Hi HELLOOO for all of you wondering (and I get this question a lot hehe), what breed Frodo is! We got a DNA test done and he is mostly Australian Cattledog, with some Chow Chow & Pekingese, and then 50% "other" 😂😂
We need Frodo Friday. You can make him more outfits, treats, take him to the park, have him pick your outfits and your makeup, make him a bed, chew toys..... That should get you through the first few months.
I'm not going to lie, as a rule, I kind hate people that dress their animal family members. I'm a grumpy old shit like that but he just looked so stinking cute! I mean he's always cute but this was like cute on steroids. He even rocked the hat even though it made him look clinically depressed and on the verge of either a nervous breakdown or taking up the writing of extremely angsty poetry. Basically, please do this hundred more times. Frodo is a cosplayer now.
I only dress my one dog, but he's a Chihuahua and it's really cold here in the winter, so we have some coats for him, so he's not cold in the winter. Also, when I lived in Arizona, all of our dogs had boots so they wouldn't burn their paws when it's 120 in July.

I vote for more Frodo outfits! All the outfits! And give him another treat. He is a good boy. I am also lucky enough to have a dog who will wear anything in exchange for treats. I cannot express the amount of joy it has brought to my life to see her as a librarian, or a yuppie, or the Madonna.
Never be ashamed of developing sewing skillz! Altering existing stuff is a great way to learn, it's usually how I teach people how to sew anyway because I think you can get more complex/satisfying results than starting from scratch (I'm not sure I would attempt to make a dog outfit from scratch and I am an experienced sewist!) If you're interested in garment sewing, have you checked out Colette patterns? They have great vintage inspired styles and are great at teaching skills as you go through projects. Those patterns and the Colette sewing books are where a lot of my skills come from. Besides, in my experience the main thing that makes someone an "expert seamstress" is not fewer mistakes and less winging it, just developing skills at hiding that you did! I think this is absolutely great! Also, I'm pretty sure contorting your body rather than moving when working on a project is the mark of a good maker of things :D
My mom's altered my school pants cause APPERNELY MCCARTHY LIKES TO MAKE PANTS TO FIT A FUCKING STICK BUG. My thighs never fit the pants so we had to alter waist lines and sew shit..... it was a fun time :D

My "son" is 14. He gets hand sewn sweaters every winter. I don't buy him dog clothes cause he's a cat and they don't fit his long slinky body. Also he tends to groom his clothes so it needs to be special fabric that doesn't catch on his tongue.
I learned how to sew in high school from a clothing and design class at my high school. I LOVE how you throw yourself into learning. You aren't afraid to dive and mess up. That is a powerful strength for learning anything. Something that might help you on your learning journy since it helped me. Get a whole bunch of easy paterns when they go on sale for buck or two a patern and look at the patern pieces and instructions. It helped me get a grasp on the internal logic of garment construction. Also I made the mistake of assuming the patern size was the same as my dress size. They aren't. Measure to get your size if they are for garmets you want to wear.

This video brought me so much joy! Frodo looks almost exactly like my dog Archer, except Archer had a long floofy tail. Sadly, I had to put him to sleep last year ( he was old and very sick), but this reminded me of how much he hated his Halloween costumes! I love watching your videos, and seeing Frodo brings back so many great memories of my dog.
