F-ONE Phantom 1780 - Dockstarts, Pumping & Boat Wakes - First Impressions

- This is not a Foil for beginners in pumpfoiling. As you need a decent amount of Speed to start it from the dock its quite difficult to dockstart and I think I would not get it going from a lot of different places. But once you get it going, Oh Boiii its quite some fun! Due to its rather thin profile it feels super efficient. If you compare it to a my favourite Gong Setup the Curve XLT, it feels like there is no Drag at all. specially in a proper Boat wake. Also it feels amazingly stable once you gain some speed and in the Boat Wake its just pure fun. It likes to turn, but only if you want it too. Still the XLT feels more playfull to me... Therefore the Phantom 1780 is faster, more stable and feels way way way more comfortable when you get faster. There is nothing moving around, no flexion in the Mast, not anything I could complain about the quality.

Nice, du bist ja doch der deutsche Wake Thief, so viele Wings, wie du derzeit testest:). Ich hab letztens gebraucht noch ein axis 1010 gefunden. Du motivierst mich, dass ich auch mal ein review video mache. Wird nur langsam kalt und so gut pumpen wie du kann ich noch lange nicht.
Jaa langsam wächst der Kanal :D Sehr geil, habe letzte Woche noch den 1150 getestet und die Teile sind echt unglaublich!! Ich habe aber eh das Gefühl das 99% der Leute auf RUclips eher nach Anfänger related Tips und so suchen. Ich würde mir ein Review auf jeden Fall anschauen :)
Hydrofoil is my dream. With an income of $ 400 and prices that are more expensive than in Europe, unrealizable.
They are truly expensive:/ But, you can get some for up to 400$, if you build the Board for your self and order only a cheap Foil.

How much of an impact from the water/waves do you feel when pumping upwind? I tried to dock start in onshore conditions a couple of times and felt like I couldn't get any speed at all. Also: when you do these carved 180s - where do you put your weight? Front foot? Back foot? Somewhere in between?
Huge Impact! It takes way more energy to pump upwind and you need to maintain more speed to keep it going (at a least it feels like it, might be because of created apparent wind...)
For the carves I have way more back foot pressure. Therefore I sometimes even move the Back Foot further back to get more pressure.. But it also Depends on the foil: With this one (a relatively small one) The weight is maybe 60% back, 40% front. With a big one like the Rise XXL it feels like 80% back, 20% front.

Thanks mate! Unfortunately not. But it would be cool to see if it's possible, as there are other Foils like the Kujira 1440 that are dockstartable.. :)

what is your weight? With 75kg I can do it? Maybe 1480?
I'm 85 kg. I'm not sure bout that but I would bet that you could if you got enough speed. Only one way to find out ;)
Better then the 1150?
I would argue that both have their pros and cons. 1780 turns better, 1150 is more efficient in short form :D
