The second arcade stadium has a higher CERO age rating in Japan (ironically it is lower in Europe). They would not be allowed to include games with a higher age rating as a DLC for the first Stadium. I think that’s why they went with a separate collection.
@qtsssim Specifically because of the depiction of violence found in the three Vampire games, which is a bit more graphic than the older games. Here’s what the originally description says: ※レーティング「C(暴力)」の表記は「CA2S:ヴァンパイア - The Night Warriors -」「CA2S:ヴァンパイアハンター - DARKSTALKERS' REVENGE -」「CA2S:ヴァンパイアセイヴァー - The Lord of Vampire -」によるものです。
That's a very interesting point. I did a quick look at the ESRB's faq and they can have different ratings for DLC, but haven't checked for other rating systems. I had assumed that they ran some numbers and thought they could sell it for more with them split up.
@@bigedwerd they made the games a lot more expensive I think they figured hey we’re on to something here let’s charge more that’s why they made a new one id understand if the more expensive games had more features like online vs but yeaaaash
@@johndewberryiii9925 the lack of online vs is such a huge letdown, but there's always fightcade. It's wild that there's the same games in another collection with online but I'm not buying them again for that.
I just love Magic Sword. There's something magical and simple about this action game. I love the early 90s fantasy vibe that modern games don't have anymore. I loved it.
Good to know The Gunsmoke port is still ball-bustingly hard. I remember finishing it on the NES when I was young before I ever tried it in the arcade. Then our local Shakey’s Pizza got the cab, and boy was that an unpleasant surprise. I didn’t finish the fucker till I was in university and played it on MAME. Also thanks for doing the dirty work for the community and doing these lag tests, SJ. I know they’re a pain in the ass and really time consuming, so seriously, thanks for doing the shit work for all of us.
I'm glad I'm not off base or the only one that found arcade Gunsmoke so insanely hard and frustrating to play. I imagine if it was my first experience with it back then, I would've sucked but had nostalgia for the idea of it. But after playing it on NES it's hard to go back to something more bland yet so punishing. I've kind of set expectations with the lag tests and know it's important to a lot of folks, so I always make sure to do it. I wish I could have done more with various controllers here since there's an issue, but it just becomes too much. I'm glad I at least found that issue and maybe it'l being some attention so they'll look into it.
@@ShmupJunkie - DUDE! Gun smoke is horrifyingly hard. About a year ago I picked up the Capcom collection for the PS2 that has the arcade version on it and it took me over an hour of consistently playing and dying to just get past the first few screens and to pick up the horse (if I recall). It’s punishingly hard. Lol. I just downloaded this collection this week and I’m curious to see if I can get to the first boss again. It’s wicked!!! 😂
Edit: around August 19th, 2022, this collection works flawlessly without the preview video rendering issue I mentioned. Likely a Proton update did the trick FYI for Steam Deck owners, the collection works on the Steam Deck day one using Proton Experimental. One minor issue that is ongoing is that the preview videos when selecting the game is bugged at the moment, but it will likely get fixed in the near future. Thank you for this thorough review! So far, haven't had the time to explore all the games but I somehow enjoy Block Block more than I anticipated.
Fun personal fact... at 10 years old - in my local arcade everyone was kaning street fighter 2... whereas I absolutely was besotted by 3 wonders! - so much so I was bullied over it with taunts from older lads shouting "midnight!!" In a stupid voice whilst gobbling on me... harsh memories but I adored the game.
Ha! I not once saw that cabinet around as a kid, maybe it just wasn't as popular in the US who knows. Street Fighter 2 out here wasn't even an arcade phenomenon. It was in every liquor store, 7-11, laundromat and food parlor. It was hard to walk into a place and not see one because they made so much money. It took me about 10 years before I stopped looking to the corner after walking into a 7-11 to see where the machine was lol. Kind of miss that. But I would have liked three wonders back then had I seen it. A beautiful looking platformer and a shooter. I complain now because it's short playing at home, but in arcades I wouldn't have likely finished both with the few quarters I had to spend.
One of my biggest gripes along with not having any online play. I think they originally intended to release more games as part of the first, but something along the line must have changed for them financially to decide and make it a separate release.
Yeah, it's pretty much my only gripe too. It's like having to walk down the street to get to a different arcade to play the game you want :) If they ever release a 3rd edition, they could fix all this by unlocking all previous games if you own them in the 3rd collection (kinda like how the new Hitman games do it)
Hot damn, this is the exact kind of review I've been looking for for this collection! Thanks for the in-depth info - I really wish there wasn't so much overlap with other Capcom collections in this one, most of the big hits are simply superior in those other versions, especially the fighting games.
Happy to do it. My original collection review did so well I definitely wanted to follow up with another for this one too. I'll admit the original collection is still my favorite as it just has more of my old favorites as well as a lot more cool shmups.
Fantastic review - I really enjoy the passion and level of detail. One thing I really appreciate about this collection that you didn’t mention was how each game has multiple leaderboards to chase. For example 1cc score, game complete time, and special challenges that bump the difficulty. This adds incentive to “get good” to climb the ladder.
You’re right on that. Since they couldn’t include an online play component they did go out of their way to create a ton of challenges and other ways for people to compete. I kind of sped through a lot of the features and options because I covered them already in the first Stadium review and it’s nearly identical here. But you’re right that’s a really good feature that few others collections ever have.
PSA for those who are planning to tackle Eco Fighters: Be careful with your right analog stick if you want to use the laser sword as your main shot type.
Oh yes! Good call and maybe I should've mentioned that. That's a good way to make your old Joycon start drifting. Mine already does I had to use the Pro Controller.
So glad you got to enjoy and review this one with your boy 👏🏻 Currently doing a lot of gaming with my little guy as well so here's hoping to play some of the classics at some point later down the road. Another awesome review 👏🏻 There's definitely a few I'd like to check out and I'm going to download the collection later tonight 😉
At least you don't have to worry about your little one kicking your ass in all the fighting games. Haha, well at least not yet. Train him well like I did, and there will come a day where exactly that will happen. And you will welcome it and be proud. 😅
Excellent video 👍thank you for covering the Fighters aswell (my number 1 genre). Your son pulled off some cool combos and cross ups on Alpha 3 😁 and he mains Sakura, respect 👌
Thanks! Yeah he is a pretty serious fighting game player and competes in tournaments. So I'm no match for him. I tried to cover the fighters in a way that makes sense for me without pretending to be some expert in them (as I'm not). It was lucky I had him visiting that week.
@@ShmupJunkie my only gripe with these recent collections is no AVP and no Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, I've given up on a marvel collection a long time ago😩 Until the legal stuff is sorted, looks like I'll have to keep using my pandora stick (I know, emulation lol), it's better than nothing.
