Absolutely Tom I believe in karma my wife thought it to me if you do good things for others generally good things will happen for you as well but I’ve noticed that it matters what you give out is what you get back. Although I have found that there’s no helping some people…….
I probably would’ve done a little bit better job if it wouldn’t have started down pouring while I was underneath these people‘s car but it did feel good to help somebody on the side of the road.
this just happened to me on my old subie impreza at around 11pm at night. lets just say the neighborhood i was in was none too pleased, so I made the quick repair and got on my way
I literally had this problem and drove 2.5 k km with the fix on the highway and in the cities. I used a usb charging cable and a bloody bicycle cable for tying it as high as I could to the car
Hey, Clay, the fastener that held my VW Jetta tailpipe in place rusted and broke. As a result, when I drive, my tail pipe moves a bit freely, making an ugly noise. Do you know what that welded fastener (factory welded to the muffler on one end and secured to the chassis by bolt on the other) is called? I don’t think it’s a hanger, and I can’t find a pic of one online. I was told that it can’t be replaced, and that I’d have to get a whole new muffler. My muffler is fine, so I didn’t believe the mechanic.
@ Thanks for your quick response, Clay! I thought the hanger was just the V-shaped rubber part. The part I’m referring to is the metal one that goes between the hanger and undercarriage. It attaches to the hanger and welded to the muffler on one end and on the other end, it’s bolted to the undercarriage. I went to one garage, and they told me they couldn’t weld that part, and that I’d have to drop a grand on a new muffler, which I suspect is bs. My muffler is fine - not one bit of rust on it. The only part that was rusted and broken is the metal connector I described above.
So what if someone is traveling and going back home and is stuck on the interstate 2 hours from home lol people always carry rachets with you they are handy!!!! My exhaust came down and burned my tire luckly i had a spare changed it out and tied my exhaust yes it made alot of noise but I made it in once piece
I wonder if a zip tie would have worked to hold the muffler part up instead of a second clamp. That might have made it easier to tighten to get it higher off the ground.
Whatever works my brother not bad thinking….. I think this is just a temporary solution till you can get a more permanent one. But you definitely get it
That’s most definitely something to be worried about this was a temporary solution to get it home or to the repair shop and not destroy it completely so it was not repairable. I would have to see what you’re working on to give you a solution other than going to the parts store and buying the correct parts to fix it. You can message me on clays ac and Auto Repair on Facebook then send me a DM and I’ll try to give you some ideas
Can the car continue to drive if the exhaust pipe falls off? That's what happened to me today. Can I just fix it and drive home? It's 40 minutes from home. Is it dangerous? thank you.
Well, it’s not really dangerous, but it is awfully annoying and you’re gonna get fumes inside the car. I do highly recommend though pick up whatever fell off because each part can get really expensive. Be safe
I didnt see this video until this morning after. I just strapped it to the bottom of the car with a bungie cord since i was close to home. But man oh man. Something oddly thrilling about doing a quick fix under your car as other cars go fast past you. Its like. Oh no im in danger hehe lol
I wouldn’t recommend doing it that way for a couple of months but you can get what’s called a stainless steel band clamp and put that over it and it will hold it for a long time if not forever until it rust out in a different spot

Good Job! Using your Skills to help someone in distress is Honorable, simply the Right thing to do.... which, sadly, has become very rare.

@@sharpcarco That is the Truth!
Dinner plans with friends??? I must have missed that memo... at least you were able to help a stranded motorist...mighty nice of you Clay!!!

Yeah, them cheeky neighborhoods are terrible
This is why I always had a wire coat hanger in my car
I’ll have to try this tomorrow. That’ll get it to the shop hopefully
I literally had this problem and drove 2.5 k km with the fix on the highway and in the cities. I used a usb charging cable and a bloody bicycle cable for tying it as high as I could to the car
🧐 smart !!
Problem is - most people won’t have two large hose clamps on them 😳

I think he said her name is Tabby. Lol My name is Tabi. And my muffler is dragging on the road too XD
🤔😂 the irony

Probably melt before she got home

That's what metal zip ties are for.

I have the same thing wrong with my car but I’m worried about carbon monoxide getting in what should I do?

I keep a small spool of bailing wire in my trcuk for a temporary fix for this
I have straight pipes in my car My muffler broke off behind idk whatever red they installed is it ok too drive ? Or will carbon fill the cabin
You got to be careful in that situation, making sure that you’re getting plenty of ventilation inside the vehicle
Good stuff
