Love this stuff. I used to write for logistics trade magazines and went on a press trip to Louisville for UPS. They even took us out on the ramp at midnight and let us sit in the cockpit of a cargo 747. It probably seems boring to many people, but in reality it's a very exciting market.
That said, those two employees who are shown doing things that go against FedEx/UPS "corporate values" and then being fired had probably been driven to the point of cerebral haemorrhage by the minute micromanagement of every second, every motion they make in their trucks, not to mention the intense deadline pressure every day.
Im watching this because i can’t believe how fast my package will be delivered. From Argentina to the us, going through brazil, Colombia and many us states in only a few days. Blows my mind
Aloha, I work for The UPS Store.... now you see why we pack things the way we do......strong boxes, lots of bubble wrap and peanuts... we want your package to arrive in one piece.
Maybe you can answers this. I used to live in a tiny town in Kansas. Far far away from any major airport. How the hell did UPS deliver overnight? It's amazing.
9:50 This is fascinating. I am sure that makng more right turns is easier when drive on the right. Remember though some places drive on the left, so left turn is best for delivery in the UK for example, since right turns take longer and slightly more hazardous.
Bar codes and IATA codes for airports, the chuckers at FedEx sort according to the 4 letter air port codes, there's always a prefix that's why it's 4. When I worked in the secondary at FedEx the minimum rate was 23 boxes a minute. At that rate you gotta throw to keep up
FedEx lost my packages twice in the last 6 months. And I have used them only twice. I have used UPS more than 20 times in the last 3 months and I have never had an experience of lost package with them.
I have been with UPS fifteen years. Congratulations on your one year anniversary. Well done!! Be on time and call in only when true and necessary. Treat your shift manager or supervisor well. Avoid missorts because they are bad. Work hard and th promotions offers will come. Do not be afraid to try and learn something new. Hang in there!!
I know you said FedEx Ground but I just want to state that FedEx Express gives pensions and real benefits to its employees. Even though FedEx Ground and Express both have FedEx in their names they are pretty much two completely different companies.
@@jeffreycairns767not anymore. They’re (FedEx) are trying to merge them. Ground delivers express packages as of 2020, and vice versa. And apparently ground is going to start doing pickups for express now to.
Iv been working for UPS for 2 years and so far its OKAY. If your a driver you have it made but anything else is just Part Time and making chump money. And it takes about 13 years to become a full-time driver while Fed Ex it takes about probably like a year or two to go full-time. Both company's have its pro's and con's.
Both companies good, UPS does more Ground, FedEx does more air express. Both are getting into each others core business. Key difference is the work force, Brown is unionized, FedEx's drivers aren't (their pilots are though).
The sequences in which a FedEx worker was carelessly chucking a computer monitor over a fence and when a UPS worker flashed the finger at a security camera made me remember another FedEx worker carelessly throwing packages into a FedEx van as if she were trying out for the US Olympic Team.
Shit gets handled roughly all the time. That's why there is something called PROPER PACKAGING. I work in logistics and I see unproper packaging more often than I see bad handling, and I more often see unproper packaging being the cause for damages or even losses than bad handling.
come work at either UPS or FedEx. we're expected to go through thousands of packages within 2 or 3 hour sorts. it's impossible to treat every package like a baby while trying to get the sort down on time. if you're worried about your package being damaged, insure it, and make sure it's packed correctly. not our fault if there is nothing inside the box protecting the item. if the package you received is damaged, you can return to sender.
+Mr. Hiram It's because of your greed. The west demand too much, meaning there will BE mistakes, it's impossible to do ALL this and not have mistakes once in a while. People a 1000 miles away want their parcel is less than 12 hours and want to pay affordable prices at the same time.
Mr. Hiram And like i said, because of the greed of the west. We are the ones who asked for this. Do you know how easy it is to lose a parcel? Look at all those sorting machines and planes they use, all it takes is for one parcel to just drop, or have a label fall off. And boom ,you'll never see that parcel again. The fact is because of they way consumers demanding from companies, these companies are doing crazy things to satisfy those demands. That means, there WILL be mistakes. You CANNOT be loading millions of parcels from trucks to planes, to several warehouses everyday and not have one or two parcels lost in a while.
Mr. Hiram they get scanned multiple times and if there isn't a updated scanner tag then the machine will push it aside and a worker will manually tag it
I'm glad you had a positive experience with UPS. Unfortunately I cannot say the same. Many years ago I worked as a truck loader with the UPS hub in Parsippany NJ and it was the worst and most God forsaken job experience of my entire professional life. They worked us like dogs with little pay and you were not allowed to seek full time hours. Horrible.....
The shipping business will remain strong until we find out how to 3d print everything from home! You want a new tv let me 3d print that. You want some McNuggets let me 3d print those too!!
Algorithms are the way of how the computer software designed to work, as it's a step by step procedure for calculations that used to calculate data processing, and automated reasoning or instructions. Ex: why first truck has 300 package while the second one has 100? because there is a different in package size for example, and the computer( or the software algorithm decided that depending on many calculation for the packages size and trucks size etc...).
Fedex is the fastest for overseas shipments, and overnight. UPS is good for hazmat shipments inland, non time essential packages. USPS is good for APO military shipments, envelope mail, and non time essential packages.
Only through automation and smart processes can business grow fast. I've put together a few videos in my channel (this applies for UPS shippers using WorldShip). Also to ship smarter, companies need to learn how to automate their processes.
Now if both companies could explain how a package can go across the states from the east coast to the west coast in about a day, yet it takes 5 days to travel 50 miles. However that's only if you go with 3 day ground service with both of them.
even though knocking or ringing the door bell is technically "required" by drivers, drivers dont like knocking on doors to let customers know they dropped something off because customers tend to hold them up and conversate with them a lot of the time. customers do not understand how busy the driver's schedule is and they must keep moving to get done. i work for fedex express, just telling you how the business is run.
