I compare Ping i525 against Ping i59 two forged golf irons which are hollow construction offering fast ball speeds, forgiveness, consistency, forged like feel and tour inspired looks. I provide my feedback and test results........which are interesting.

I have the i525. Works great. I came from Titleist T200 Version 1. These were just great from the start. With the right shaft, finally got my timing right! Last round with Titleist 94, first round with Ping 525 84! Great irons!

I hit the 525's on a simulator. They felt great. As far as I am concerned, everyone makes great equipment these days. It's all down to individual taste, and how each club suits a particular player's game.

did the same. I play Mizuno MP20 blades 6-PW; but looking for some more pop without suffering the knuckle balls clubs like HMB and P790 suffer with. I tested the i525, same shaft and lie angle. Felt great flew long and high. The more I hit them the tighter the dispersion became. Will make the shift a little later in the season.

If I was to go PING, I'd do i59 in 7-PW in power spec and then 6 and 5 in the i525 in the regular lofts.

Have tried both of these. The i525 is long but the spin is way to low… The i59 felt great and went great but boy oh boy…why so expensive? Ended up buying the Wilson Staff Blades… best of all three, love em!

  • @TheNuscas

I have the i525's in Power Spec and they are rockets. Went with the Project xIO x-stiff shafts at 115g and I think it's a great combo due to the overall light swing weight of these clubs. And don't be concerned with any bad sound with range balls/mats, as I've noticed they sound great with any premium ball off grass; night and day really.
My only con with these irons is that they are so hot off the face that they are not good with any short chipping around the green. Too hard to control the distance.

    • @pbode1
      @pbode1 10 месяцев назад

Agree with the chipping, I got fitted recently into i525's and made a mistake in my first round to take out the pitching wedge for the first short 15y chip instead of my 52 degree Callaway MD3. It went over the green at the other side. Now eying a 50 degree T23 to cover that risk. I guess I am still not over the shock that these Pings replaced my old Mizunos... They did feel soft enough for me (the shaft change to graphite must have contributed to that too) , and I found out that I don't mind the sound. It's not tingy like a hybrid but not forged dull either. To be honest I kind of grown to like the feedback of the 'whack' sound I hear if hit it dead center. My old MX300 would of course feel even softer when doing the same, but 14 years ago, sweet spots were a lot smaller, so it just didn't happen that often, especially with my long irons.

    I59 look so good!
But I think The Wilson staff model you use are still the best looking irons.
Solid content just sucks that the price of these are way out of range for me lol

11 hcp. I tried most of the players distance options in March, shortlisted P790 and i525 and got fitted into i525 in May. Graphite shaft, 2* upright, retro spec to gap properly with my existing 52,56,60* wedges. Love them so far. I originally wanted Mizuno 225s but for me they lacked the consistency of P790 and i525. Fitting was the key to getting irons that suited my swing and clubhead delivery.

i525 is great, has them in the bag for 2-3 months and the overall distance and forgiveness are impressive for a high HCP like me. Genuinely surprised I am good enough to play player distance irons when I used to play a set of Mizuno jpx919 HM.

I’m also a 12, I got new clubs this year and went in wanting the 225s, but wanted to give the Ping i525s a try; I went with the Pings simply because they offered slightly more forgiveness on mishits.

You’ve tested Ben Hogan in the past and even sported their fairway wood in your bag at one time. I would like to see a comparison between the current Ben Hogan driver compared to say the Ping, Callaway, Cobra, and Taylor Made drivers. Even throwing in a PXG if you could get one, would be nice. Personally if I had to choose the i525 for me, but ultimately pass on both.

Plus, as a raw material stainless steel is generally softer than carbon steel. It’s all down to what they do in the hardening process

Interesting to see Matt Fitzpatrick wins the open playing with “ proper” S55 Ping cast irons. When will Ping get the message that there’s still a market for the clubs that they built their reputation with.
