What an incredible offering. Glad you are boldly going where no gnome has gone before. 😊 I remember you talking many moons ago on your podcast about the very first gnome first gnome you were designing, and it’s so exciting to have seen your journey. Can’t wait to see where this gnext path takes you! Looking forward to zooming with the gnomies. 😊❤️
My plan is to make a Gnome 101 video series as part of this, but don't wait on me. It may be late January before I get that ready. I suggest Gno Fun Like Gnome Fun as a good first gnome, or Never Not Gnoming. They're both designed to be simple.
I’m in!!! Gnitting is one of my happy places for sure. I appreciate the time you put into your clearly written easy to follow patterns and useful video tutorials. Can’t wait to be a part of this challenge. Thank you!
Ordered a giant selection of minis from Four Purls (thanks for recommendation) this week and JD was awesome! I'll make January gnome as soon as it arrives!
I've never knit a gnome, then on Finnish Knitting Stories, she showed hers (your pattern), and I just had to make one. Now I found The Year of Gnomes - joy has filled my heart and yarn has been ordered from Miss. Babs. Thank you for doing something fun🙂
I love this idea so much! After a brief discussion with the hubster, I feel like stash gnomes might be my way forward. They will be an eclectic, colourful brood.
Great video! I signed up for Patreon and found it interesting that the cost in the US is in USD. I hope you get all of that given the conversion rate! Excited for the Year of Gnomes!! 😍
I can’t wait. I’ll have to hunt for my collection of your gnome patterns. Ah, something to do when I’m not frantically trying to get Christmas presents done and in the mail.
Is it possible (not too much w*rk or too late) to add yarn weight to the tables? And will you have a Gnome Bundle with all 12 current patterns available for sale on your site?
The yarn table is all fingering weight. I wish I would have thought to add that. I will see about updating it without breaking all the links... Hmmm... As for a sale, I have a constant sale on Ravelry where if you buy 3 patterns the 4th is free. All you need to do is put 4 patterns in your cart and the discount is automatic.
I would love to start knitting gnomes but do not have a wool shop close by. Is there any wool shops in Canada (preferably BC) that is participating that I can order the wool from?
Good question. A quick look through the list reveals two Canadian shops taking part: River City Yarns is in Edmonton, AB. Sue2Knits and Yarn is in Ontario. Ancient Arts Yarns is a Canadian dyer taking part.
No, I actually have 2 of every colour but didn't want to hold them all! If you look at the table I made with all the gnomes yards/meters and totals, you'll get a sense of what you need. I think that only 1 white would do, but I got 2 just so I could choose to use white for some of the main colours as well. www.imaginedlandscapes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Year-of-Gnomes-Yarn.pdf
It's more like 2-2-2-1 with the buffer I include. Here's a table if you like looking at the numbers: www.imaginedlandscapes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Year-of-Gnomes-Yarn.pdf
Sounds like fun ! Knitting my first gnome in the 2021 MKAL. Will there be any Australian dyers or shops participating? Hopefully there is , Karen Bridget
Many of your gnomes require different weight yarns. How do we handle that if we want to keep the same color palette? What is the weight of yarn on the colors that you selected?
I love your gnomes . I was led here after accidentally seeing year of the gnome mentioned on 4purls. Their site led me to a ravelry group, which led me to this video. This started out great but you lost me by the 7 minute mark. Talking about Canadian patrons (?) blah blah. I don’t live in Canada, so thats where my elderly mind shut down. I’m still trying to figure out if the $ exorbitant $ 178 cost of Emma yarn kits includes the 12 patterns. Would I need to pay extra for the patterns?
The yarn dyers sell the yarn. I sell the patterns. But you do not need to buy 12 patterns. It's not required that you knit 12 different patterns. If you want to join in all 12 months you could knit the same pattern more than once, for instance. And two of my patterns have 3 gnomes each in them.
I don’t have them bundled, since there are no required patterns to knit and people can even choose to knit the same gnome over and over. But on Ravelry there is a Buy 4 and 1 is Free discount that automatically happens, no code needed. Make sure you use the ‘add to cart’ option rather than the ‘buy now’ option. As you check out, you should see that one of the 4 patterns is discounted to $0.

This is just what I needed to get started on knitting Gnomes! I have had stage fright about starting - looking forward to learning new skills in 2022

