    That's a really simple CSS solution. And thanks for making me realize that the exact pixel size matters less than the relative dimensions.

    4:00 I do not find the font (viewed fullscreen on a 13'' laptop) tiny. In fact, I have scaled down the OS font size to match similar sizes and find it perfectly acceptable. Less font = more content on screen.

    Hey man, came across your channel by coincidence. A fortunate coincidence.
    I have a suggestion if you take those. I'm setting up a small business, and I've been wondering about designing a unified set of document templates - internal and public facing documents like letters, emails, reports, etc. I would love to see a professional's take on this.

    My take: 1rem is the default text size on the device, and is to be set to a size at which text is well readable. So the body text should be 1rem everywhere. An exception to it may be with fonts which appear smaller; they would be scaled up.

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely agreed, Matj. It depends on the font you choose, like this examples shows: ruclips.net/video/WX-56wRA4aY/видео.html

    Mandatory school is eleven years in Brazil (7 y.o. to 18 y.o.) , yet we do not have ANY tip on fonts and font sizes more than the classical "Arial 12", despite (1) 99,9% of children and teens having access to computers and smartphones and (2) a large minority of the population having visual problems.

    • @PimpmyType

      Pimp my Type will be part of every curriculum then! 😂 Guess it’s not different here in Austria. Arial 12 is fine, when printed out 😜.

    So funny. Thank you! OK, so I'm making a website with Wix and have a question: is the px size the same as the 'font size'? e.g. is 16px the same as font size 16? (asking for a friend)

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад

      Not sure about that in Wix, since I’m not familiar with it, but I’ll assume it is. Anything else would not make much sense. Hope that helps! 😉

    Should we use rem or pixels for fonts size?

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад

      I’d definitely go for rem! Pixels are always absolute, rems can be scaled up and down. And I also find it much easier to work with them. If you set your body text in 1rem and your headings in 2.5 rem, you instantly get a feeling for the different sizes.

  • @shadigaafar3091
    @shadigaafar3091 2 года назад

    what about headings?

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад

      Well, on mobile I usually make them smaller, sometimg 2rem, max. And on desktop they definitely can become larger, even 3 or 4 rem, depending on the kind of content.

  • @tonylorenzano1830
    @tonylorenzano1830 2 года назад

    When Fonts like Open Sans are so much bigger than Times New Roman how can you compare sizes except side by size! So what is the point of the pixel to point comparisons??
    Then there is the problem of which do I go by? Pixels, points, ems...whatever!
    Body text for Books vs website:
    Then, for these people who think reading a is why mobile phones were invented! Yikes!
    Then there is the question of scaling up or down electronically with the zoom function!

    • @PimpmyType
      @PimpmyType  2 года назад

      In this article, I give some rules of thumb how to use what units: pimpmytype.com/font-size/. Regarding the units:
      - For print use pt, start with 11 or 12 pt for body text.
      - On the web: better use rem and set the default to at least 16px.
      Hope that helps, Tony!
