My son and I had a chance to meet Ricky at Sonoma this year. To all the people saying he has no personality, you are flat our wrong. He was one of the nicest most cordial drivers on the track. He gave my 3 year old a fist bump and signed his book. He seemed very genuinely happy to give us just 30 seconds of his time.

Not because she's a woman, because she crashes herself every other race (that's being conservative), and never gets above 20th in points. 1 win is absolutely nothing in professional racing compared to other professional drivers. The only reason she gets any attention is because she's a woman.

First thing that came to mind when Ricky Penthouse one a race, that it was the closest Danica will get to victory lane.
She could take a page out of Amy Shumer's book who used to sit there at roasts and get hammered with comments, smile, laugh, and hit em back so hard they'd fall out of their chair. Of course Amy is actually winning in her career.

I'm confused by Danica's reaction. Does she want to be treated like "just another driver" or not? You can't have it both ways. You can't say, "Oh, when I do well, I'm just another driver", but when I do bad and get criticized for it, "You are saying that because I'm a woman."

Danica doesn't think its funny cause its the truth . She is not a good driver in the Nascar series . She is a pretty face and she is a member of a great Nascar team so its not the CAR, Until she actually figures it out she will be a bit of a joke for the sport because to market her ,makes the sport stronger.But if you point out the overwhelming lack of success in the actual events it appears to be a crime. She was better in The Indy Cars and most drivers don't do well in that transition to Nascar. I don't think she will ever win a Nascar race. She simply is not that class of driver in the Nascar series. Dale Earnhart is more relevant but he grew up with the series and even he has underwhelmed as well . Both are likeable Drivers but sports is judged by results not looks. In Danica Patrick case , those results are pretty laughable.

No one is picking on anyone when you point out the results. You state she is a great marketing success. That is not in dispute. She is not a great Nascar driver when you consider the money behind her and the results on the track. To say someone hasn't won a Nascar race or isn't a factor in almost every single race is merely stating the obvious . The reason Danica is insecure in this humor is because it hits a tad to close to her realities. If you are a real Nascar fan and watch a lot of races which I do, its just clear she is not on rise in the sport because she is out f her league . But you are right that she certainly is a face Nascar wants to do well. The only part of te plan that is failing is her ability. Everyone is backing her and its not happening for ONE reason = that's her ability or lack thereof. So get a sense of humor as its funny and shes a millionaire many times over . The joke was funny.

Simon it is pretty simple. Winning gains everyone respect . This is about as tame of comedy as it gets. She garnishes the attention because she is a well known pretty face . You could say she seeks it . She is paid well for it .The fact that she is known is what makes her a target for this type of humor. Because we all know who she is and all Nascar fans know she doesn't do well in the races. Its a formula that will last forever because the attention she gets is extremely disproportionate to her success. That's why its funny.
