I have been homeschooling since 2002 and keeping the house clean with a full time houseful of people has been my Waterloo. But we just KEEP ON. That is my mantra. The walk outside is a sanity saver, especially now. Thanks for your great ideas as alwsys, Kathryn! 💜

I've been making the alcohol based wipes for years, ever since I saw them on this channel. The combo of alcohol, Dawn dish soap, and water works great for disinfecting without bleach. The soap disrupts the virus cell walls, , the alcohol kills bacteria, and the water in the wipes both washes and kind of rinses. This is one of best ideas you've ever shared. Thank you!

Yep! I use the alcohol based wipes too because to me, I want the sanitizing wipes to be skin safe, especially at a time like this when the gloves may almost perpetually sold out or unaffordable.
Alcohol might dry out your skin a little bit, but it won't eat your skin or do other harm to your skin like bleach does.

Hi. I have an 82 yr old bed bound Mom in Hospice who I'm trying to protect. There are daily CNA's & nurses who come. So I have to disinfect the metal bed rails, plastic remote, all the plastic containers they touch, front door knob, etc.
Will this rust the metal bed rails or door knobs? Any help will be appreciated.
Anything one suggests has to be homemade, because I am unable to leave the house. Thanks everyone. 😊

Even before the corona virus, I always carry a small spray bottle (from dollar tree) filled with rubbing alcohol. I carry baby wipes to wipe my hands and then spray rubbing alcohol onto my hands. I never like the sticky feel of hand sanitizer. Also, I believe alcohol is better than hand sanitizer. I have a small bottle of hand lotion as well to keep my hands from drying.

Stay safe...sending you light and love. 💕 i have also been making a house cleaner for years with rubbing alcohol, tea tree oil (naturally antibacterial and antifungal), and for hand sanitizer i add aloe vera (from a big plant i have that keeps multiplying!). healthier for you...healthier for the environment. wishing you all much health and peace.

My extended family is HUGE.... like 38 first cousins, and for Upstate New York we are almost unheard of in our communities. But because of this to stay in touch my sister has started a group message board for our entire family, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Sisters, Brothers, Dads, and Mothers. It’s so comforting to be able to see that people who you might have lost contact with are safe and you can jump in and start up a conversation with them.

As someone, who has a Senior Leadership role in ensuring the safety & wellness of our elder population, who are as vulnerable as the youngest citizens, as well. I can assure you, that if you follow the CDC recommendations for staying well during this unique era, we find ourselves in.....you are doing the best thing possible.

Some stores have been having stock of store brand bleach. The only issue is that the store or generic brands haven't been tested by the CDC to make sure they work as well as the brand name counterparts. However, FDA usually does performance testing to make sure they match brand name guidelines. So, if you can find generic, go for it. Another option is to try an online order. Often stores have limited how much you can online order and you have to do it first thing, early in the morning to guarantee finding certain items. Some items are only available first thing in the morning when stores open and you do have to get in line. The other option is if you know your stores aren't limiting certain items is to ask to group with friends. This means whoever can get to the store grabs items for people who need it and then you reimburse one another. You can also collectively plan to go to different stores and each grab multiples of different products at each store simultaneously. Yes, this ends up looking like bulk buying but as long as you're sharing with others, I think that is what matters. We are limited in my area, but I buy items for my mom and dad who are divorced and live separately plus my own family. Everything was limited where I went, so I had to hop around from store to store and I did take advantage of one store with toilet paper that was not limiting. Someone got mad at me and I told them straight out I wasn't buying only for myself. I doubt they believed me, but they don't have to. I watched another guy take just about the whole crate. Sometimes when people do grab a bunch, they're not only just supplying for themselves or they may have a much larger family. Sure there are people who are hoarding. Also, make sure you are following the CDC guidelines. Straight bleach on everything is a WASTE and can destroy materials and ruin them. It's also dangerous to breathe in -excessive- fumes or those already with lung issues and allergies. Make sure you are properly diluting chemical cleaners that are stated to kill the virus as well as having proper ventilation.

The Clorox wipes would only be good for a few hours after making them. Clorox once diluted quickly loses its effectiveness. Bleach mixed with water at a 1:9 ratio (i.e. 10 percent bleach) is potent for about a day (it's more unstable in its diluted form).

Thank you for pointing this out. I did some research and higher ratios (say 1:4) can last a week or more. I was thinking more spray bottle use.

Right I prefer using portable sprayer and a paper towles so I just spray where I need to disinfect I leave it for 10 min then I wipe it. It is the same idea just buy an empty bottle. I also change the solution daily

Clorox Wipes is a product name, Clorox is a brand name used by The Clorox Company. Bleach is not one of the ingredients in Clorox Wipes--the active ingredient is isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol). They do not contain sodium hypochlorite (bleach). You can read the list here: www.smartlabel.org/products?company=thecloroxcompany&brand=Clorox.

Brian Rener Yes! Also the active ingredient in bleach, sodium hypochlorite, can vary on the brand. 2-10%. So that also can affect the efficacy.

Also, if you didn't think of it already, RE-USE THE EMPTY WIPES CONTAINER!!! I've been keeping them to use for all kinds of small storage, most notably plastic shopping bag dispensers. Recycling project 2-for-1😁 here's a link for the way to fold the bags and decorate the container...

Happy Scrapper Mom of 3 It’s ok to clean with vinegar, but vinegar does not kill viruses.

    • @MsPacNWer1
      @MsPacNWer1 4 года назад

Per testing, vinegar will NOT disinfect viruses. According to CDC & NSF (a public health & safety organization), vinegar (or vinegar-based alternative cleaning products) should not be used to disinfect or sanitize. Vinegar can be used as a cleaner but is ineffective against most bacteria & viruses - tests proved it does not kill the flu or coronavirus. Undiluted white vinegar may work on some limited types of bacteria, but it's not the best way to get surfaces germ-free. Don't believe everything you see online, use science testing sources. WHAT CDC RECOMMENDS: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cleaning-disinfection.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fprepare%2Fcleaning-disinfection.html

    ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'd rather make sure bleach is in them, than those wipes inside the grocery stores! Most say sanitizer wipes & not all of those will work for the CV19.
Thanks again for all your tips! ❤

one of the best ways to homeschool is just live life and explain and teach as you go. ask questions (you be amazed at what they already have figured out without us) and show them how to find answers. you are not the grand Oracle of knowledge, so relax, you have to show them how to question and how to find the answers and then to question the answers. question-answer-question the answer.