Eco Fighters is sooo good‼️ I’ve been playing ALOT of old Arcade Games on my Moded OG Xbox that has MAME ‼️ I LOVE playing MAME so much that I purchased a Arcade Stick just to play the Shmup’s & Fighting & Beat’em Up Games I can‼️ Just discovered your channel & the name alone deserves a Sub😊
Welcome! If you’ve come for arcade games you’ve come to the right place. I have some really good ones that may help you discover more you’ve not heard of or played.
I just want to say I F××king LOVE this channel I was years back looking for shmup/shooter channels and apart from Stg weekly that eventually came along I needed more and shmup junkie.......Honestly this is my number 1 channel I really appreciate the effort really you are the man ! Looking forward to anything you do and even have notifications on which I never do for channels. Thank you
Thank you I really appreciate your kind feedback. I love making these videos and hearing how much different people are enjoying my work. The bigger I can grow this channel the more I can help spread the love of STGs and arcade games in general. Couldn't do it without all of you supporting my hard work.
Again really appreciate it and as always will this follow this channel religiously haha, you rock man...any way back to my core grafx mini and bash some spriggan. Look forward to the next video :)
31:19 just as an FYI Street Fighter II came out in 1991, not 1987 which was the first games release year. I played it back then and was shocked years later that it got a sequel that proceeded to blow me away.
Thanks for the tip, I honestly get them confused a lot. That time is becoming a blur as I get older haha. So I was bout 14yrs old then when it released, in middle school. That sounds about right. I never got on with the first game. Not when there was always an MK cabinet right next to it and a much better game. But when 2 came out it's like we all forgot about everything else. The level of obsession in general was nuts. People just went apeshit over that game. It's hard to describe how good it was compared to any fighter we played before unless you were there. Which you were so you know.
@@ShmupJunkie I remember the day the SF2 cab was wheeled into the arcade I was in. Went from "Holy crap, they made a sequel to Street Fighter?" to "There's six buttons? Never seen that many on a machine before!" to "HOLY CRAP YOU CAN PICK 8 DIFFERENT CHARACTERS? AND THAT GUY IS A GREEN MONSTER?!" Yeah, it hit big :)

Vampire Saviour is an astounding game - they did so much in that series that was new and I'd love to see a new one, I still play it on the Saturn. Fun to see the proud dad moment on SFZ2. It's a real shame Capcom don't do rollback online play for this - and I'd love to be able to download superplays. After watching this I had to load up and play eco-fighters, jeez is that last stage hard.
I like the idea of emulators looking like arcade stadiums, like you can customize them as you want, and its really nice to collecting roms like this, even when we hasnt had any real arcade cabinets with any popular franchise like Metal Slug in our country...
Excellent work as always! There’s not much in this collection for me personally, I already have the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection and Dark Stalkers 3 in my collection, although I might give Eco Fighters a try. Would love to see you review all NeoGeo shmups, or maybe all the ACA shmups on Switch, or how about all of Cave’s shmups?! Keep up the good work dude!
Eco Fighters is definitely worth it. Just make sure to map the arm to an analog stick, and don't do it using a Joycon unless you want to kill your controller early and end up with drift. I used a pro controller for mine. I'll be doing Neo Geo at some point, you can count on that. I am not a huge Cave expert, that's more Mark's area at Electric Underground, but I did do a really cool collab video with him long ago for Top 5 Hardest shooters on the Xbox360. And of course they were all Cave, so it was kind of a Cave special lol. Someday it will happen, but I've got a while before I get there. Still have Saturn and PSX to do too.
Sorry to hear about Gun.Smoke, I was also looking forward to that one, although I haven’t bought the game yet. But the primary draw for me from the beginning was Black Tiger, which I remember from my childhood where I played it at a skating rink. Never played since, glad to hear it still holds up.
It definitely does. Gunsmoke is just a beast. Great concept and well made but just too hard for me at least. I need to see how the lower difficulty settings change the gameplay.
Killer detailed review of the package! I have the entire first one on Xbox and quite enjoy it. I'm glad to see they're still putting in the effort with the sequel. Will likely grab this one soon too.
Awesome video and review!! There are so many games here I have missed out: Black Tiger (as a GnG fan I can´t wait to play this one), Last Duel, Eco Fighters and Midnight Wanderers. I am glad to see GunSmoke included here although the arcade og is a very difficult game, thus I prefer the NES port LOL. I am a casual player too when it comes to fighting games so it's nice to see several great games included...and beat em ups that I enjoy til this day.
Thanks my friend. Yes, please check out Black Tiger and enjoy. It's very different from GnG, very much more arcade like, but it's a lot of fun. And I'll bet you have fun with Midnight Wanderers too, it's like a prototypical console platformer and looks stunning. I'm always glad to highlight some unexpected games for people to check out.
And I thought I was crazy when some of my other controllers (even wired) seemed a bit off compared to the joycons with input latency. I really hope they look into fixing this. Thanks again good sir, for your in depth reviews!
Amazing review, , you covered these games so well, and went above and beyond with the presentation, I am hyped to pick this up , I loved the first collection and this one looks great too. Thank you for all you do, I really had a good time watching this.
You're welcome and really glad you enjoyed it. I always prefer to focus on the games and pick out the ones that stood out for me. Even if I can't cover them all I can cover my favorites and put something entertaining together.
Just finished watching (through a few distractions during cooking) and I’m in complete agreement with your overall verdict. I totally agree that the first collection was, overall, the better of the two but there no denying the quality of titles on show on this second stadium!! I’ve always been a huge fighting game fan but loved playing these single player, as at home with a friend that sucked at Street Fighter, was the only way to play…..(kinda want to take on your son as he looks pretty decent and had a hell of a finish 🤣🤣) The shmups however are limited in this collection but of a good quality (except for Gunsmoke which is stupid hard) especially Eco fighters, which I played lots on emulation and Sidearms which I have on my Pc Engine GT and still love to this day!! I’m a massive fan of King of Dragons and Magic Sword and I’m totally with you on the reviews you gave, I played these so much and are a lot of fun to speed run, especially Magic Sword as you can skip floors to complete quicker. Either way I’m glad we have the same level of nostalgia for these games because they shaped my childhood and I love every minute I relive that!! Amazing video and I can’t recommend this enough to everyone!!
Really glad you enjoyed it again and it helped make your cooking a bit more bearable too haha. Honestly, you don't want to play my son. I didn't mention it in the video but he plays in tournaments and often gets toward the later brackets. Especially in Blazblu and Smash Bros, but he plays plenty of Street Fighter and Dragonball Fighterz as well. He will absolutely destroy me in most of them unless it's something I've played a ton like Tekken 2 or Tag. He's a beast on games in general. I remember him playing Smash against 3 other good players all ganging up on him, and he just single handedly handed them all their ass lol. I was never that good at any fighting games. I'm with you on King of Dragons. At first it seemed overly simple and I wasn't impressed, the moveset is so limited. But once I stopped trying to play it like a beat em up and enjoyed the simplicity and short levels, plus the cool art, I liked it a lot more. I'm not a fan of slow paced beat em ups so KoD was more up my alley.
