Michael Taylor, Kyle Petty was in NASCAR for 30 years and only won 8 times and he had far better backing than Danica Patrick. Unlike her, he only raced in one professional level motorsports racing. Danica Patrick raced in several and she became the most successful female race car drover in auto racing history. The FACTS don't lie.

Kyle Petty always has my respect. He says things in a blunt, matter of fact way. Also knows how to give different perspectives most fans would never think about. Most NASCAR fans in 2010 probably wouldn't even think of the Franchitti or Montoya comparison, but when you think about it, it was a fantastic comparison by Kyle Petty.

She doesn't want to be a field filler and wants to have fun and have an opportunity. Kyle's response, "She's leaving an organization that runs up front and runs competitive. Even Marcos Ambrose, who coming from Australia had never sat in a stock car or even driven on an oval before he got to the US to start in the Truck Series (despite there actually being stock cars and ovals in Australia) did better than Danica Patrick and she had the luxury of having run on ovals previously, of being known well enough in the USA to have good connections to get good drives.
While Ambrose never won an oval race in any of the 3 series, he did get quite a few good placings and of course did win Nationwide and Cup races on road courses. Danica rarely ever placed and almost mostly wrecked no matter what the track. I don't know of a Cup Series track where she didn't either get involved in someone else's wreck or caused one of her own.

I’m coming to realize I really like Kyle Petty. Even though it would be blown out of proportion today it still took a lot of courage to say this in the past.
If you look back at Danica's 12 long years as a pro driver she has ALWAYS had some of the best equipment in the garage. Even when she was in Formula Atlantic's with Rahal Racing. In all those 12 long years she has done nothing except for one lucky win in Japan. That's it. She is nothing more than a show period.

She was a good formula 1 / cart driver but not a Nascar driver. She didn't have the talent to drive a Nascar. She couldn't make the transition. She qualified on the pole at Daytona but couldn't drive in a pack. She should have gained some experience in some of Nascar support divisions before she got into a Nascar cup car. Maybe a late model or modified. She never earned her keep . She should even have made a couple appearances in a legend car race or something. Or just stayed in cart where she was doing pretty good. I think after 12 years we can say Kyle petty was right
Oh, and by the way... That win in Japan wasn't even a full field. The only reason it wasn't a full field is because that was the same weekend Champ Car and IRL ended their decade long split and merged.

No matter what anyone says, Kyle knows NASCAR racing. He's not the greatest driver, but you have to figure, he's spent his whole life in and around the sport. While he may not be the greatest driver, he DOES know what's up.
Kyle was a way better driver than Danica, he won numerous Cup races and had over a hundred top 10s.

Private parts have nothing to do with this. Driving is using the muscles, bones, and BRAIN. She's done it this far and can continue to do so. This garbage also happens to female jockeys: if she's on a good horse, the male jockeys who are on mediocre horses are assigned to block her in so her horse won't have "running room" and she won't have a chance to win. It's done all the time by tacit understanding among all the male jockeys. It stinks. Most of Danica's crashes have been doneTO her, not BY her, btw.

His last win in 1995 was cool in the PEAK antifreeze car but there again that was not top notch equipment but he still won.

As much as I don't like Kyle Petty, I agree with him 100% on this. If you're put into a team that has put a driver into the elimination-style chase every year since it has existed and you can't run well in those cars, you have no one to blame but yourself at that point. It's been 7 years now and she's still shown no sings of significant improvement in the sport but she still gets treated like she's a goddess by the media. If she wasn't a girl she would've been out of NASCAR years ago.

Kyle Petty was a descent driver. He never had great equipment. He didn't have all the advantages his daddy did. But on Danica he was spot on. She may one day luck into Daytona or Talladega but that's about it.

