I still believe her looks and novelty value are why she got most, if not all of her publicity. And I never once claimed to be a great driver or even better than Patrick.
That is sad that a comedian has to defend himself and kinda defuse a situation because 2 dummies cannot take a JOKE. He was cracking jokes about everyone, not just her and she got all sour about it. Her boyfriend too got all sour about it as well. Both of them were so salty about it that they didn't even come back the following year in 2014 when he hosted it again. If I were in Danica's shoes, I would have been laughing about that too.

Danica doesn't think its funny cause its the truth . She is not a good driver in the Nascar series . She is a pretty face and she is a member of a great Nascar team so its not the CAR, Until she actually figures it out she will be a bit of a joke for the sport because to market her ,makes the sport stronger.But if you point out the overwhelming lack of success in the actual events it appears to be a crime. She was better in The Indy Cars and most drivers don't do well in that transition to Nascar. I don't think she will ever win a Nascar race. She simply is not that class of driver in the Nascar series. Dale Earnhart is more relevant but he grew up with the series and even he has underwhelmed as well . Both are likeable Drivers but sports is judged by results not looks. In Danica Patrick case , those results are pretty laughable.

No one is picking on anyone when you point out the results. You state she is a great marketing success. That is not in dispute. She is not a great Nascar driver when you consider the money behind her and the results on the track. To say someone hasn't won a Nascar race or isn't a factor in almost every single race is merely stating the obvious . The reason Danica is insecure in this humor is because it hits a tad to close to her realities. If you are a real Nascar fan and watch a lot of races which I do, its just clear she is not on rise in the sport because she is out f her league . But you are right that she certainly is a face Nascar wants to do well. The only part of te plan that is failing is her ability. Everyone is backing her and its not happening for ONE reason = that's her ability or lack thereof. So get a sense of humor as its funny and shes a millionaire many times over . The joke was funny.

Simon it is pretty simple. Winning gains everyone respect . This is about as tame of comedy as it gets. She garnishes the attention because she is a well known pretty face . You could say she seeks it . She is paid well for it .The fact that she is known is what makes her a target for this type of humor. Not because she's a woman, because she crashes herself every other race (that's being conservative), and never gets above 20th in points. 1 win is absolutely nothing in professional racing compared to other professional drivers. I thought the same thing...funny enough I saw an interview with them (spencer and Heidi) last night..they came off VERY humble and weren't in designer clothing. Therefore we are judging based on a known/historical precedence. When it comes to discrimination, this is actually a case of reverse-discrimination because she has received an opportunity, not because of skill and ability, but because she is a "minority" in racing. Furthermore, She should be extremely worried, because for the second straight year she will probably finish as the worst of the drivers in "top-tier" equipment. When the costs of running poorly start to pile up, her ROI as a marketing "tool" will diminish. However, judging by the quality of your other posts, this will probably go over your head. But it's worth a try.

Jay Mohr is awesome and so down-to-earth, too. He's been hosting Blizzcon for 14 consecutive years and has not ceased being funny. (I think a Guinness World Record for # of times hosting a game convention and 2nd to Billy Crystal @ the Academy Awards for hosting an annual awards show).
I'm confused by Danica's reaction. Does she want to be treated like "just another driver" or not? You can't have it both ways. You can't say, "Oh, when I do well, I'm just another driver", but when I do bad and get criticized for it, "You are saying that because I'm a woman."

If you watch the whole thing, Gordon took far more heat than her and Stenhouse combined, and he was laughing, smiling, having a good time. And unlike either of them he's actually made a mark on the sport (at least a mark that doesn't have swimwear as a prerequisite).
