  • This video walks you through the steps to refurbish your PEX surface to get adhesion back to the way it was when it was new! It's a simple process just have the following items on hand for this and for periodic cleaning:
    Acetone (pure hardware store variety not nail polish remover)
    -Isopropyl alcohol (91% or higher from drug store)
    -Clean paper towel
    -000 Steel wool
    -Goggles and rubber gloves
    Just scrub lightly with steel wool and a bit of acetone, being careful not to get the acetone under the PEX sheet and onto the 3M tape.
    Clean with a paper towel.
    Add some isopropyl alcohol and wipe with a fresh paper towel.
    And your PEX should be revitalized and ready to go!

    My WhamBam order arrived to me in North Carolina in 5 days .. very pleased with how easy it is to pop parts off without putting un-needed stress on the printer bed... Parts stick stronger then stock bed.. after each print I start with a quick wipe with the 000 steel wool and finish with a paper towel and alcohol..

    wow! thanks. The care sheet didn't say anything about the Acetone. Found a set of 3 dispenser bottles on Amazon for about $7. 3 different sizes. I love my Wham Bam on my ender 5. (i'm allen)

      Hello Allen, you don’t need it unless you notice loss of adhesion and need a deep clean

    My PEX sheet have little scratches, almost invisible, but when I print you can see those scratches in the bottom of the print... Will this method help me to get rid of it?

    • @WhamBamSystems
      @WhamBamSystems  4 года назад +1

      yes, depending on how deep the scratches are, I would suggest first trying some vigorous scrubbing with 000 steel wool and alcohol, if this doesnt remove the scratches you can try with some 220 sandpaper mounted to a flat block, then 330 sand paper then steel wool. if using sand paper clean surface very well with alcohol and paper towel before using steel wool as sandpaper has chemicals that can contaminate build surface.

    will this help a bed that's been ruined by using stock Bambu PETG settings? Wish the wham bam came with a warning to not use Bambu settings AT ALL or else you'll ruin it on your first print. :(

  • @TheSpiffytool

    if im using steel wool will these little scratches transfer to the bottom of my prints?

    • @WhamBamSystems
      @WhamBamSystems  5 лет назад +1

      If you use very fine steel wool 000 or 0000 it will leave a smooth but satin finish on bottom of print, it’s like using 400 - 600 grit sand paper

      I print parts every day and so far have printed over 40 parts since installing my WhamBam system on my Artillery Sidewinder X1 V4 .. I use the 000 steel wool after each print and haven't noticed the steel wool scratches showing in my parts...

    Hi Me again, I have some gauges on my build plate , I changed my nozzle with out lowering the bed and it gouged the PEX, can it be wet sanded to remove and even out? or will that completely remove the coating and should just be replaced? Please advise.

    How can I remove my damaged Pex sheet and replace it with a new one? Should I het it up peel then let some acetone go between the pex sheet and steel sheet?

    • @WhamBamSystems
      @WhamBamSystems  3 года назад +3

      Here is our recommendation for removing the build surface from the flexi plate, you will need: Cardboard to protect your work surface, lots of paper towels, rubber gloves, protective glasses, a spatula, and acetone or Goo Gone.
      -It's easier to remove the build surface sheet if you put the whole flexi plate in the freezer for half an hour.
      -Once you remove the build surface sheet, then you need to remove the exposed 3M glue. Work over the cardboard wet the glue well with acetone or Goo Gone, cover with acetone/Goo Gone soaked paper towels. Let sit.
      -Scrape off glue gunk with a scraper, wiping down scraper with a paper towel (or scraping off onto cardboard) after each swipe, and repeat until clean
