When recommending the use of essential oils, please warn your viewers that some are toxic to pets... some mildly and some dangerously toxic. In the formula recommended here, eucalyptus would be one not to use in a room where dogs might be. I couldn't figure out why my dog kept leaving the room when I used certain oils. Thankfully, I learned the lesson before anything serious happened. Others haven't been so fortunate. :(
Lemon is bad for dogs too !!
Stop placing blame on OTHERS.
Thank you for sharing! I used on guard and clove oil in my mix, perfect for cleaning in the fall and winter season. So easy to make, and it smells so good with the essential oils.
Thank you Jan ! I love the sanitizing spray idea . Stay safe

I love this disinfectant tip but as of June 14, 2020, there is still no rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide in my local grocery or drug stores. These items have been sold out for months.
@M. Jacobson where's your website?
Thank you! I do this all the time and I will try out your scent combo! I love spraying freshness.
You are so welcome.
We can’t find alcohol or Peroxide in rural Missouri, they go as fast as they come in.. but I will keep this info, thanks great help.
Try witch hazel in place of the isopropyl alcohol. That's what I use as a substitute! But it is also hard to find. Try dollar store just make sure it's not made in China
@@micheleybarra6253 witch hazel will NOT kill coronavirus
Michele Ybarra witch hazel does not work against the virus at all.
Thank you madam. It's very useful.
Great if you can find alcohol or peroxide...i look in every store i go to.
You are bestest Jan😍😍
Good information
Thank you!
Thank You. It's very useful.
Excellent! Thank you so much
Jan my first time watching you and I love ❤️ you! I really love the masks ty so much
Is there an expiry period for the disinfectant?
Must pay attention to the ingredients that will all now become unobtainable after the stampede. I can hear it already-" Moooo! - Rumble rumble- Must buy up all rubbing alcohol, every last bottle of hydrogen peroxide and essential oil available! Mooooo!" -Watch out, don't get trampled!
I know what you mean! My husband found some at a Dollar General that is close to our beach house early on in the pandemic and bought a dozen bottles of it. I have enough alcohol to last a lifetime.
Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Years ago I ditched chemical-laden cleaners and started using 2 separate spray bottles for my kitchen counters: straight peroxide, wipe, then follow it up with straight vinegar. Adding the e.o. to vinegar makes it smell fresh!
Do you have to add essential oil? I have been using a spray bottle of just 70% alcohol on my iphone and computer items daily but I don't think my iphone screen will like oil. Also, what is purpose of adding peroxide? I ask only b/c I've only been using alcohol and wondering if I've been Under disinfecting.
I use 5 teaspoons of bleach to a quart of water and add a teaspoon of Dawn. Use at your discretion. I spray directly onto knobs, etc. and spray it on a cloth when I'm wiping my cell phone and p.c keypad. Don't use it for a hand sanitizer and don't drink it....just thought I'd add that.
No you do not need the oils
@@kaygenio2129 bleach is slower to sanitize than alcohol. and bleach can change the color of what you are spraying it on.
Yours will be better. This recipe has added lots of oils which mean it is no longer 70% alcohol (as per FDA recommendations) 😉
@@FionaC1 It takes nearly 600 drops of anything to make an ounce, so the amount of oils she's adding may dilute it it a tad but not enough to make a difference. Also, they each have disinfecting properties of their own. :-)
alcohol is hard to find here.
God bless you thank you so much 😇💞💯💙
You are so welcome
Thanks Jan;
I just threw out all my toxic chemicals , cleaners tonight. I’m not going to use them any more. I love this spray you made. I’m going to go make some in just a few minutes. I’m getting away from as many toxic chemicals as I can. Thanks for this great idea.
Wonderful!

Alcohol is flammable. Is it a good to leave in your car?
Since no one can find alcohol, you do know you can use denatured alcohol in the paint section it's basically the same thing but better/stronger.
Well, "technically" its not really the same thing... although it certainly will work like isopropyl alcohol in regards to making a disinfectant. Just be aware denatured alcohol products like those sold at Home Depot, Lowes, hardware stores etc, contain Ethanol that is denatured with Methanol, Hexane Or Heptane. As a result these commercial denatured alcohol products tend to be very harsh and will strip and dry your skin over time. NET: As mentioned by Marie... its okay for making a home made disinfectant but it might be best to wear gloves to keep you skin from drying out.

