As usual a very complete review filled with stuff people wanna know about cars. I find myself watching these reviews even if the car doesn't tickle my fancy (this one does though). Got a good formula there, Tom! Keep up the excellent work :)
Tom your videos are so well done and your personality make it more than just a "here is the car" review. Thanks so much for doing these videos and you deserve more subscribers!!
Got the first 2011 that came off the truck at my dealer. Have 57k miles on her already and will be getting another one at the end of the year. Great little car. Good gas mileage. Drives well. Parks easy. Not good on the highway in wind (especially on our way to Vegas) and the stock tires are noisy! New rubber quieted down the ride a ton! Overall a fine little machine.
I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited, if you keep it maintained it is an awesome car. I still get compliments on this car still in 2021. It has its downfalls, for me its the suspension. Having replaced the struts, shocks, sway bar links it still feels like driving a golf cart. Don't expect a cloudy ride, Also the XM antenna has gone out, but other than that it's the bomb. I will never sell it. I may get a new car someday but I will always keep this car. Remember to check your recalls. I had to have the airbag replaced and the clockspring along with some other items.
I am going to test drive on in a few weeks & have wanted one since last year, I hope I will enjoy my test drive as much as I enjoy watching the YT vids of this car! lol
Consumer Reports also mentioned the road noise, but it is highly recommended. Great review. The price is really good, the inside and out are outstanding and the warranty is unstoppable. Have a question, since it's a 4 cyl. How many people can you carry with you and how much does the car struggle to pull them up?
If you painted this car blue, it would look like a small shark. (I mean that in a good way.) The fluidic sculpture gives it a really aquatic look. In the words of Autobytel's Jeff Glucker: "This is a good looking car that gets great fuel economy, and is priced affordably well. This is a winner."
been waiting weeks to get one of these, all dealerships within 100 miles have them sold before they arrive or the day they arrive. its crazy. Looks very nice, way better than a Civic
I have owned for a year and have never had a problem with visibility; which is something I myself was worried about at the time of purchase. Yes ~ Has outside temp. gauge. And lots of space in the center console. Very deep (about 12 in).
That's cool. My main concern is quality highs and mids. Bass is really easy to get with an aftermarket sub. Speakers especially tweeters, are sometimes a pita to replace. I appreciate the feedback.
How is the stock audio system? A lot of cars do bass rather well nowadays but the highs are usually pretty weak due to cheap tweeters or poor placement of them ie in the door aiming at your stomach region.
I have a few questions that weren't covered in this review. How is visibility for the driver? Does the car have an outside temperature gauge? How much storage space is in the center console?
Just bought a 2011 in the same solid cream colour as the test example. My one is NZ spec so no glass roof or sat nav. But it DOES have dual zone climate control. Mine has 113,000km on the clock with full service history, and still looks and drives great. Was astounded to get 5.6 litres per 100 kilometres fuel consumption on a variable route (some flat, some hills and windy bits and speeds from 50km/h to 100km/h with just a little cruise control use on open sections). It's a good'un!
@MGSROCKS1 yea but look at the 97 Taurus people bought those like hot cakes but today that ovaly design looks pretty aweful and I remember many thought it looked pretty slick and revolutionary the
Love the review, but I surely do hate the car. Always a joy to watch your videos. Maybe you should have an episode where your evil twin is the main presenter? LOL you know for muscle cars and stuff
I own the 2012 Elantra (not limited) and have just over 15K (purchased 8/2011). I bought it new and have all my receipts for gas and tune-ups and on average I get only 22-24MPG city and close to 28MPG Hwy. My Toyota 1988 Camry had better city mileage :(! But since it was totaled by a hit and run driver, I got the Hyundai (based on fuel economy). The car looks great (which is why Kia and Toyota have 'copied' their design) but if I could return the car to the Hyundai dealer, I would!
that's exactly what 1.8 L engine's always get. theyre so full of crap when they say 29/40. NO 1.8 L CAN ACHIEVE THAT. its just a flat out lie. my chevy sonic turbo gets 31 city/38 hwy. FROM HAVING A 1.4 L turbo engine. you need smaller then a 1.8 to break low 30 mpg's consistently. you have to get a subcompact to achieve 30-35. compact's are just too big to get that kind of mileage. the corolla may be a piece of shit, but at least they dont LIE about the fuel economy numbers lol.
+Doug N. It's good to hear that Hyundai has addressed the concerns with mileage with the newer models - but I don't have another 20K to pay for a vehicle-- so while it's great you're mileage is good with '13 and the '16, the thread is regarding the 2012 Hyundai Elantra ;). They made a lemon that year.

