- AHOY!
I have always wanted to recreate this, and boy I am SO GLAD I DID and I will not apologize for how many pirate/ship puns ensued.
I did my best to recreate this French trend, made memorable by Marie Antoinette, but put my own little twist on it :)

If you're looking for a name for the ship, I'd go with "The Headless Queen" -- it's both macabre and historically accurate!
Cut the skull off the skeleton for that finishing touch
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Probably Marks Antoinnette. She lost her head too. Big later, but just as effective to get rid of ,sadly, unwanted Queens😁
You're a monster...no feelings you have 🤦
Ah I love macabre
Some guy: I built a boat in a bottle from a kit!
Rachel: I built an undead pirate boat from scratch and put ut on my HEAD.
When you test to see if your husband notices your haircut
😂🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Why yes dear, I noticed. And I was 'blown away'! ;p
This is definitely a good idea 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
I’m imagining Nick coming home and you’re just sitting there like everything’s normal.
7 dislikes from the East India Trading Company.
Seriously though, that looks amazing!
😂
Hee hee! 😊They would!
HAHAHAHA
hahoheha
@@shine5495 Bertram's going goth in your town, I see
“Pull up to the club like what up, I gotta big ship”
😂😂😂🤣🤣🙌🙌🙌 "wassup wassup wassup"
I ship it.
"My Lady, the pirates have no water!"
"Let them drink rum!"
2 words. A. Men
😂😂😂😂
The fact that this glorious comment has not more upvotes makes me lose hope in humanity.
I love that this video was basically Rachel's version of Jenna Marbles' Me Time. I'm so here for Rachel doing whatever the heck she wants to.
6th grade Rachel: *rubs a tea bag on and burns the edges of a history paper to make it look like a ~whethered historical artifact~*
6th grade Rachel: yes. Yes. YES!
Hahaha YOU BET. *Adds fake blood stains and bullet holes and spiderwebs while I'm at it*
That's what I do
I used to "paint" the sheet of paper with coffee
it works very well
and to finish I burned the edges and smeared part of the paper with ashes
Rachel: oh its not gonna work
*works
Rachel: oh it worked
TRUST THYSELF, MATE!
"I found this metallic embroidery thread"
Oh no-
"Which I quickly found was the devil"
Why tho
.
@@CaptainAMAZINGGG She tried using it in her "Weasley Sweater" video and discovered it did not work nicely so she ditched it. She's saying it's basically been sitting in her supplies since then and she will never use it again lol
@@CaptainAMAZINGGG a lot of metallic thread is made of a thin foiled plasticky strip twined around a fine fiber core, and the foil likes to bunch up and stretch out and break, especially depending on how you sew with it, since the stitching motion rotates the thread and can loosen the twist, making it even more unwieldy.
Can confirm. Is the devil.
If it’s “bad luck” to have a woman on a ship it HAS to be good luck to have a ship on a woman. THIS WAS AMAZING HOLY SMOKES
Underrated comment.
ok 1. the craftsmanship (HA "ship") on that boat is amazing holy shit and 2. THE HAIR LOOKS AMAZING
11/10 pun ~ aye+
This style would work best with a wig so you could glue it down. Would be an epic costume for a convention! Would love to see it with a wig so you could make the little rolling “waves” under the ship with hair like the picture.
Dude imagine if someone showed up to a costume competition like this.
Judges: Here, have all the everything's
Other competitors: *clap* she deserves it
RELEASE THE KRAKEN *hands move up to devour the ship*
I'M DYING 😂😂😂
Husband: So what did you do today?
Her: Made a ship for my hair....I'm ready to sail your high seas
Jessica January *Wife(I think...😅)
Ingeborg Granli Rachel’s husband is named Nick. She mentions him from time to time, and he has appeared in some outtakes.
😂😂😂 I am dead. This comment has killed me. 😂😂
David Love OH! ok, sorry! I've only been subscribed for a couple of weeks ,so I haven't seen or heard of him yet. But in a video of hers I watched last week she mentioned something about har wife?(maybe she was talking about a good girl friend and just called the friend her wife?) I didn't really double check and just assumed she had a wife😕
Sorry bout that😓
@@ingeborggranli9547 Welcome to the channel! 😄
See the ship
Feel the ship
*BE THE SHIP!!1!1*
HAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
Rachel: ...making it a little bit more gothic...
Me: Bertram’s going goth.
