    I like the snap for many of my setups, but not so fond for this one. When I hit the arm throw I like my opponent coming in. Not heading away. Which is the natural reaction to the snap down. I would like to drill this and see if I can get it to work for me. Because you can never have too many tools in the bag.

    I love this throw, it's very versatile. Obviously it's a solid technique for competitive wrestling, but if you do submission grappling, Obie's arm is in perfect position for an arm bar, because the throw straightens and isolates it. If MMA is more your style, the throw lands you in a kesa gatame scarf hold, great for striking or submissions. And if you ever have to defend yourself, this one can turn into a real spinal adjustment.

    This man is like a wrestling encyclopedia. Whats funny is that I see alot of similarities between wrestling and Karate throws, Judo throws, even Sumo throws. I know little about wrestling but it seems like most people aren't using even a fraction of the total amount of moves there are. Who could?

      ***** My son is a JV clinic wrestler and has a 14 - 4 record, but he only has one pin. He gets technical falls sometimes, but I feel he should end the match sooner against lesser opponents. Does he lack power being 12 years old and only 65 pounds with a skinny frame. I am a martial artist since I was 15, not sure if I was built like him at his age. I think I was about 70 pounds, I was a bigger eater.

    I've always had problems with this type of move. I was taught that when you snap down the head, you do it as hard as possible to drive their face into the mat. If they are caught offguard and go down you move to a front headlock. If not, you leave your back leg you stepped with during the snap down in place, change levels and take a short step forward and move into a shot as they come up. In my experience I either get the front headlock or I shoot and we just sort of scramble back to neutral. I think this move is the perfect thing to try since you are going for the arm and turning into your backward-moving momentum for the throw. But I have a hard time trapping that arm off the move.
    Are you snapping down full-force or going half way to get them into that upright position when they counter? I wonder if I'm stepping back too far, if that question makes any sense...

  • @aidenpentz3390
    @aidenpentz3390 2 года назад

    I understand why you use the snap, but why would you use a double under hook when grabbing the arm to start the throw? Wouldn’t you instead want to have one over and one under, just cause it’d be stronger that way?

    mr kolat, my name is Caleb, I'm a second year wrestler and next year is my senior year. I'm trying my damnedest to win state for my coach next year but I'm afraid that I don't have the experience or technique or the strength to do so. so for technique i watch your videos and drill them in my head, and for strength i work out with the team. but I still lack experience to become a state champion. what should I do?

    • @blaze_jwmper4243
      @blaze_jwmper4243 8 лет назад

      and when I said drill them in my head, I mean when I'm off the mat, on the mat I do all of this stuff on my drilling partner ( which by the way is terrible ) but nobody else wants to practice with me BECAUSE im a 2nd year wrestler. I know a lot of technique because of your videos and i know I have the determination to win state, but I just don't know if it's mentally or physically possible for me to do so. please give me feedback ASAP

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  8 лет назад

      +BlaZe_Jwmper It's important to have goals. You should do strength training and compete in the offseason to get more matches and experience. You should look to improve at every practice and with every match learning from your mistakes and you will be surprised how far you can go. I am on a very big team and I have an issue where my drilling partner for the weight class does all these weird things to inflict pain on me like dig his nails into me while we're in a tie what could I do to take control of collar tie better

    • @KOLATCOM
      @KOLATCOM  8 лет назад +4

      +Aveen Arya If you are on a big team find a different drilling partner even if you have to go up a weight or down a weight. Find someone who has the same goals as you and wants to get better every day. It's not worth wasting your time with someone acting childish during practice. Also, he must be threatened by you and that is why he is using dirty tricks. Don't let him bully you get better than him and teach him a lesson. Here are some good ways to clear ties and get him off you if you do have to drill with him: www.kolat.com/clearing-ties-series