This video review about the Hyundai Elantra actually gave me more courage to purchase one. Thank you Tom.
how are you finding it so far? is the leg room at the back really good? and does it have bluetooth to play music ? thanks
@@feji1it does
Buying one of these on Saturday. Really excited
Joseph Richard Crant I got it, I enjoy it, but have had some weird and dumb issues with it

791,413 miles and climbing on mine
Hyundai has really come around the past couple of years. It's now my favorite foreign car company.
It’s even better now
This review may have just pushed me to buy the Elantra I've been eyeing.....Thank you
I have rented this car a few times from enterprise for long drives and i LOVED it.
Are you still alive? 😢❤

How has it been 6 years later?
Pretty much one of the best looking cars on the road.
Well that aged poorly
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName I still like its look, I prefer the 2016-2019 looks better to today's elantra . I think it was their best one ever.
Just doing my job. Congrats on the new purchase, hope you enjoy it!
I just bought this car. it's amazing

@YankeemanLT Thanks, I appreciate that. They do take a lot of time.
If there was a petition out there to sign to get you to be on TV I would sign it, you're awesome.

Good review. Loved the evil twin part :D Good luck with further reviews and thank you for your time.

@DrivenCarReviews dual zone is now available for 2013 elantras and gt and coupe.
The "Alabama-made" Hyundai Elantra has won the title of 2012 North American Car of the Year
Love this car! Very stylish. My only complaint is how round the font is. It sort of makes it look like a van. Can't wait to get my Hyundai elantra!
Love this car
I
i was considering this and the focus after about a month of contemplating i went with the focus. They are both great cars.
Did you ever get jerky transmission issues with the focus?
Is that true he's your twin or you are just doing some video effects..?
I usually only get about 24 MPG with my 2012 Limited... it's a good looking car, but I'm definitely getting a hybrid next time.
Best review I've seen.. Tom
This is a very nice car.
yea i garentee that design is gonna age pretty fast
It’s not aged yet
Good review but you never discussed the lack of a spare tire.
How is the stock audio system? A lot of cars do bass rather well nowadays but the highs are usually pretty weak due to cheap tweeters or poor placement of them ie in the door aiming at your stomach region.
what beautiful scenery. Where was this filmed?
white elantras come with black interior too?
i thought they only came in beige..
I have a few questions that weren't covered in this review. How is visibility for the driver? Does the car have an outside temperature gauge? How much storage space is in the center console?
Hi Tom. Do you know if you'll be doing a 2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-Spec review anytime soon?
It’s amazing
I bought one and love it! The red one is sexy.
@DrivenCarReviews Does the Limited with Tech package come with HD Radio?
Just bought a 2013 Hyundai Elantra
Hey any good ? , I'm going to check one out in two days .
@@nicklion I love it truly you won’t be disappointed. What color and year you looking at?

Can you be more specific?
I have a Canadian version Limited, and it DOES have auto climate control and dual zone.
which is better elantra or kia forte ?
Could you do a review on the 2013 hyundai Elantra GT?
It is the car of the year (2012) right. It is 800,000+ pesos
were you going 55 for the 43mpgs?
Wait so does it have brake assist ?
My question is how will it hold up past 120K plus miles....
My 07 Toyota just past 105K and is still humming along... Will this hyundai do this?
On my 7th year, i can confirm at 104000 miles the most serious problem was a sensor costing me 220 in total to replace. Hyundai has come a long way.
Well I just bought a Honda Civic SI and that car does 0-60 in 6.0. Elantra is a nice car but no SI.
@MGSROCKS1 yea but look at the 97 Taurus people bought those like hot cakes but today that ovaly design looks pretty aweful and I remember many thought it looked pretty slick and revolutionary the
I rented a 2015 one for 3 weeks and it was base model and barely got 25 mpg. it was ok but seemed powerless and dull
BUT it was quite
Elantra or i30?
Am in the market for a new car "Finally", not sure if going with one of these, the Civic, Scion or a Chevy. Sorry Ford is out of the question.
is it just me or eleantra got better tech than the sonata
jelloofhell it does.
@timtime88 I just borrow it. Costco is very nice about it.
Looks like @ 0:16 that you already nicked the rear rim on this test car
I cant tell if i like the look of this car or if i hate it. it kind of looks like a pod, similar to the prius.
The first time I heard the word doppelganger used right.
Love the review, but I surely do hate the car. Always a joy to watch your videos.
Maybe you should have an episode where your evil twin is the main presenter? LOL you know for muscle cars and stuff
Front*
why is it so hard to reduce road noise? it is the ONLY thing keeping me away. i would gladly pay $500 more for a quiet interior.
@tkmanonymous Just make sure you test drive the competition too, just to be sure. Sorry, always in "dad" mode...
add the front of the new 2014 mazda and this would be a sexy looking car, I really dont like the front it looks fat lol, anyways amazing car.
What Mazda
Adequate. Nothing to write home about. Depends on your listening needs. It doesn't suck though.
How's the audio in this type of car? For Aux and CD players?
yeah what if you scratch this car during a test drive?
Well done!
These cars go to dozens of writers. What makes you think it was me?
Que carro maravilhoso
@iridius001 Evil Twin is too lazy to show up most times, can't see him doing a whole review.
23,000? you can get a Civic SI for that price
$23k for a stylish sedan with plenty of standard equipment.
868,241 on my 2012 Elantra GLS
GREAT !
Hermoso auto!!!
Actually, it looks like an overflowed glue out of the rim that collected dirt on it.
yup:D