@@ShmupJunkie haha, hell yeah. It’s a long slog cooking a traditional English roast dinner (have you every tried one?) so yeah, it definitely helped….and it’s still cooking 🤣🤣 gulp, maybe a casual match is in order with your son then then 🤣🤣 although I am very much kick ass at the older beat em ups on this collection 😅 Thanks again though bro, it’s such a pleasure when your videos drop as the nostalgia is so real and even in this day and age, we can still appreciate these modern ports and reminisce of the good old days….I’m so grateful of the age we grew up in 🙌🙌
@@arronetchells4363 Id have loved to try a traditional roast dinner back when I could have one 😅. Some health issues keep me on a stricter diet these days and I miss a lot of stuff I used to enjoy. That doesn’t mean I can’t have a bite though. I’d rather get a tease or preview than nothing at all haha. Makes you savor that bite that much more.
@@ShmupJunkie Well they do say the first bite is with the eyes…and I must say the health connotations of a roast dinner don’t bode well🤣🤣 So it’s probably best I don’t send a pic as the roast potatoes alone will give anyone a heart attack on sight 😅
Another great video Junkie! The second collection definitely has some games that make this collection an easy grab for individual games. Eco Fighters, Saturday Slam Masters, the Mega Man titles, and Three Wonders are all ones I really wanna play. I also very much appreciated that you did actually take a look at the fighting games in the collection. I know you say that you find it hard to get to grips with them but many people in the community are always willing to help others learn. It's why I would recommend most people who wish to play any of the fighters to get the recent Capcom Fighting Collection, as it has basically all of the games in this collection, but with training modes, online play with rollback, mappable supers to single buttons, and a load of extras. If you still aren't interested in them like that, then I'll respect it. I do kinda feel the same way with shmups honestly lol (I watch you and other RUclipsrs more than I have played actual shmups) but never be afraid to try and learn! It's how I even got into shmups thanks to you!
I totally agree. And it's not that I don't get on with Fighters, I'm really good at certain ones like Tekken 2 and Tag that I've played A LOT back in the day. I think it's more that I only truly have fun with them socially. Like playing against friends. So back in the day I loved playing them and did a lot because that's all we did. Always in a group, always playing in arcades or over each other's houses etc. It was fun. But whenever I had to play them on my own against CPU etc. they don't keep me entertained the same way. And I rarely have anyone around to play versus. So it was cool while my boy was over for a week. Though he's 20 now so obviously not here often.
@@ShmupJunkie Yeah I get you. That's why having online is cool for many games as then you can play them with your son, or anyone else you may want to! Of course if you don't like playing online and usually prefer having someone next to you to play against, then I totally respect that. I'm just such a fighting game nut that I try to convert anyone and everyone into regular players
As ever, Shmup Junkie you delivered a fantastic overview of the collection. I'm holding off buying this for just a little longer as I have way too much in my backlog - Pocky and Rocky Reshrined is arriving in about 10 days... I wonder who recommended that 🤔 Side Arms was always a favourite for me in the arcades and it's great to see Last Duel get some time in the sun - I used to play the Atari ST version way back in the early 90s and loved it. I used to play Gunsmoke in the arcades as well because I liked the western theme, though I preferred Iron Horse because it wasn't so brutal. I should try the NES version of Gunsmoke to see how I get on.
The first arcade stadium had me scratching my head with titles appearing from the recent Beat em Up and Street Fighter Collections. Now it seems they doubled down, filling out from those collections and also…that new fighting collection (darkstalkers). I’m looking a gift horse in the mouth, however, as I took full advantage of only needing to pay for Eco Fighters and Sidearms.
Excellent video as usual junkie!, yesterday I downloaded the Capcom Stadium Collection 2 on my XBOX Series S and I really enjoyed Son Son even though is an older game it was fun. I see you are reviewing the Switch version, not sure if the switch has the same online features as the Xbox one but it has some cool online mechanics, special challenges and online ranking system for each game that makes it kind of addictive which was totally unexpected for me. I agree the first collection has some of the best shooters and the second one is more oriented for the fighting games, maybe we will get a third collection and I suspect it would be more oriented towards CPS3 and some other missing classics like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or The Punisher but somehow I suspect there's license issues with those games.
Yeah, it does have all those features and it's a really aspect to the collection. Maybe not as good as having online play, but it's got everything else. I went into more detail on the features in my first Stadium review, so I kind of blew through it here and didn't want to rehash it again. Since it's pretty much the same. But it's cool having the leaderboards and challenges. The Switch has them all too.
Really cool that you got to capture a lot of gameplay with your son, arcade games are pretty much always more fun co-op. And here I was thinking I was going to get out of this one without damage to my backlog but no, Last Duel is a must play for me. I love shumps that let you speed things up and the ground segments look like a lot of fun.
To be fair, you can pretty much and need to go full speed in Last Duel on anything past the initial stage, so it's not nearly the critical gameplay component it is in Gallop (which I know you love). Slowing down is rarely beneficial. But it's just an interesting shooter overall. I was intrigued when wltr3565 played through it first and enjoyed it. And I thought it was worth a play too. Not spectacular but a nice surprise given I'd never heard of it before.
Gun.smoke arcade has a great nostalgic value for me. I got so good at it i could reach level 6 on one life, LOL!!! I could beat Black Tiger and Sidearms on one credit. Tiger Road, Last Duel and King Of Dragons were also faves of mine back in old arcade days. I love this reviews you do, fella. Your passion just leaps from the screen. Keep em coming!!
Man, it's hard to imagine anyone going past stage 3 or 4 on a credit in Gunsmoke. Good god is that game a beast. More power to you. The others all feel reasonable by comparison. I really wanted to enjoy it but it was too brutal for me. I stick to my easier NES port lol. Really glad you enjoyed it as I do have fun making little segments like that.
Awesome video! I was actually on the fence for these games, the frame of lag seems to be around 4-5 for most games, which is not awful but could be better IMO. I think I'm gonna get some of these titles like Eco Fighters which I played a long time ago on emulator and arcade but for other games like King of Dragons or Knights of the Round I'll play them on the Capcom Belt Action compilation that I already have instead. That's pretty cool that your son likes to play games, I hope mine will like games as he grow up.
Will watch later, I have to finish Rambo3 now :D Tbh having all capcom compilations from before, I couldn't find a single game I am interested in. And even if I would buy 1 or 2, having them separately is the worst idea capcom could have came up. On the other hand if this was a physical collection...... I know myself :D
Thanks man! And yeah, I know most of these games many likely have already. For me it was Eco Fighters. I needed it and wanted to own it some way and now I finally do. Enjoy it when you can and thanks, nothing takes precedence over Rambo haha.
