But he became the elder statesman of the sport of NASCAR as the years went by and I don't think there was anyone who didn't respect his greatness and everything he accomplished. The first person I ever idolized as a little kid was Jeff Gordon. I haven't watched or been involved with Nascar in a little over a decade, but this pretty much made my cry. What a genuine, true, real, humble human being that man is. Beyond sad I won't ever see my childhood hero race again. So beyond happy for his accomplishments.
He was mine too. Like you, I haven’t kept up with NASCAR for a long time…that Martinsville race that just happened with Ross Chastain rekindled a lot of old love for the sport for me. Now I’m watching Dale Jr. download all day along with tons of other clips from old drivers I used to love, Jeff being number 1. When I was a kid, my dad and I didn’t watch football on Sundays. We watched the race. We watched NASCAR and my dad was a big tennis player, so we watched tennis a lot too. My two heroes were Jeff and Federer. Two GOATS of their respective sports who dominated throughout my childhood, (Jeff already being established before I was a kid in the early 2000s). I remember having all the little NASCAR cars and racing them on the carpet. Jeff always ended up winning. That DuPont Chevy with the ocean blue and lava flames was always the coolest looking car on the track, and Jeff could back it up with top class driving.

Ourmando Is LIT that’s tough
One of my all-time favorite drivers beside Earnhardt Sr, and Jr. Jeff was one kickass driver!!!!!!!
this is so goddamn emotional, its so hard to hold in the tears after waiting every race day hoping gordon heads to victory lane 😭 #24EVER
Gordon was never my all time favorite, he was my dads driver, but he's definitely my 2nd. Always a class act, on and off the track. Long live the Rainbow Warrior!
Does a Class Act cheat on his wife?
He was my dad's favorite too, I always liked #3
A very humble Champion, so great to see that. Don't see that too much.
Thank you Jeff Gordon! We love you man!
Damn sad I cried myself been a fan since day one
There should be another "Days Of Thunder" movie and Gordon should be in it
Yes!
And Tom Cruise should play him.
No Tom should play his original role and Jeff his rival
Gordon & jnr as crew chiefs
Days of thunder 2: 1/4 midgets to stock cars
So much respect for Jeff. A very humble guy. Hope you enjoy your retirement. Well done my fiend. Keep safe & healthy to enjoy what you accomplished. We will miss you. ❤️❤️

@@jamesknight475 nope
James Knight non chase format, he’s a 7 time champ
So Humbling to watch this man, He had such a GREAT RIDE!!...💫
Is that you Annie? "YEEEEAAAAHHH!!"
Gordon was my favorite driver him and Johnson were the dream team. This was so emotional. Gordon had a great career.
I didn’t know nascar as a kid and I always loved Jeff gordon he was always my favorite lucky 24
I am an avid Gordon fan and I loved to watch him win. That Martinsville win was amazing. I'm glad it was on a Saturday night because I have to go to bed at 9:00 P.M. It was a great moment to see him get his 93rd win in front of my own eyes. And once he won I wanted him to go beat out Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr, and Kevin Harvick at Homestead-Miami Speedway. I never got to see him win a championship because I was born in 2002 and the last time he won a championship in 2001, but it was a great experience seeing him race.
Ryan Miniman u
by far my favorite driver of all time i know it had to happen eventually but it sucks to see that 24 going around the track without jeff behind the wheel. ill always remember every race and every moment i loved watching him race and im a huge fan and always will be.
Always a 24 fan. Jeff will be my inspiration and my all-time favorite driver.
jeff gordon a true man classy strong aways willing to take a minute with the fans have a great life
Total class on and off the track! Miss you Jeff!
What is there Not to love? Raced fast raced clean and won with gratitude.
Super talent up there with all the greats. Amazing to see the bond between Jeff and Tom.
Hope you get to experience that...
As sad as it was to see Jeff retire, I always enjoyed watching this. What a great speech from a great man! I'm so glad he's commentating. He's doing a great job IMO.
Your the best Jeff! I miss you and appreciate everything you did for the sport and he world. You have had amazing career. Thank you we will miss you buddy
I'm not crying. YOU'RE crying!
Class act and as competitive as they come.
Glad he could walk way still at the top of his game and healthy.
You did well Kid.
Grew up a Gordon fan. He will always be my favorite driver! Cried when he retired
Crazy it flew by! Im really not a NASCAR person. But i remember. He got alot of bs thrown at him! He seems like pretty cool guy! And the emotion seemed real! Hope him and his family enjoy the rest of their life!
I’ve always said Tom Cruise looked like Jeff Gordon, I could see him playing him in a movie.
I never got to see you race in person but I have followed you throughout your career since I was 7 years old! I'm gonna miss seeing you on the track! I love you Jeff you have had such an amazing career! 24Ever!
This was tough for Jeff. Will miss him being off the track for a full season but will look forward for him in the booth. Thanks Jeff #24EVER
Man, Tom Cruise is good! I don't even really care about Nascar but I am getting tearey eyed watching this speech. LOL
He killed it.
Guess you didn’t see the Teleprompter in the background he was reading from then lol 😂
he a fucking nut case
Jimmie should have gotten a farewell like this.
Covid is a bitch
Jimmie hasn't retired though. Plus he has open dates that he can fill with some Nascar races if he wishes to do so since his Indy team also has two cars in the Nascar series. Teams are allowed to have four cars.
@@GamingWithGeo He's retired bro.
Even as a non JJ fan, I'd want to see him get one race when covid is gone, and get to say farewell to a full speedway.
I was at the Texas chase race in 2015 ill never forget watching Jeff live even tho ill never get to again im happy I got to at least once we love you Jeff!!!!!
One heck of a driver and what a career!!
jeff gordon, best wishes in life ..you are awesome ..my favorite number is 24
We’re going to miss you Jeff
Thank you for a great career
Teleprompter, I see you 1:45
They have teleprompters at the oscars as well, makes it easier for actors to read their speech without having to bring a speech written on paper
I remember the very first NASCAR race I watched. Jeff Gordon, had won that race and I fell in love wit him (not literally) but my dad was a huge ass fan over him and to hear on that day that he was retiring, man, I was so sad. My sisters had met him. But through my grandfather. My grandpa was a state trooper in VA and Jeff's car had broken down and he was late to a pre-race meeting and he drove him there. Meeting him, I was dead the whole time. I almost cried.
I miss him. Much love, Jeff.
we sure will miss you jeff see you when i see you on tv and farewell to you and have a great life and family! btw i almost cry while watching this like if you almost cryed.
Will Miss You Jeff!!!
I really didn't like Jeff that much growing up but this made me cry! I started watching NASCAR when I was 6 in 2010 and I knew him a lot because he was mom's favorite. God Bless you Jeff! ❤ from the USA!
I idolized Gordon. His 2007 gen 4 car was the first NASCAR discast car I got. He got me into the sport, he was the first driver I watched. Thank you for the memories! #24ever.
Hell of a ride Jeff..gonna miss you !!!! #24
And me being from Vallejo he will always be my favorite driver
We love you Jeff Gordon
Love you Jeff! Huge part of my life!
Gordon's Reaction is priceless
