I was kinda half expecting this video to be about the Vietnamese national team from the fact that they have no shot of making to third round of world cup after losing to Indonesia twice in one international break.
To be fair, we can’t just put the blame on Troussier and ignore the goddamn fact that our players can’t handle the ball AT ALL. Can’t pass, can’t do first touch, can’t run, sometimes can’t even kick the ball powerful enough to make the Indonesian keeper feel he’s under any risk. Doesn’t help that Indonesia have their heritage, professional European players. Our best player struggled to make the bench for Pau. If not for Filip we could easily do a Brazil-esque disaster. No manager in this world can do wonders with these man. Our youth development is a horrible joke and wouldn’t be surprised if in U23 Asian Cup we get grouped.

American Samoa recently competed in the first round qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. They lost to Samoa 0-2 in a fairly tight match. They then beat Cook Islands in a follow up friendly. Nicky Salapu was still in goal for them at age 43, and going a good job of it.
I actually hope San Marino can have more friendlies with like American Samoa and such. It's always better to have a competetive game, at any level, than a blowout.

This season, US Revel, a 6th division French team, played against PSG on Sunday at 8.45pm, which is unusual for amateurs and the whole world could watch them. I know they would lose the game and they lost 9-0. But they'll have memories to cherish forever.
imo, the lower levels of the game is where the true beauty can be found. i remember playing the 2010 world cup game endlessly bc of all the lower rated countries i could try to make a run with. its a shame that they no longer make standalone world cup games bc it disregards the names, stories, and nations that rarely see the spotlight

He was my youth coach for grass roots, I can say first hand he is one of the happiest people I’ve ever met.

I got vietnam to the semi finals of the 2014 world cup we got slapped up by Germany like 10-1 but we won the 3rd place match against south Africa 😂😂