I’m almost 41 and grew up in Ontario Canada. I say that because I feel like these collections were made specifically for me lol There’s something about the visuals, sounds and overall vibe that resonates deeply and causes serious nostalgia for me. I love it. I enjoy this second collection more but I can’t say why exactly. Really excellent videos man I appreciate all the breakdowns and details.
I really like Magic Sword but it feels at least 10 levels too long. Maybe 30 or 35 floors would feel fun and not be too repetitive. Another excellent video Shmup Junkie! Thank you for your enthusiasm and passion.
It does start to drag I know, it's a long game! For arcade anyway. I figure few ever made it that far without dumping a lot of quarters. How many realistically even saw past the first 10 floor or so haha.
Magic Sword is meant to be completed in about 15-20 stages depending on which secrets / shortcuts you find. It shares a similar design philosophy to games like Yōkai Dōchūki and The Tower of Druaga, i.e. if you play it "conventionally" you are not meant to reach the end (without feeding the arcade a lot of credits) but players are/were expected to share their findings and find an optimal route together. It’s a pretty fun game to speedrun for that reason.
@@chazmaru9583 You’re right on. Finding alternate doorways and quicker routes up the tower is a big part of it. Totally failed to mention that in my review. Of course in arcades I wasn’t ever good enough at it to find most of it. Not until emulating at home where I could explore floors and find routes. Loses some of the magic that way I know. But it wasn’t gonna happen as a kid with limited quarters 😅
@@chazmaru9583 Very cool. I always thought it was a linear game and wasn't aware there were any shortcuts (other than just starting on a later level) and thought the secrets consisted of some extra items that help with your side characters. I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
In a strange departure from the norm, I prefer the SNES version of Magic Sword. It's re-balanced and limits the number of credits, and puts out a nice little challenge, although it loses co-op mode.
I d say Gunsmoke is a hidden gem on this one! Fun fact, Gunsmoke has an OBSCURE and little known sequel called Red Dead Revolver by this little known English game studio, Rockstar I think they are called ;-) Also wtf is going on with the arcade stick lag?! That s crazy.
Are you really good at the arcade Gunsmoke? The difficulty just felt insane on the collection. Not sure if it’s just turned up here or it’s actually that nuts. I imagine even someone trying to cheat through it with save states still wouldn’t be able to get far past stage 3 or 4 haha. It’s super cool but way too much for me. I’m happy with the NES port.
@@ShmupJunkie I m ok at the arcade version, no 1cc yet (maybe soon though). Here s a great run of the game from slam 2 ruclips.net/video/c7zBbtmPZBk/видео.html
Good video, Junkie! I assume we'll see this on PC and PS4, so if might be worth waiting on those releases before diving in. I went all in on the original release on Switch, and the latency makes it more fun for casual play than a serious approach. I see you didn't mention Led Storm. Don't sleep on that game. A local restaurant in my hometown had that for a little while when I was a kid, and I had a ton of fun with it. It's an overhead racing game with a jump mechanic like Last Duel, but no shooting. But you collect fuel as you go along, and I think it's overall underrated. Definitely an early combat racing experience, but good stuff.
Thanks man. It's already out on PS4 as well far as I know, or at least PS5. Some have been playing it that way already. I'll definitely take your advice on LED Storm, as there's a few games on here I still wanted to play but just didn't have enough time to get to making the video. But now that it's over I can check it out casually and not be on a time crunch. At least for today on a day off before it's back to the grind haha.
Man this review is spot. That explains why I was freaking frustrated when I played Stryder on the Genesis. It was identical to the arcade but not exactly. Especially, the sound quality as well. The arcade was 32 bit. That explains why I felt the Genesis version was freaking hard! I was so frustrated by the controls. I thought it was just me but when he explained how the arcade controls were smoother than I was shocked. Also, didn’t know there were missing animations as well.
Glad you enjoyed the review! To be fair, the home version was an incredibly good port for the time especially given the limitations of the hardware. Most who played it casually would barely tell the difference. But for someone who played the arcade constantly and could sometimes clear it on a credit or close, you’ll always notice all the details. I still really enjoyed the Genesis port too. It just didn’t quite scratch that itch since I was accustomed to playing it in the arcade.
@@ShmupJunkieI agree but I do see that you are a huge fan of shooters like I am. But I think you should’ve reviewed beat em ups like you missed Dynasty Wars and that was really fun in the arcades. It’s like Dynasty Warriors King Arthur style but even better. I’m surprised it’s been 3 years and Capcom hasn’t released Arcade 3 yet. We’re missing X-men, X-Men Vs Street Fighter, Marvel Superheroes, Marvel Vs Streetfighter, Capcom Vs SNK or SNK VS SF etc. what about Final Fight 2?
100% agree about the brutality of Gunsmoke. Obviously designed as an arcade quarter eater! Even on my emulator abusing save states and unlimited credits I’ve been stuck on the ninja boss for years! Somehow you have to get to him with the horse! Lol
After making the video I learned that the rom used here was also different from what many have been playing. Some of the stages were mixed around and the much harder teepee stage was placed very early in the game. It also seemed the default difficulty was set quite high. So not only is it a brutal game to begin with but I may have been playing an unreasonably hard version lol. Figures. I do like the game it’s self it’s super cool. It was just so tough bordering on absurd.
Gunsmoke is very hard, but there is a way to make things a bit more fair. There is actually more movement for the main character then the default setup. If you go to controller settings, you can add two more shot types to ZR and ZL. These are very useful for boss fights as you don't have to stand right in front of them. Now you can shoot forward but slightly to the right or slightly to the left.
Nice!! Was looking forward to this! So far I've just got the shmups you enjoyed the least LOL (Gun.Smoke and Savage Bees). I'll add Eco Fighters soon though (^.^)
I didn't even get to playing Savage Bees yet on this one... just ran out of time really. But I will give it a go. Eco Fighters was the one I was really waiting to play on this collection so it was the first I played.
You're welcome. And hope you find a few games in here worth checking out that I focused on. I couldn't hit them all but tried to cover the ones that interested me most.
They are still missing "The Punisher", "Alien vs. Predator", "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs". Its a crime in my opinion and all because some greedy corn hole executives refuse to stop being duche bags. Thank you for this video, you are appreciated El Adicto.
Yeah, who knows what licensing and red tape issues exist to ever make that a reality. There would be a lot of excitement for a collection that had all 3 of those games included.
Cadillacs depend on the author of the comics who won't ever let another release in videogame form :( Guy who made the "capcom arcade stick console" shared info on reddit if I remember correctly.
