how can this be one of the greatest games when there was no defense?
That 2017 Oklahoma team was probably the best team they've ever had, at least the best since the Switzer Era... and that tandom of Michel and Chubb, behind that OLine was the highlight of that Georgia team and foreshadowed what they've grown into since. Oklahoma is in decline like the rest of the teams that were the core of the Big XII, and I don't think Venables era will see them resurrect this level of quality.
This was the greatest CFP game I’ve ever seen. Both teams gutted this one out and left it all on the line

The amount of NFL talent that was in this game is simply amazing: Baker, Hollywood Brown, CeeDee Lamb, Mark Andrews, Joe Mixon, Kyler Murray, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Calvin Ridley, Raquon Smith. Wow!!!

This was an amazing game. As a Pats fan I still can’t get over Bilk taking Michel over Chubb. Thought Chubb clearly led the way that season.

My heart truly never recovered from this game. *I KNEW* that kick right before halftime was going to come back to bite us in the end. But with that said time has went on and I am beyond happy for Georgia and their fans on a damn good football program winning back to back championships. They are the STANDARD.

The two best games I have ever seen Georgia play both came in the semi-finals the Rose bowl and peach bowl.
Georgia has played in 4 of the greatest games in CFP history. Rose Bowl vs OU, Both Nattys vs. Bama, and now the Peach Bowl vs OSU with the game winning missed FG as the clock struck 12 on New Years Eve. GO DAWGS!!!!!

And Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb would go on to be teammates for the Cleveland Browns for 4 years.
And win a playoff game for Cleveland for the first time since 1994
Games like this, and last night, are why I’m going to miss the current 4-team CFP format, as it expands to 12 after next season.
Why? I’m excited about it. We will still get these types of games.

@@gamer9smith yes! I’m fine with not going more than 12 ever, but cutting out a large number of good teams that could potentially win the championship just seems like a disservice. That’s why switched from the BCS to the CFP. Only allowing 2-4 teams to play for the championship because certain teams had one bad game/loss during the season never sat right with me.

I remember telling my friend who was a big OU fan, if OU can’t stop the run this game is gonna be long
Stopping the run is one thing. Making a friggin tackle occasionally would have at least helped. My God the amount of missed tackles and bad angles taken as soon as chubb/michel hit the secondary was pitiful. Sooners defense in this era was pitiful. Absolutely just bad..
Not a fan of either team, but Georgia was a much better team. Oklahoma was overrated as they had got a huge push with a fluke win at Ohio State but weeks later were beat at home by Iowa State. Not a Riley fan at all. The problem is that OU won't scrap the spread and believe that by doing the same thing for over two decades that somehow they will get different results. Getting awards for QB's is one thing but, they aren't any rings on those fingers. I think they should adopt a more run based power offence with added pro concepts in the passing game.
Rodney anderson and trey sermon were the better backs that game
Michel had 181yd and 3 TD on 11 carries, and 4 rec for 41yd and a TD. Chubb had 145yd and 2 TD on 14 carries. That's a 16.5 avg for Michel and 10.4 for Chubb. For their part, Anderson had 201yd with 2 TD on 26 carries (7.7avg) and Sermon had 34yd on 2 carries.
So... Chubb/Michel combined for 6 TD compared to Anderson/Sermon's 2 and outgained the OU tandem by 91 yds rushing on three fewer carries and also had 41yd receiving against -2 for the Sooner backs.
I appreciate you taking up for your boys, and Anderson had the game of his life, but the two Dawgs outclassed the Sooners in Pasadena, and it wasn't particularly close.
About as much defense that was played in this was played in the peach bowl

The 2008 or 2017 Oklahoma teams are the best OU teams to not win it all..I'm going to go with 2017..That was their best shot to win it all since 2000..Oklahoma gave up 17 point lead in the Rose Bowl Semi-Final to Georgia..The 2017 Alabama team was the worst title Alabama team that Nick Saban has had..Alabama didn't win SEC West or SEC that year..Alabama beat Georgia in OT in the Nati' game..Anyway, the 2017 Oklahoma team had Baker Mayfield, CeeDee Lamb, and Hollywood Brown ⁉🏈🏟
