    When I was 15 and had my first job I decided to build a 93 hatchback, ended up with 4 of them and one with all the goodies you could want. 3 were salvage titled but one was clean and had 70k original miles, so I took all the good parts off of all the other ones, got some aftermarket suspension components, did paint, and then decided that I wanted it faster, and went on the journey of figuring out how engines work so I could turbo it. 19 years old now, rockin with the 530 hp turbo civic, a 96 tacoma, and a 04' wrx hatchback. Cars are amazing!

      13 year old here, young but wanted to know, what is your recommendation for a first car to modify?

    • @Slumpy_Sloth
      @Slumpy_Sloth Год назад

      @@iamkneeoh4031 that depends on what you can find in your area, ya know? Honestly, and I know this might sound like the bullshit answer, but just go for whatever is cheap. If you have the facilities to fix up cosmetic issues, such as rust/dents and stuff, you might go for something a little bit worse for wear just cause it’s cheaper. If you know that’s out of the option, go for something a bit more pricy but in better condition. Finding things for cheap really just comes down to knowing what to look for. Finding my vehicles if I’m looking for something to fix up, I’ll typically look for mechanic special or blown motor type deals! As far as specific vehicles, that’s all gotta come down to personal taste and how much flavor you wanna add. I recommend something cheaper though, because the cheaper cars have cheaper parts to fix or modify, and it can allow you to save up money for a bigger/more high end project. In my case, I started with a ‘93 Honda civic hatchback, built that how I wanted it on a low income job($11.15/h, working 40 hours a week), and then had a nice, fun car to drive while I saved up money for a bigger project. Related to my last post, I sold the Subaru and the Toyota, and put together some saved money from higher paying jobs, and now I’m building a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 :) it all comes down to personal taste brother. There’ll be discouraging moments when you’re building something if you keep it long enough where it seems like nothing is going right, but it’s definitely worth it having a car that you can 100% call your own. Another piece of advice I have, is do your research, and keep in mind the saying “do it nice, or do it twice.” Hope this helps, glad to see someone young wanting to get into the scene 🤙

      my ef civic is ~31 years old and the chassis is fine. the age really doesnt matter, what matters is if its in good condition so try to convince them and have the seller let you inspect or take it to a mechanic to inspect before purchasing. i will say this, anything earlier that 2000 will usually require suspension tuning up. age really only hits anything made from rubber (ball joints, bushings, etc). im assuming its at least a 2002 so you should be fine. i got em1 and the rubber bits are still holding up so 20 years isnt that concerning.

    I used to drive a 97 civic hatch and i really learned how to work on cars bc of it. I crashed it, fixed it, then lost motivation to even work on it/drive it so i sold it and got an 06 RSX Type S and its so much better in every way. I highly recommend a Type S if anyone is looking for a car
