    The theme of Tim’s story, is him not only trying to cope with Bruce being gone, but to understand the chess game with Alfred

    Today I learned that "Rook" is popular among Tim fans as a potential new codename for him. I wonder if the GK staff knew that or if it is a coincidence.

    As I'm someone whose actually read the comics starring Tim Drake as Robin. I feel sorry for this young man because he's lost two father figures both his dad, Jack Drake and Batman his own mentor . Tim's own dad was murdered by Captain Boomerang, yes the famed Flash villain himself in the Identity Crisis story arc.

    Can someone tell me of this is an accurate description of Tim Drake's Character?
    He's the one member of the batfam, of the Robins, I know he's important but I can't get an idea of or voice for the character.

    • @rachelbreitweiser
      @rachelbreitweiser Год назад +47

      I AM A TIM EXPERT IM SO OBSESSED WITH HIM ILL EXPLAIN.
      The first scene is really in character. Tim idolizes Batman and became Robin to save Batman from himself. He believes that it doesn't matter what happens to him as long as Batman survives because Batman can save the city. This really shows how much he thinks of Bruce by showing that he literally can't think of a way he could win without him.
      In scene two i think it's important to note that in the comics when Bruce died, Tim thought he was alive and went on a two year journey after cutting off all his family and friends to search for him. The scene is accurate if Tim went to therapy a little. I feel as though if this were set in the comics that Tim would be a bit more aggressive after Jason calls him out on wanting to bring Bruce back. But all of the nervousness before he brings the topic up is very in character for him. Especially because he's talking about the pit which is what caused Jason to almost kill Tim when he was brought back. This is once again showing that Tim gives no regard to his safety as long as Batman comes back, knowing that it would make Bruce more aggressive.
      I really like how Tim refers to himself as Robin in Scene 3. He has always had this sort of disconnect between himself and Robin. Tim Drake is a failure while Robin gives him purpose, a way to be useful to other people. I honestly don't know much about his relationship with Alfred so I enjoy watching them interact. I feel as though it's very in character for Tim to want to know exactly how to win. He fears failure and so he's always searching for the correct way to do certain things. So Alfred is exactly right, he needs to branch out and use his problem solving skills. He has such brainpower that sometimes he doesn't use out of wanting to do it the way Batman or Robin would do it instead of how Tim would do it. Glorified fanboy.
      In scene 4 you may be thinking, oh if he's a Batman fan why didn't he want all Batman stuff instead of Bruce stuff? Well Tim has known Batman and Robins (both robins) Identities since he was really young, and went around taking pictures of them at night. He not only spent his childhood glorifying Batman, he also looked up to Bruce. He knew Bruce was Batman and then eventually became a part of the family. When he joined Batman was harsh and bitter towards him, as a tactic to try and get him to leave so he wouldn't be another robin that died. Tim didn't care, he wanted to help. He saw Batman for who he was. A struggling adult who lost his parents at a young age and then lost his kid who was a young age. He knows what Bruce went through and understands why he does what he does and he idolizes Bruce for doing that, probably even more so then the persona. He wanted to keep Bruce alive just as much if not more than Batman.
      Scene 5 shows the growth he's made in the game so it's obviously not gonna hit all of the points from the past because character growth means change, but it brings on different things that I've seen in the comics like how nerdy Tim is. Of course he would go for the play that he thought felt like teleporting. He loves the Bat ears on the chess set and always explains things more then he needs to. I love his character here. As much as I love the angst of the others, this one shows his lighthearted nature and how he is basically just a kid. He gets excited about things and is still learning to be himself. It's showing that even though he looks up to Bruce, he's not using batman's moves. He is choosing his own path to victory.

      @RachelMBreitweiser Thank you for this, I'm going to take screenshots of it and save them on my phone for later. I have so many ideas about the bat family, but it's tricky to figure out what to do with Tim. I know he's important. I don't know how to write him, unlike Dick, Jason, and Damian.
      Like, what unique superpower would fit his personality if the entire bat and family were to gain superpowers.
      Would Tim be Bruce's loyal right hand, or would Dick be it?

      @@maxamaxip129 the game isn’t high quality don’t get me wrong but the game has heart. The dynamic between characters feels a lot more like the Bat family than what we had in the Arkham games and the actual contained linear missions are actually pretty fun with much better designed interiors. Jason himself is a good take on the post red hood turned hero and Tim actually has a personality unlike the Arkham games.
      Still overall not a very good game but trying to come off as seeking deep value in this game just makes you pretentious and surface level.