Great idea! I look forward to making more gnomes in 2022.
This sounds like a blast. I've been wanting to knit more and more of the patterns you've already published.
This sounds so fun!!! What a way for our family to grow!!!!
What a fun video and a fabulous idea! I can’t wait. I love your coordinated color palette.
Love gnomes and this may be the winter pick me up I need. I think 4 colours is a great idea as well.
Lol I absolutely love your gnome patterns!!!!!
Your big Gnatalie is fabulous and make me want to knit one of my gnomes for next year in a big size. I'm so excited for this.
I did two years of afghan CAL …
This will be a great change of pace!
Especially for an introverted homebody like me.
I've never knit a gnome, then on Finnish Knitting Stories, she showed hers (your pattern), and I just had to make one. Now I found The Year of Gnomes - joy has filled my heart and yarn has been ordered from Miss. Babs. Thank you for doing something fun🙂
We are going to have a blast!
I love this Sarah! This will be so much fun!!
I only found your gnomes last month, through a zoom with Rowan. They look like a lot of fun. I'm hoping to juggle time a little more to join in.
i'm in !!!! pretty cool idea , i love it ! i'll prepare my little bags and print some instructions now ! so exited
So excited! Bring in the Gnew year!
I love this idea so much! After a brief discussion with the hubster, I feel like stash gnomes might be my way forward. They will be an eclectic, colourful brood.
I am so in on this. I’m in the process of knitting 4 different gnomes right now, while watching your video!
You sound like an octopus! Perfect for knitting multiple gnomes! 🤣
I just spoke with my mom about making a garland if gnomes...perfect
OMG I need the fiew pattern missing .... and I love your idea for all in same yarn
This is going to be so fun.
Brilliant idea, looking forward to it 😁
I love this idea! I really want to do this
This sounds so fun!! :)
Love those!! You are so talented!
Thanks so much 😊
This is so much fun!
I want to knit the earrings!
This will be so fun!
Love the idea of the Zoom community knitting!
Me too!!
How exciting! I'm in! Lov
I wish I had found you sooner Sarah. I’m so late to the party. I’m the lady wearing the gnibblet earrings on your embroidery zoom, the new girl. 😊
I'm thinking that 2025 might be another Year of Gnomes...
@@imaginedlandscapes Yay!
Gosh, I'm a slow, new knitter .. but when I hear Gnomes are involved, I have to give this a try.
Yes yes yes!
Great video! I signed up for Patreon and found it interesting that the cost in the US is in USD. I hope you get all of that given the conversion rate! Excited for the Year of Gnomes!! 😍
I think it converts it to certain funds if Patreon is in that currency, otherwise you see the Canadian cost. What did you pay in USD?
@@imaginedlandscapes $2.50 US
I love the Gnomes!!! Sounds like so much fun. Will you be introducing any new gnomes in 2022?
Will I? Will I?
Oh. Yes.
Ooooooooooh, yes! 😉
I can’t wait. I’ll have to hunt for my collection of your gnome patterns. Ah, something to do when

Yay! Can’t wait!
I’ve bought 8 of your patterns. Which pattern, do you think, would be the easiest to start with?
Gno Fun Like Gnome Fun and Never Not Gnoming are the simplest, with Oh, Gnome You Didn't not far behind
Do we have to start the gnome in the month in which we finish the gnome? Can I include gnomes I’ve started in the past that I haven’t finished?
No gnomes in progress, and they do need to be started and finished in the month to be entered.
I would love to start knitting gnomes but do not have a wool shop close by. Is there any wool shops in Canada (preferably BC) that is participating that I can order the wool from?

Hi will the 4 skeins do all 12 gnomes?
I'm going to say it will because for the two years of gnoming I've been participating in I've used some oddballs left over from socks over and over.
No, I actually have 2 of every colour but didn't want to hold them all! If you look at the table I made with all the gnomes yards/meters and totals, you'll get a sense of what you need. I believe so. Check the dyer list tomorrow. I'll be looking at the signups today and updating the list.
So when do we start??
January 1 or after. We are already chatting about it on Ravelry, Instagram, and Patreon, though!
Many of your gnomes require different weight yarns. How do we handle that if we want to keep the same color palette? What is the weight of yarn on the colors that you selected?
All of the gnomes have a fingering weight version. Some of them offer other weights as options, but they all have fingering weight as a baseline.
Thanks much. After reading over several of your patterns, I thought that might be the case. I made several in worsted weight but that was my choice.
This looks so fun! Is there a way to buy several of your patterns together? An ebook or something?
I don’t have them bundled, since there are no required patterns to knit and people can even choose to knit the same gnome over and over.
But on Ravelry there is a Buy 4 and 1 is Free discount that automatically happens, no code needed. Make sure you use the ‘add to cart’ option rather than the ‘buy now’ option. As you check out, you should see that one of the 4 patterns is discounted to $0.
I’m in, 😍
How exciting! I'm in! Love the all grey one with some twisted cable stitches, which gnome is he?
Look for the Gnot Just Another Gnome pattern.
That's Here We Gnome Again, the worsted version. Her name is Gnancy. 🍄
I'll be jumping on that one! You know I haven't turned down a Gnome MKAL in two years so this will be even more fun.
I don't know how many I can knit but I'm in!
You only need to knit one to be officially successful! Low-stress
I gather you will design some new gnomes during the year of 2022 we can enter in the Knit-a-Long as well,
Absolutely! Any of my published patterns for gnomes will count, not just the ones out now. And I have some very gnomey plans for 2022.
Andleitung in deutsch 😢
Alle meine Wichtelmuster sind in deutscher Übersetzung verfügbar.
How exciting! I'm in! Lov
