9:30 You cannot convince me that Washington made that first extra point lol it’s hard to tell with the camera quality from early 90s but I watched it frame-by-frame like 10 times and you can see the ball at the top of the crossbar, then it disappears and seems to change direction landing nearly on the end line in the back of the end zone. I think the ball hit the cross bar and went straight down (under, not over) the cross bar. didn’t matter in the end but that’s a big stage to miss something like that as refs.

If it went through it would land a few yards behind the end line even if it barely went in. But at the end of the day it was like 30 years ago so who really cares either way 🤷🏻‍♂️

The announcers question it when it happens.. communication during a football game before the year 2000 was a lot different. There weren’t replays and rules analysts looking at every play under a scope. One ref put his arms up, other one looked at him and followed. The ball would be defying physics if it went in then landed on the back line of the end zone. THE BALL GOES STRAIGHT DOWN. Watch it for yourself lol don’t look at where the ball ends up when the guy picks it up, because it bounces toward the stands, but the first place the ball hits the ground is literally on the back line of the end zone. That wouldn’t be possible if the kick was good lmao

Dawgs were running the ball with the fullbacks real well, then started throwing it - not well. Not sure why they changed. Our tail back couldn't get any traction. Wasn't the same Washington team. They lost a lot of starters to the NFL including Outland Trophy winner Steve Emtman and their whole defensive line. The 1991 Huskies gave up 108 total points in 12 games (9.2 pts per game). And only 54 pts were scored on their starting defense. The rest of the pts came against their second and third teamers because the 1991 team was blowing teams out so bad that usually midway through the 3rd qtr they would pull most of their starters. The 1991 Huskies scored 42 pts per game while giving up 9.2 pts a game. In fact, Washington was ahead of Michigan 34-7 in the 1992 Rose Bowl when Michigan scored their other touchdown late in the game (garbage time) on a Tyrone Wheatley long run against mostly second teamers on the Huskies defense. The Huskies defense the following year wasn't near as good as the 1991 team.

@@tommurphy2746 Agreed. It wasn’t the same in 92 as it was in 91. In the 91 game Michigan didn’t have there full team and still played Washington to a stand still until damn near halftime. If Michigan has a healthy Derrick Alexander then Washington can’t sit on Des the way they did. I’m not saying Michigan wins that game because the Huskies were special. I’m just saying it would’ve been a bit more competitive and I thought the game was a good lesson for Blue in terms of learning what’s needed to be at the upper echelon of the sport at the time.
