic, it imports all the components again, it's like the components in the pcb and schematic aren't linked, how can I fix that ?
@Contextual Electronics I have a question that is not related to the topic of the video: How did you get KiCad into "dark mode"? Or is that automatic under Linux? (I work under Windows)

Great, thanks for the detail!

Nice preview, but I will wait for stable release, how do you use 'dark theme' please ?...cheers.

First thing I changed when I moved from Eagle to KiCAD. I could not live with the green bottom layer.
@@nlcortana thanks!

Is there a Eagle lib importer for Kicad 6.06? (its Key-cad, not Kike-add)
i think the label identifies the net name of the trace
I am looking forward to one video which shows all the new feature that has been implemented in V5.99

ignore me, I'm just here for the answer.