Thank you again for the awesome video. I have the beat-em-up, Stadium 1 and SF anniversary collection already on the Switch. Little bit unpleasantly surprised about the lag. Maybe I'll get this one on the PS4. Hopefully the lag is less annoying, since I only play with third party arcade sticks. There are some good games on it, that I would love to play. Getting my ass kicked with GunSmoke is one of them :-). Played Black Tiger this weekend on Mame, and it's a great game too. I do have memories of tiger road, but then on the C64. Saw the aswesome pictures of the arcade in the magazine and kept imagining the C64 was just as good 😂 .
Lol you hit the nail on the head these games should have been released as DLC packs for the first Capcom Arcade Stadium and I am quite surprised that no one else touched on this afaik
I'm a little younger than you, so for me it's King of Dragons that reminds me of playing in the arcades in Vegas while my dad was in the casino. Loved it enough to buy the SNES port when it came out.
I just bought Capcom Fighting Collection. And it came with a download code for Capcom Arcade Stadium 2nd. It was a total surprise. I had no idea what this was. It's so awesome. The switch is slowly turning into my favorite system's with all the arcade style ports from the 80s and 90s.
Since my mame days of early 2000, cps1, cps2, and cps3 were king and followed me throughout the emulation days on the psp and psvita. So, when this compilation came, I bought the best that capcom had to offer. In addition, I also bought the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, capcom fighting collection, and the street fighter compilation. Capcom is just king of the arcade back in the late 80s and mid-90s.
Even though I was more of a Konami kid myself and more into their shooters, run n guns and platformers, Capcom was definitely everywhere. So it's been great seeing their collections in easily accessible ways, especially the less common games. Now if I only we could get more similar Konami collections I'd be all over it.
@ShmupJunkie oh, yeah, Konami had tons of classics, too, especially their ip based games like the simpsons, tmnt and xmen. Tons of Konami and capcom games were part of my nes and snes collection. Nonetheless, both companies bring back good memories and were on top of the game (no pun intended) back in the 80s and 90s heyday of the arcade scene.
Thanks for the overview. Just downloaded this and the first one since they are currently free with the new PS plus system. Though I've heard of some of the games, many are a bit before my time so it's good to know which ones are worth purchasing, even though they are only £1.50 each. One thing though: SF2 wasn't released to arcades till 1991, the (rubbish) original game was a 1987 release.
@@ShmupJunkie you got a good point with the music. Nes was classic. I used to like the music for Ghost and Goblins for the C64. Don't know if anything was different on my pirated version.
Great review! I didn’t know anything about Last Duel, so I think I’ll check that out. Personally, I love Knights of the Round. Not the best game, but it was a big part of my life for a time.
Thanks a bunch for another in depth analysis, a joy to watch and listen to. I also mainly bought the original for the shm’ups so may pick up Eco Fighters and leave it at that. Personally I had my fingers crossed for Area 88 / UN Squadron in this collection as Carrier Air Wing remains my most played game on the 1st collection by a wide margin.
Excellent video mate, sorry it took so long to get to it, real bad week, Thank you mate, this video ultimately cheered me up and brought many a smirk to my face, and even a couple of chuckles. Excellent edit, information, overview, and top entertainment. I actually invested in this game on release day as last time I waited forever for a price drop, and because of all the fighters included, as well as Tiger Road, which I loved on the arcade. I totally agree with your review, very fair and excellent coverage. It's nice to see Black Tiger again, which is damn tough, but a beautiful game I mostly played on SNES but of course the arcades. I was pretty excited for Gunsmoke (appreciate the NES tip) but like you say its hard, real hard, and the controls in themselves don't help it, it would have been nice if they had updated the controls and made it more top down shooter style mechanics with left and right analogues for movement and shooting. I was disappointed that it's a separate game as I was really looking forward to modifying my arcade in the original Stadium with all these new titles. I think Capcom really missed a trick there but do like that they added the ability for gamers to buy what they want for gamers on a budget or specifically interested in certain genres. What Stadium 1 did for Shmups, Stadium 2 does for fighting games for me. Hopefully non fighters will fall in love with the amazing fighters on offer here. This is now my favourite was to play Alpha 3, Im in love and can't afford that Saturn version. The Darkstalkers games here are a great addition as well. The only thing I'd add is that if you have already invested in CAPCOM BEAT EM UP COLLECTION and CAPCOM FIGHTING GAME COLLECTION you will already own almost a third of the games. With that said though I can never have enough versions of King Of Dragons, Knights Of The Round, Darkstalkers, or Street Fighter (and yes the orignal does suck but fans have apparently fixed that now). Excellent review dude 10/10.
No worries my friend, I know how it goes. I know that when you actually have time, my work can provide some entertainment for you. I never saw or played Tiger Road in arcades back in the day and only knew it on the Turbografx. It was tough on there too, but the arcade is really a beast. I'm with you on the separate releases, kind of a bummer. I had one comment mention they have different ESRB ratings which could be the reason they couldn't combine them, but who knows. I thought it was more sales oriented. I don't own any of those other collections like many do, so for me it makes sense to grab it for the several games I will play and enjoy on there. And then I own them officially so I'm legit when I play them on the MiSTer as well. If you give me a way to support you, I will. If not, I'll just find a way to play them anyway 😅
I've adored both Capcom Arcade Stadium collections, enough so I've bought the first one twice, so I could have it on both my Switch and my PC! I will admit that I leapt at the "invincibility" DLC option on this one, specifically for games like Gun.Smoke, where I'm more interested in experiencing the legacy of the game than I am in challenging myself to finish it on anything resembling realistic terms (not that unlimited continues is particularly more realistic from an arcade perspective, but hey, I'm not giving that up!) I agree about the focus of this one seeming like it was a lot more on getting the fighters featured than anything else. I'd also say that, overall, the selection of games in this collection struck me as easier on the whole than the first one. There are a few stand-out exceptions to that, sure, but the overall challenge curve here felt much more casual-friendly than the first.
Now that's dedication! I have not once used invincibility, but believe me when I say I wouldn't have minded and will consider it if I ever have to play Gunsmoke again lol. That game is straight brutality. I don't know how anyone can 1CC it or even come close, but it's been done. Way beyond my paygrade.
Always love your videos. I agree the first collection is also my favorite. I am just happy I to be finally playing Black Tiger on the Switch. It's one of my childhood favorites. I think I am all fightered out with the fighting games and no longer play them anymore. So it's good we can buy what we want. Did you skip over the sports game or did I miss that one?
No you didn't miss it, I skipped quite a few. No way I could cover every game in that much detail without it being a 3-4hr video, so I focused on the ones I cared for most and spent time with. More like a short list of the games I found most interesting to me personally I wanted to highlight in the overall collection.