I randomly found little bottles of alcohol at 7-11 when I couldn't find it anywhere else. It's still a long shot, but keep an eye open.
You are the bestest Jan 💜
Thank you KIKI!
Thank you for sharing!!! Love safer non toxic remedies!! Stay safe!!
You are so welcome! Stay safe and keep smiling!
It was not long ago when the quote-unquote experts told us that overuse of disinfectants in the environment promoted the emergence of "superbugs".
PaxDisturbia yes,I am concerned about that as well. We have been easing off of the disinfecting. I don’t normally use antibacterial soaps or chemical disinfectants. Thanks for commenting
A global pandemic changes everything.
People can’t find Alcohol anywhere.
I bought 2x32 oz bottles of 70% alcohol at costco for 3.50/pair
Yes you can find at dollar tree stores💙
I've been looking for alcohol but not found sny. Do you know ehere i can ourchase some online?
amazon, walmart, walgreens, cvs, etc....
Nice!

There is a quora answer that says there is no point in mixing alcohol and H2O2 becausr they work in different way. Is that true? Is it really better to use either at one spray?
I'm sorry but I'm not aware of that.
Thank you, but no isopropyl alcohol or peroxide in my area of Michigan for at least the last 3 weeks. Also, I think it was WHO, maybe CDC, where I saw today, 4-17-20, that alcohol should be minimum 80%. I do have the oils, lol & hope the rest is available soon.
Do the spray leave a residue?
👍
Thank you
Great videos Thank You so much.

Where do you purchase the larger bottles? I know where I can get the small ones but I haven't seen the larger size.
HI Selena, the link for the bottles is in the description below. You can also find the link to the blog post that has a little more info in it. Here is the link to the larger 16 oz. bottles.

can add less alcohol and use water if my alcohol is 90%?
Yes you can I keep seeing 1 part alcohol 1 part water..kinda makes sense ( as long as it is distilled or purified water)
Danny26 Do NOT do 1 part water 1 part alcohol even with 90% alcohol. It won’t kill the virus. You should only add a little water.
@@BbGun-lw5vi for a non gel it's okay if it's 91%. But you are correct on not alot of water. Also should have glycerin or aloe vera added to not burn hands

So why not just you total rubbing alcohol to disinfect your objects ?
Non il faut spray le chiffon sinon celà détériore les appareils électroniques 🤤😲📱📲💻🚘
Just drank a gallon. I feel so much better.
@Jocelyn Morning Really? I can't wait to try that!
I heard alcohol evaporates to fast to be effective.
Waow
Why don't you explain why the oils are a disinfect properties
Problem now is we can only find %50 alcohol..Any suggestions?please
My Doctor's recipe calls for cheap rubbing alcohol ( so 50% would work fine) half&half with hydrogen peroxide. She didn't use essential oils but they add scent and additional cleaning.
Does this kill the Corona virus?
Looks like a potent injection🕺🏽
Thank you though... as soon as possible will make it
We can’t get isopropyl in Canada, sold out as well
The main ingredient (isopropyl alcohol) is not available anywhere!!!
Looking for isopropy alcohol? Try Family Dollar, Dollar General, or convenience store. I always find some. I've probably bought 4 bottles in the past 2 weeks...
naywahn Watch out because most dollar stores have 50% isopropyl alcohol. And you need at least 60% to kill viruses.
People are using 50% alcohol and mixing it with aloe Vera gel to make sanitizers and now the percentage is even lower.
@@BbGun-lw5vi
I just used up a bottle of 91%, and I'm on 1 of 2 bottles of 70%. 👍
Or you can try and google for isopropyl alcohol online. Getting them online has been easier a few months after February. It might cost a little more though.
You need to use the 90+% isopropyl alcohol for something like this. Starting at 70% then diluting it even more is not good enough. Please tell everyone to not use 70%.
As long as it doesn't dilute below 60%, 70% is just fine!
Hi, great video, can you also spray that inside of the masks we are using today?
Thanks
It's pretty strong smelling. I would not recommend it!

Can you use this on clothing/costumes?
I'd also like to know this answer please... can it be used on upholstery, pillows, mattresses??? TY ☺
why do you add all of the essential oils in one mix? why not just one?
All the e.o. are beneficial. Using only one is good too. They all cleanse & purify surfaces and freshen the air. Great to use in a diffuser.
Thank you for clarifying. I have a couple EO’s already I didn’t want to have to hunt for the others if I had to use all of them together. 😊
This will make things smell good. If lavender oil and lemon oil actually disinfected, they would be gone from the stores.
IS IT DRINKIBLE ????