Also I have Marie Antoinette with a ship in her hair as my half sleeve tattoo on my left arm 🌊⛵⚓
When is Rachel gonna notice she has an Art Channel! Welcome to the community.

Agreed
I have no other way of wording this compliment but ....omg you're the Jenna Marbles of the Vintage/ Retro Aesthetic
I agree lol it's the best. "Ooooh who is SHEEEE" who you fightin 😏😏😂😂
There's a children's book about this hairstyle, "The Lady With the Ship on Her Head," by Deborah Nurse Lattimer. It was a Reading Rainbow book and the illustrations are fabulous.
Wait really?
When my great grandpa fled germany he basically robbes his own museaum and had shit from it just casually around until the day he died including: 6 literally priceless paintings now hidden technically lost, 5 antique rare slide tables 1 broke beyond recovery, 3 jade buddahs from the museaum, 3 ornate antique vases, and other hidden treasures
Now
He was also obsessed with the sea
He had model ships and lighthouses everywhere, hell he caught wind of a lighthouse being torn down and BOUGHT a support beam from it to be a support beam of the house i now live in
His favorite and mine of it all
Was a simple black white and cream boat model. I still have it and i hold it quite dear. I maintain it, and keep it in good condition. For me, of all the hidden wonders from lost priceless paintings to antique pharmaceuticals, that boat is the only thing truely valuable in this deeply haunted house.
And my great grandmother's painting. My mom took it down and hid it years back and i want it back. It was one of my favorite parts of my miserable childhood. That painting isnt anything special, but its important like the boat
This so appeals to my love of 18th Century sea-faring tales!
Have to read the bloody jack series? It's amazing, by L A Mayer
Omg... "looking for a first mate" 😂😂😂 I die. This whole video is amazing!
"BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!"
RelationSHIP material, for sure!
Can we just take a moment to realize how much creativity it takes to make that ship???
Wow! I assumed you bought the boat. The fact that you made it and it looks so good. That's amazing.
11:27 “It’s for the Greater Good”
Chorus of hooded figures: THE GREATER GOOD
I needed this reference. 😂
Shut it!
Roll up to the party “Looking for my first mate.” 😂😂😂
please please PLEASE create a whole gown around this. it's brilliant
Was anyone else shook when the curls came out so good??
Nope, cause curling irons are good for making curls. It's what they do. I realize some people have straight or thin hair that won't maintain a curl, but I have hair similar to hers that can hold a heat-styled spiral curl for days (unless it's very humid, in which case it turns into a frizzy nest).
@@kstreet alrighty then
Your face when you realised how good the final product was 😂
This was so amazing! ❤️
Also... need a pirate captain hat for Frodo. So heckin' cute, he is. My pup watches the videos to see her buddy.
"Roll up to the party like...
I am looking for a first mate!"
I died 😂😂😂
“Baby got back!” YALL I LOST IT 😂
Remember to watch the ads all the way to the end folks! This video was _so_ awesome, thank you! I'd dare to say you look, ship shape!!
You're the sweetest 😭
I block ads on most sites so thank you for the reminder!
I also always watch all the ads on Rachels videos being like "Get my girl some moneyyyyyy guys!" 😁
Okay but I love everything about this, thank you for being the best Rachel
You could pair hairdo with a cowboy outfit and call it a.... "ten galleon hat!"
Aye lass! You did a fine job! Reminds me of of my days on the sea. The winds were cold but the sea...ah the sea...she was even colder.
The amount of creativity and problem solving that goes into this always leaves me astonished. You always make it work out and it looks great!!!!
The ship should be called "The Pirate's Companion"... you know, in honor of the old channel name.
👏👏👏👏
Jolly well played
Oh please do a Marie Antoinette pirate crossover cosplay video 😂
You’re so incredibly artistically inclined and your knack for creative detail is so keen. I wish I could create with as much style and patience as you do!!
Clicked so fast. I know you've shared that you're in a rut lately, but seriously your content is amazing and so different from anything else. Keep going!
You always look beautiful, but you look especially gorgeous when assembling the ship hair! Your make up, skin, hair, the dress, the lighting, it just looks perfect!
The ship came out looking cool and I love how it looks with the roses, so gothy.
I feel hella inspired to make a model of my ship and wear it to the next navy ball lol
saw a vintage girl on college yesterday and I thought "hope she watches Rachel channel, cause she would love it" *edit: oh how I LOVE the background music
I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo of a woman with this hairstyle!