I came here to tell you thank you very much for reviewing all Sega Genesis and Sega CD shooting games that video is really a lot to me!! you kinda make that video for me!! thanks a lot bro keep up the good work for amazing content.👍👍
Lol, well I have been trying to talk about my favorite types of games not just shmups. Some of my videos like Arcade Exclusives gets into platformers etc. I definitely love all kinds of action games especially so you'll be seeing me mix it up more and more.
been looking forward to this one! bought the entire set as soon as I could, although about 90% of the time has just been me trying to raise my rank on the leaderboards trying to get the one-credit clear on Black Tiger! Capcom definitely had a thing for fantasy stuff back in those days, black tiger, magic sword, king of dragons, knights of the round, and yeah the D&D Mystara games (which WOTC *does* own the rights to now so I guess that assessment was accurate, haha.) The fighting games were cool to see, but aside from having the various viewpoints of the arcade cabinets you're better off playing those over on Street Fighter 30th Anniversary or the newer Capcom Fighting Collection (which has HSF2 anyway, but with online play!) this was definitely a great breakdown of the included games!
You've got your work cut out for you on Black Tiger, that game is tough. I'm pretty good at it by now but I can't say I ever cleared it without a continue or two at some point. Totally doable though. Kind of the same with Magic Sword. You have to memorize the best and easier routes to take and avoid the nastiest areas.
@@ShmupJunkie oh I know all about black tiger! I did it once before on the 2nd PS2 collection but I haven't been able to replicate it since! magic sword is definitely another tough one I need to give it a credit or two at some point later.
Really coowl to see where some of the OG Marvel vs Capcom support characters come from in their own titles. Here's hoping the next Arcade Stadium volume brings in the VS fighter series.
Gave in and picked up this collection yesterday, mostly for the arcade Mega man games, being a big Mega man fan, but living in Europe this is the first time they’ve been officially available over here. Good to know everything runs pretty solidly and avoided the controller issues as I picked it up for PS5.
You should be good to go on PS5. I'd be weary of using fight sticks there too as the problem may be universal, but the stock Dual Shock likely is as fast as it gets. I really enjoyed playing the Mega Man games with my boy too, even if they felt kind of simple and easy. I guess that's what Mega Man boss fights are like.
I always do appreciate some of these arcade collections, just cause I've missed out on so many of these games. There was an arcade in my local mall when I was a kid, but I was never allowed to play there, and by the time I was old enough almost all arcades in the country had closed down lol
Thanks for the great review round up! It's so weird that they released it like this. There must be a financial reason to release a second "volume" like this instead of adding on to the first game. I guess it must sell better or at least benefit from being a new release in the store. Even so, you'd think they'd at least make the two link up so you can have everything in one place :/
I agree and would think there is either a financial reason... or as one other comment mentioned, possibly an ESRB rating difference so they aren't compatible without changing it for both collections.
Great review as always. I have the first one and while there's no standout game I must have like Progear had done, collectively I think there's enough to just get the whole bundle. I am annoyed at having a separate app and I know the price will have a sale yet I want it now, tough choice to make.
If I didn't have to get it all for review, I would've ended up starting with Eco Fighters and a few other favorites. But at some point you just get the whole thing. I bet the individual games will get cheaper at some point too.
Another great vid and hearing you talk about your son was nice. Mine has always been better than me at some genres too. How was the input delay on the fighting games? Nothing egregious on any I'm guessing?
I can't say I tested most of them, but it didn't feel all that different than most of the others. Nothing egregious at all. My Joycon had an issue once I got to the later games so I couldn't keep testing all the fighters like I wanted to unfortunately.
Honestly the issue with third party controllers is up to their manufacturers and not the games, as they're developed with the official controllers in mind, and considering the amount of third party controllers around it would be a nightmare trying to adapt the games to every single one of them.
I would agree, except the issue only exists on this collection (and likely the first too). Those same controllers perform fantastic on nearly every other game I use them with and test. It's only in this collection where I suddenly see all these extra delays and inconsistencies. I can't explain what in the emulation or how the collection handles the drivers would effect it, as it's truly odd. The RAPV being only half a frame slower than a Joycon but over 2+ frames slower in games here is a head scratcher. So at least I wanted to let people know before they buy. They may run into some issues with certain controllers feeling slippery compared to the same controller in other games. I'd love to get an answer too.
Oh, I almost forgot, make a 2 Arcade Stadium videos combine together into 1 video marathon as complete version with minor updates. But yeah, you’re right about the no contest for both, the first Arcade Stadium was hands down for Shoot’Em Ups, while 2nd Arcade Stadium was hands down for Fighter (Fighter is a Fighting Genre, remember that.), it’s true that it’s a tie for both 1st & 2nd for both Platformer & Beat’Em Ups. But in my opinion honest, It Was No Contest for 1st one as it’s hands down for both Shoot’Em Ups & Beat’Em Ups.
Have you ever played Dragons Crown on PS4? Originally an older game but released again. It just may be what you’re looking for. Very fast paced and also beautiful to look at.
Thanks for the review SMJ, and no online play is bloody irritating. Me and my girlfriend don't live together, so we play online together a lot. I'm going to have to think about this one before I buy it. But your review reflects my own views on these games, the first one I ever played was Roc N' Rope at a Wendy's down the Cape. Ah the good old days, right?
I would be singing the praises of the collection from the rooftops, quirks and all, if all these great 2 player arcade games (not just the fighters) had online play. Guess they just don't see enough profit into putting in the resources to make that happen.
@@ShmupJunkie yeah, I feel the same. I grew up playing a lot of these games (always been a big street fighter, and Tekken player) but that one irritating detail really irks me. But either way, if I reviewed this it would have mirrored your take on this. Thanks again bud, like I said, I'm going to think about it
EcoFighters I only played recently for the first time. It's such a blast. I don't attempt 1cc, just playing through the unique art, premise, gameplay etc. Not that it's unfair, just worth playing regardless. The Street Fighter 1Up Arcade machine has it, and my local community center has one setup in the pool room lol. Also, worth mentioning, for lag it may be good to give a variance. 1-6 frames is worse than 6-7 frames type thing, as it's hard to get any consistency. Just a thought (and example numbers, obv depends on the framerate etc)
Yeah , I bought em all day 1 . My inner child from the the 80's/90's basically punched me in the gut and stole my credit card, and gave me the stink eye for even questioning the purchase for a moment. He still wears parachute pants and a spiked leather bracelet too.
hahaha, my inner child is perpetually giving me the stink eye with such things so I totally get it. I have to buy these for review so I am stuck either way, but even if I didn't there's a few on here I would've picked up. Especially Eco Fighters.
