    The SR.s on both teams were all freshman in 91 when these teams split the title. So this game had some extra incentive for them all !

    I remember the pregame. The Miami fans displayed headstones for every team they had beaten at home on their winning streak. They made one for Washington as well. This is my favorite college football memory.

    One of the best upsets of the 90's. Warren Sapp has to be the quickest DT off the line of all time. Focus in on him, and you'll see.

      For Miami unbelievably so but Washington is still a great program and frankly was playing the best football of any team in the Pac12 at the end of the year. And w/QB coming back next year they'll be good again. Huskies don't get a lot of love considering they play all the way up in Seattle, may as well be Canada, late night usually & a lot of big name teams don't want to travel up there for nonconference games

      And now the Huskies are in the CFP as the #2 team--they should be #1. Anyway, they're 2 wins away from another National Championship. Oh, Miami is so not doing well.

    Interestingly enough, this was Washington's only road victory that season. They went 1-4 away from UW with 3 of the 4 losses being blowouts, finished the season 7-4 and did not even make a bowl game.

    • @mongoslade277
      @mongoslade277 11 месяцев назад +2

      Washington qualified for a bowl at 7-4. No bowl invites bc they were on probation. That's why Don James retired. This was the 1st season for Jim Lambright as the head coach

    Man Vegas has gotten much better at the spread. Having an early 90's Husky team a 15 point under dog was dumb regardless of the opposition. Like 2000's USC or today's Bama.

    Washington only completed 18 passes to wide receivers that whole season, mostly playing 2 TE on every play, kinda a super low number, right? Sanctions must have really limited their WR talent that year.
    Damon Huard would have the height of his pro success in this very city, going 4-1 as a starter for the 1999 Dolphins.
    Color analyst Dick Vermeil would soon return to coaching, and he won the 1999 Super Bowl with Washington’s DMarco Farr leading the Rams defense

    • @AaronStark1993
      @AaronStark1993 2 года назад

      That is not true. Eric Bjornson had 49 catches. He was a receiver in college. Didn't become a Tight End until he was in the NFL.

      No "kinda". It's shockingly low by today's standards. But back then, there weren't as many spread offenses like there is today.

      Doesn't surprise me a bit with Kaufman at tailback and his backup was rashawn sheehy who was up-and-coming runner is so the run game was unstoppable for the Huskies