That would be AMAZING!
@@snowyskylar8821 no u.
Get a tattoo of Rachel with this hair style. 😍🙂
@@snowyskylar8821 Its a good thing women aren't doing it for you then hey?
@@snowyskylar8821 that's your opinion. gotta say, it's not a good one, but I doubt I can change it.
"You looking for a first mate" 😂😂😂
This! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I think the Evie needs to have a featured spot on the mantle
😱 F*CK! I'm in awe! The craftsmanship, the dedication, the creativity! Dude this has to be my favourite casual look from you 😂
the maiden voyage of the good ship evie!
I came for the thumbnail, I stayed for the memes.
Nice work Rachel!
☠️💐SUPER AESTHETIC💐☠️
You should call it Lady Masky's Vengance
You should ride pirates of the Caribbean like this 😂
The absolute highlight of my weekend! The Queen has arisen! (From crouching on the floor to get through a doorway, but still...)
This was amazing Rachel!! You're so crafty, I get blown away a little more everytime. I'd love to see a full 18th-Century makeover if that can give you an idea for a video!
I listened four times and I still think Rachel is saying that the figurine is from the Bipolar Express...
HOLY MOLY GIRL. I CAN'T EVEN. You.are.amazing. This is the most adventurous and daring RUclips video I've ever seen, and I'm here for it. Marie Antoinette would be so proud. Please don't ever stop making content.
This was so much fun to watch!!!!! You have so much patience to create such intricate pieces and hand paint them!!! I love Marie Antoinette fashion, Rococo era, 20s flapper, Edwardian, Georgian, and of course Regency aka Jane Austen style. I also really like medieval renaissance type clothes as well with flowing bell cascading sleeves ala Arwen style. I wonder if you had any intrest doing like an accessories through the eras that women would have worn or carried. Like, cameos, lockets, ribbons, jewelry and other accessories. That could be fun to see.
*enters the gala*
Ahoy, lads! Ye cap'n Rachel be in port, lookin' for a crew to care for me shipp! Shiver me timbers!
This was so fun Rachel! I love it. It would be really cool to see a DIY crafting series on fashion trends throughout different eras!
I love it! 😂 I’m totally on board for those ship puns.
I love your use of Strong Hands lol!!! I love that freaking movie!!!! Now to finish the video!
You're always like "hopefully this works" in a lowkey derogatory way, like you're apologizing for never planning things ahead of time BUT- the fact that you can look at something like a dress, or a model ship, or a hairstyle, and just come up with a basic way to recreate it your way with the materials you have, and then proceed to improvise as need be as you go along, is super impressive all by itself. That mental process is a skill that takes time to develop and not everyone has. I know several people who just break down into tears if there's not step by step intructions, or if they struggle with one of those steps as they go along. You have mental ingenuity and a can do attitude that you should be really proud of! You make super cool things just because you want to! That is such an impressive thing to be able to do! What I'm saying is, there is value in never having a fully organized plan too. :)
Rachel, I am LOVING the vintage handcrafting videos!
Maybe you will show us some of the cosplay costumes you're working on, and more of your alterations! Shopping trip videos and why you choose certain things? It doesn't have to be vintage-- we are on this journey with YOU! 😊👯♀️💛🌼
Okay I'm literally obsessed with Marie Antoinette so I got far too excited when I saw this notification 😛😛
Another great video! A little tip: tea is great for whethering and ageing fabric and paper
Oh damn, you need to do a 2.0 version where the kraken is sinking the ship😂
Yes! This turned out fantastic and you had me in stitches throughout the entire video! You’re a pirate queen! 🙌🏻
Oh my god! I love this. My sailor& historian soul was singing when this went up! Sooo much fun! Might try this myself but with John Paul Jones' ship.
Awesome job with the private ship! That definitely was unexpected. Love it!
I can’t get enough of this video. You make me feel so inspired and excited to make ANYTHING. Very super good work, Rachel. Thank you.
C'EST MANIFIQUE! I know this video is 2 years old, but what woman wouldn't want to go to a fancy dinner party fashionably late with THIS?!! I know I would!
Keep doing you!
Roll up to a party like.... “ lookin for a first mate?” 😂 Ya crack me up! The look was amazing ... especially your ship artistry!
THIS VIDEO IS THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE! Thank you for blessing us with this GEM 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
It turned out amazing! Wow! I love seeing these transformation videos.