I remember when kyle won the first race he ever drove, in Arca. He started out as the flavor of the month, just like Dale Jr and Danica. Kyle drove for the wood brothers and Felix Sabados. When Richard retired, Kyle was forced to take over a ride that hadn't won since 1984 when his dad won his 200th race. Kyle actually ran pretty well until He lost two friends and his son in a little over a year. It was easy for anyone to see that is a race fan, not a nascar or indy car or f1, fan, but someone who loves racing that he lost everything when Adam got killed. too many people just don't want to admit that nascar isn't about racing, it is about making money. Dale Jr has had the best equipment money can buy and hasn't won a championship, but as long as he brings in more sponsorship money than he costs, they will keep him. I like what Aj said one time on tv. AJ never had a crash that was his fault and someone spun him or something and he said. "if you want to see if someone is a race car driver, put them in a sprint car. That pretty much says it all. 1200 lbs. 850 hp. no transmission. The motor is bolted directly to the rear end. If you can handle a non winged sprint car, you can handle anything.
Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Mark Martin, Ricky Rudd, Sterling Marlin, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, Joe Nemechek, just to name a few drivers who have had top equipment and never won a championship. You cant measure a driver by how many championship trophies he has.
Ricky Rudd won a championship. Mark Martin just never won a cup championship. He will go down in history as the greatest nascar driver to never win a championship. In 89, they found a bolt in the carb that was the wrong size and took away all his points and money from a race he won. He lost the championship to Earnhardt by 34 points. He may still hold the record for the most wins in the sportsman/Bush/nationwide series, but I am not sure. They change the name every time they et a new sponsor.I am 65 years old and have been around race cars and motorcycles my whole life. Championships aren't that important but winning races is. Jeff Burton lost his ride with Rousch over sponsor money, not lack of talent. The same thing happened at RCR. Nobody has run good there since his grandkids started racing because that is where the dollars have gone. Joe Nemachek never was anything. Sterling Marlin went over 400 races before he won a race. The only races he ever won were plate races. Kyle isn't 30 yet, He and Denny will win championships and Kevin Harvik probably will, too. RCR hasn't had decent equipment in years. There is nobody in cup that has a better organization than Hendrick and I doubt they ever will. Even the the majority of the Chevy cars that win are running Hendrick motors and some like Stewart are running chassis, too. Jr. will be 40 this year. Nascar has done everything they could to find a way for him to win a championship, but if it doesn't happen this year, it won't.

anybody who KNOWS racing would realize at daytona and talladega qualifying is all about the car, foot in the gas no handling required. as for the finish, she had a fast car stayed in line all day, cant hate, Vegas showed what kind of driver she is, 5 laps down in a hendrick built car. she only beat start and park teams.

Had to do a double take on Kyle. But from what his topic is that Miss. Wreckpatrick is not a race car driver. Jr. isn't mentioned but since his name is brought up , he is a race car driver. He can bump draft which dani cant even when gently touched at Daytona by Jr , she looses it. A car runs outside of her @ Pocono she looses it. Its every weekend. It seems like Danica could still develop like any other "Nascar" driver by entering dirt track races or similar series to develop these talents Kyle Petty may be referring to those skills that she would develop that he is claiming she does not have. She is still very young, she could still get into "Dirt Track Races" or otherwise and that would probably hone her skills. I think she should still do this and not let her struggles or what people are saying , she should not let all of that discourage her.

Kyle won 8 races in his career with 184 top 10s spread out across Cup and Nationwide and placed a career high 5th in points twice, both in 1992 and 1993, this was mostly during the late 80s and early to mid 90s. Danica meanwhile has posted a grand total of 9 tops 10s in Nationwide and Cup. So no, Kyle is the more accomplished driver and no matter how much you whine and cry, the facts will never support you.

Degrading what Kyle is saying because he wasn't one of the best drivers is not a logical argument. Kyle is a very genuine speaker and I appreciate those like home who tell it like it is. If there was ever any thing to light a fire under her to want to at least be competitive I'd say this is it.

In the Cup series: lead lap finishes: 195 out of 829 races; average start vs average finish: 23.3 vs 21.3.

Kyle is straight up....everyone knows what this is about. Ratings....for TV. They got to do something....I've never seen so many races with empty stands in them. Commercials for races from Daytona, Talladega, Bristol saying tickets are still available, a WEEK before they run?.....unheard of 5 years ago.
Kyle Petty drove in Cup for 25 years. He won EIGHT races. Davey Allison raced Cup from 1987 to 1993 and won NINETEEN races. Both had famous last names. I seriously doubt Kyle Petty with any other last name would have lasted long enough in Cup to win a race.

The last race I saw, I was there, the Quaker State 400, she was the only one drafting the person in front of her. I do agree with you, Dan on her racing the car in front of her.
The last race she did, Sunday at the Quaker State 400, she did pretty good. I never was a fan of Kyle Petty, but his father was really good, I was a fan of his and still am.

I love it. I know this is old news when Kyle said if she doesn't win it's not the car. If she doesn"t win she wasted 3 years by tying up a good seat in a winning car. Yea Kyle , you were definitely speaking from experience.
Kyle won 8 races and 173 top 10's. Not a top 10 driver by any means, but he's light years ahead of anything Danica ever did.