Thing about this collection, is I already digitally own most of the games on this collection through other Capcom collections. There is literally like 2-3 things I'm interested in/don't already own and one of them I got free with my Capcom Fighting Collection purchase. Hopefully the next one will have some more unavailable stuff
My problem with 2nd Stadium is how redundant the game selection here is. If you've been keeping up with other Capcom releases on Switch, you already have all the Darkstalkers and Street Fighter Alpha games in the Fighting Collection and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. King of Dragons and Knights of the Round are plenty fun, but also on Beat 'em Up Bundle. In addition, I don't think the new games are worth spending 4 bucks a pop on. I can only hope we get Capcom Licensing Nightmare Collection with all the Marvel, vs SNK, D&D, etc.soon. As always, I enjoyed the video! Magic Sword is one of my personal guilty pleasures.
Totally get it and can't argue with that. A lot of repetition here. There's a few games worth the price for me, especially Eco Fighters for $4. Not a lot of collections with that game and I didn't own any of them. But overall the first had a lot more I wanted to go out of my way to play again.
On Play-Asia there was a physical version and now it doesn't exist. i think it was an error. I really wished Capcom released the 2 arcade stadium collections on discs for PS4
The second arcade stadium has a higher CERO age rating in Japan (ironically it is lower in Europe). They would not be allowed to include games with a higher age rating as a DLC for the first Stadium. I think that’s why they went with a separate collection.
Hmmm that's very interesting. I didn't even think about that! You have a good point.
@qtsssim Specifically because of the depiction of violence found in the three Vampire games, which is a bit more graphic than the older games. Here’s what the originally description says:
※レーティング「C(暴力)」の表記は「CA2S:ヴァンパイア - The Night Warriors -」「CA2S:ヴァンパイアハンター - DARKSTALKERS' REVENGE -」「CA2S:ヴァンパイアセイヴァー - The Lord of Vampire -」によるものです。
I love Capcom arcade games. Their sprite work was so beautiful.
Edit: around August 19th, 2022, this collection works flawlessly without the preview video rendering issue I mentioned. Likely a Proton update did the trick
FYI for Steam Deck owners, the collection works on the Steam Deck day one using Proton Experimental.
I never played it I just remember the Little guy that shoots arrows from marvel vs Capcom
The fact they didn’t incorporate this with the first one really is frustrating. Now we have two fake virtual arcades to visit by the same company.
One of my biggest gripes along with not having any online play. I think they originally intended to release more games as part of the first, but something along the line must have changed for them financially to decide and make it a separate release.
They really messed it up. The front end code is different enough that the first one works fine on Steam Deck, but the second one doesn't even launch.
I aggree. Would be so cool to scroll though 80 or so arcade games. That way we could have them all ordered in one place.
Yeah, it's pretty much my only gripe too. It's like having to walk down the street to get to a different arcade to play the game you want :) If they ever release a 3rd edition, they could fix all this by unlocking all previous games if you own them in the 3rd collection (kinda like how the new Hitman games do it)
@@AntonioRodriguezSilver it works now if you change to Proton Experimental in compatibility settings.
I use the top triggers to rotate instead of trying to use the analog stick. I just couldnt contort my hands comfortably enough.
YES, I was waiting for this! Its 20:40 hours here in Europe. You’ve made my sunday evening.
Excellent video 👍thank you for covering the Fighters aswell (my number 1 genre).
Your son pulled off some cool combos and cross ups on Alpha 3 😁
and he mains Sakura, respect 👌
Thanks! Yeah he is a pretty serious fighting game player and competes in tournaments. So I'm no match for him. I tried to cover the fighters in a way that makes sense for me without pretending to be some expert in them (as I'm not). It was lucky I had him visiting that week.
@@ShmupJunkie my only gripe with these recent collections is no AVP and no Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, I've given up on a marvel collection a long time ago😩
Until the legal stuff is sorted, looks like I'll have to keep using my pandora stick (I know, emulation lol), it's better than nothing.
Scrolled the comments to see if anyone commented on Sakura, was not disappointed :)

AND THAT GUY IS A GREEN MONSTER?!"
Yeah, it hit big :)
I'm still waiting for a physical bundle launch, but it's not looking like it's gonna happen. Thanks for the analysis and lag check!
I've not heard of any plans for a physical either, not yet anyway. Hope you enjoy the video and you're welcome.

Vampire Savior and Slam Masters :OOOO Yes I am a 90s kids, Schmups, Fighters and JRPGs (classicaly ones)
Black Tiger surprisingly still holds up, gorgeous colors and art.
Awesome review as always including the lag tests! I think im gonna pick up black tiger :)
While I love shmups the most, this collection does have some real bangers. Absolutely love Black Tiger and Magic Sword. Both are still so fun to play.
SHUT THE F#CK UP WITH YOUR "BANGER" SHIT!
And I thought I was crazy when some of my other controllers (even wired) seemed a bit off compared to the joycons with input latency. I really hope they look into fixing this. Thanks again good sir, for your in depth reviews!
You’re welcome. It seems to be hit and miss on various controllers though my Retrobit BT did well. Wired sticks not so much at least mine.
I’ve always been a huge fighting game fan but loved playing these single player, as at home with a friend that sucked at Street Fighter, was the only way to play…..(kinda want to take on your son as he looks pretty decent and had a hell of a finish 🤣🤣)
The shmups however are limited in this collection but of a good quality (except for Gunsmoke which is stupid hard) especially Eco fighters, which I played lots on emulation and Sidearms which I have on my Pc Engine GT and still love to this day!!
It’s a long slog cooking a traditional English roast dinner (have you every tried one?) so yeah, it definitely helped….and it’s still cooking 🤣🤣
gulp, maybe a casual match is in order with your son then then 🤣🤣 although I am very much kick ass at the older beat em ups on this collection 😅
Thanks again though bro, it’s such a pleasure when your videos drop as the nostalgia is so real and even in this day and age, we can still appreciate these modern ports and reminisce of the good old days….I’m so grateful of the age we grew up in 🙌🙌
@@arronetchells4363 Id have loved to try a traditional roast dinner back when I could have one 😅. Some health issues keep me on a stricter diet these days and I miss a lot of stuff I used to enjoy. That doesn’t mean I can’t have a bite though. I’d rather get a tease or preview than nothing at all haha. Makes you savor that bite that much more.
@@ShmupJunkie Well they do say the first bite is with the eyes…and I must say the health connotations of a roast dinner don’t bode well🤣🤣
So it’s probably best I don’t send a pic as the roast potatoes alone will give anyone a heart attack on sight 😅
I wonder who recommended that 🤔
Side Arms was always a favourite for me in the arcades and it's great to see Last Duel get some time in the sun - I used to play the Atari ST version way back in the early 90s and loved it.
I say that because I feel like these collections were made specifically for me lol
There’s something about the visuals, sounds and overall vibe that resonates deeply and causes serious nostalgia for me.
Another high quality video, props bud. Actually made me interested in the collection, keep it up🤞
If it helped to show a game or two you'd want to check out then it was worth the watch. You're welcome.
I was hoping this collection turned out well, thanks for giving me something to watch about it, friend!
@@ShmupJunkie Disney owns 2 of the 3 intellectual properties, there is no hope in disney releasing their infamous strangle hold.
Cadillacs depend on the author of the comics who won't ever let another release in videogame form :( Guy who made the "capcom arcade stick console" shared info on reddit if I remember correctly.
Luckily, emulation is available that makes these titles available
If they release CAS3, Dimahoo/Great Mahou Daisakusen 3 should be on it.
Great video, I'm kind of tempted by Streer Fighter tbh, I don't have an easy way to play Super Turbo on the telly
Your reviews always rule! Thanks!
Oh wow really? That’s cool I didn’t know they were doing that. Did it come with all the 32 games on this collection unlocked?
@@ShmupJunkie no just Three wonder cabinet. And the free one it comes with. But it's still pretty cool.
Been looking forward to this, I’ve watched the first review at least 3 times.
I had a lot of fun with that first review! And it did really well too. Hope you enjoy this one too and it's not quite as long as the first.
From what I understand, MAME and ROMs are the answer to the lag issues.
I saw Black Tiger and Gun.Smoke in the intro....SOLD
Oh man Gunsmoke kicked my ass so hard 🤣. I really wonder if the difficulty level was cranked to 11 by default on this collection. It was nuts.
@@ShmupJunkie you got a good point with the music. Nes was classic. I used to like the music for Ghost and Goblins for the C64. Don't know if anything was different on my pirated version.
absolutely great video, so much time invested, 2thumbs up! i hope this comes out physically as i don't buy digital games as a collector
Thanks! So far Capcom has shown zero interest or news on physical releases for these. Maybe someday but I get the feeling they’re not destined for it.
Great review! I didn’t know anything about Last Duel, so I think I’ll check that out. Personally, I love Knights of the Round. Not the best game, but it was a big part of my life for a time.
Awesome video. !!! You are the best game content creator !!!! No one comes close. !!!!!
That’s what I keep telling them but they don’t believe me! 🤣 I keed I keed. Thanks much appreciated.
@@ShmupJunkie One hundred percent mate
I've adored both Capcom Arcade Stadium collections, enough so I've bought the first one twice, so I could have it on both my Switch and my PC!
I will admit that I leapt at the "invincibility" DLC option on this one, specifically for games like Gun.Smoke, where I'm more interested in experiencing the legacy of the game than I am in challenging myself to finish it on anything resembling realistic terms (not that unlimited continues is particularly more realistic from an arcade perspective, but hey, I'm not giving that up!)
I agree about the focus of this one seeming like it was a lot more on getting the fighters featured than anything else.
You’re welcome. And you can expect to see a Saturn video someday too. That one is highly requested and for good reason.
Your reviews are so good. Maybe you can expand to Arcade Junkie, Sega Junkie, PCE junkie, etc?
Lol, well I have been trying to talk about my favorite types of games not just shmups. Some of my videos like Arcade Exclusives gets into platformers etc. I definitely love all kinds of action games especially so you'll be seeing me mix it up more and more.
been looking forward to this one! bought the entire set as soon as I could, although about 90% of the time has just been me trying to raise my rank on the leaderboards trying to get the one-credit clear on Black Tiger! Capcom definitely had a thing for fantasy stuff back in those days, black tiger, magic sword, king of dragons, knights of the round, and yeah the D&D Mystara games (which WOTC *does* own the rights to now so I guess that assessment was accurate, haha.)
The fighting games were cool to see, but aside from having the various viewpoints of the arcade cabinets you're better off playing those over on Street Fighter 30th Anniversary or the newer Capcom Fighting Collection (which has HSF2 anyway, but with online play!) this was definitely a great breakdown of the included games!
God, I wish. They might have to ask Marvel/Disney for that.
Hmm…dad on the shooters and son on the fighters - sounds like a FighterJunkie channel in the works 😉
Haha maybe. He has a repository somewhere he posts a bunch of his gameplay. But he’s like me he plays a bit of everything.
Nice. Great games here.
Wish there was a Williams arcade classics and Midway classics out for the ps5.
@@ShmupJunkie I'll probably just grab it all, what kills me though is having to spend a dollar again for game specific borders.
I have been looking forward to this review! Great work as always my dude!
You're welcome! And glad you enjoyed it. I like making these compilation videos focusing on the games.
Nice Capcom arcade Compilation here Sir. I like them all 👍👍👍💖❤💖❤💖❤
Another great vid and hearing you talk about your son was nice.
Good job and great review from Italy! Ciao
Thank you! And greeting from SoCal.
But in my opinion honest, It Was No Contest for 1st one as it’s hands down for both Shoot’Em Ups & Beat’Em Ups.
thank you, Junkie, for an interesting video! these classic arcade games are something of a wonderland, obscure yet especially appealing
You're welcome. Agreed and can't get enough of em! Always a nice break from the modern AAA stuff, or vice versa. Some of these never get old.
King of Dragons is the type of scrolling Beat 'em Up I like by far the most. Sadly, there are no other games like it.
Have you ever played Dragons Crown on PS4? Originally an older game but released again. It just may be what you’re looking for. Very fast paced and also beautiful to look at.
And i put in 3+ hrs today on 2nd stadium and got on the 3rd savage bees loop. Still so fun
Thanks again bud, like I said, I'm going to think about it
I like how you brush the enemies in Eco Fighters xD
Haha, yeah that's a cool way to use the analog stick. It was my friend wltr3565 that figured out that technique via his 1CC.
back then i remember they had street fight2 at grocery markets, gas stations, pool hall , bowling alley, malls and even laundry mats
Love your videos, hope you make one about Sky Gunner, ps2 3d (actually 3d) shmup.
I never played it actually so I'll have to look it up. There wasn't a ton of shooting games on the PS2, or well known ones aside from Gradius V.
That was some absolutely lovely Alpha 3 play!
Courtesy of my son. He gets all the credit for the Alpha 2 and 3 footage.
What a wonderful indepth review. Thank you very much.
You're welcome. And I hope it was helpful for you in deciding if there's any individual games you'll end up wanting.
Totally agree about Gun.Smoke. Was expecting the same game as NES but was disappointed.
Thanks for the Awesome detailed reviews of each one 🤗
Thing about this collection, is I already digitally own most of the games on this collection through other Capcom collections. There is literally like 2-3 things I'm interested in/don't already own and one of them I got free with my Capcom Fighting Collection purchase. Hopefully the next one will have some more unavailable stuff
At least you can get the games individually. I was waiting for Eco Fighters myself as I didn't own it yet any other way.
I'm told it was an error yeah, it doesn't look like it's going to happen
