It would have been better at ~ 3:10 you cut the video and put like a pause edit in there and then say what you had to say about the "my bad" and then keep going. Still great content as always Geekdom
"An 8% Chance of a Saiyan Tail to grow back" uh yeah I guess that explains why Goku’s Tail grew back twice, I always thought that the reason why Gohan’s tail didn’t grow back a second time after the Saiyan Saga was because it was cut off immediately after it grew back the first time and it could of messed with it’s growth in a way like pulling a hair completely from it’s root or something
It kinda does explains why Goku was suddenly just started to grow a tail again, By making him a child not only did he got nerfed but he went back to a state when he was more likely for him to hit that 8% chance, so he just happen to hit that 8% again between the Black Star dragon Ball hunt and the Baby stuff.
Diego Medina all we can say is that the elder kai knew a strange way for goku to grow back his tail, wish took forever probably because of the 8% or what geekdom said. Then they basically had to force his tail out😂
But that couldn't be true as Gohan's tail didn't grow back. Honestly the tail not going back because they are more powerful and there is no need of it makes sense , but not like it's stated in the game.
@@Sonic-hq9zz It's not non-canon until Toei comes out and says it isn't. Besides, as Geekdom has said numerous times, the word "canon" has lost all meaning in Dragon Ball. Toriyama is continuously adding things, like Minus, that don't line up with the original manga or anime. For that reason, I now call into question whether his word even matters anymore.
I've watched/read the Dragon Ball series for years, and have come to understand/theorize that a fighters' power seems to be in two states: Active (which is what a fighter consciously has on hand to enhance their strength, speed, durability and perform techniques. Passive (the bodies reserves of power, which is what fighters draw from to increase their "Active supply", a.k.a "powering up") What I take from that passage from the game about "exceeding the Great Ape form" is that, normally a saiyans Active power supply accounts for just 10% of their bodies full potential, and the other 90% is passively kept in reserve. This remains true even as they grow and become more powerful. The Great Ape form then, is a biological mechanism that forcibly "releases the valve" on their power, transforming their body into one that has full access to what they would normally need to "stand still and scream" to draw from. So rather than just having 10%, and maybe increasing that by a bit through "powering up", they have full access to 100% of their power by transforming (hence, the 10x multiplier). But as the saiyans in the series (Goku, Vegeta, Broly, etc.) train and grow throughout their lives, they don't just increase their power (both Active and Passive supplies), but start being able to access more and more of their bodies power more easily, even obtaining forms that can do what the Great Ape form did, but much better. Two extreme examples would be Gohan and Broly. Gohan: After having his potential unleashed by Elder Kai, he said "you can transform into Super Saiyan if you want, but it won't really matter." Meaning that Gohan already has full access to his power, without needing to transform, so it would just be a cosmetic change (he'd get the blonde hair, but his power is already at MAX). Broly: His father himself stated that Broly has somehow done what the Great Ape form does, but without transforming (granted, he already lost his tail, so maybe this is an extreme exception brought on by some kind of mutation).
Personally, I would have made it so that every month there's a 10% chance of growing back the tail. Or that it grows back frequently when the Saiyan is young and the chances of the tail growing back becomes less and less as the Saiyan grows older. This would then culminate in there being only a 10% chance every year of the tail growing back. Why? Because Super Saiyan 4 is way too marketable for the tail to have such a low chance of growing back. This would make attaining the form a little more natural in terms of story-telling.
In a way, it makes sense but in terms of evolving it would disappear one way or the other. The Saiyan body improves upon weakness it seems and because of that, anything correlated to Super Saiyan 4 is practically null and void since the Saiyan body adapts and evolves.
Technically he still could go super saiyan 4. He's that strong because he gas the beast power inside him without the tail. If he were to control his anger. Technically he can go super saiyan 4.
Here’s how I interpreted it. By itself, the tail has an 8% chance to grow back if it’s just removed. However, if the Saiyan is badly damaged in a fight where they loose their tail, a zenki that causes their power to be greater than their previous 10x multiplier will cause the body to abandon any attempt at regrowing the tail.
Nah, Broly his tail didnt grow back because he would be way too overpowered if he could go oozaru too. Also, toriyama doesnt like drawing saiyans with tails so he abandoned the whole saiyans with tails concept and even made universe saiyans tailless on purpose so he doesnt have to draw tails anymore. I love that they put the effort to answer particular questions in the fandom with this game, especially how the potential unleashed ritual works, I had no idea that it also boosted the person's unlocked power
Can we talk about how Gohan’s tail grew back out of nowhere during the fight with Vegeta in the sayian saga. If I recall before Gohan didn’t have a tail after Piccolo cut it off
It seems like that only applies if your tail has been cut off. If you still have your tail, you'll still get stronger as a Great Ape. But if you get stronger than your previous level while your tail is gone, you won't become a Great Ape
He knows that, we literally all know that. He doesn't say anything against that in this vid; what he's saying here is that this could explain why his tail didn't grow back _after_ being removed by Paragus
I think it should be worded as follows: The tails are not needed once a transformation that provides a higher multiplier has been achieved. Not "once the 10x multiplier has been passed." It makes the wording open to interpretation.
dude! i'm still playing through the game!! i had the feeling they'd include some of the story lines from the films but I've so far managed to avoid any spoilers. can we keep videos like this to a minimum for a while? people like me only have limited time to play video game between working and parenting.
Honestly I wish tails were implemented in the series again. They don’t even need to bring in ssj4 but just the concept of tails for saiyans was always cool for me.
... Nah man I want my SS4s, also having the tail allow for superior control of the SS3 is a pretty cool concept (even if it is pretty irrelevant in the current continuity)
Geek i thought you did a video about this before. It was stated in your vid that A. Toriama stop drawing the tails because it toke to much time to do. And stated that A. Toriama forgot about it after awhile. So the game is just a game with a little extra into it because everyone played the same game since DBZ Butaki on the PS
How I've always understood the Saiyan tail is that after losing the tail it will grow back while a Saiyan is a kid (because they are still growing) and will not grow back after they have grown up (matured/fully grown), but still usable as long as you have it; and hybrid-saiyans have a chance of being born with one. Example: Gohan, Trunks, and Goten are half-saiyan, so 50/50 chance. But honestly this "understanding" about the tail is so simple and it pretty much would cover any questions.
At that point it almost goes well with the idea of evolution as they grow, the more the Saiyans powered up, honed their skills the less they'd need to rely on transformations and the less the body would feel the need to "regenerate" the tail etc.
This also ties into the universe 6 Saiyans evolving out of their tails... since they seemingly have much more latent potential than universe 7 saiyans there was no need for em
Man,they cut of the tail a lot of times and they grew up..So we needed this explanation about why aaaaand this explain the lack of tails in Saiyans of U6!
Toriyama: "Tails are a recessive trait." DBZ Fans: "So THAT'S why Trunks and Goten didn't have one of those!" Me, an intellectual: "WHO IS GOHAN'S REAL MOTHER?!"
@@Geekdom101 yea but like I was confused cause vegetas tail never grew back so I assumed once it's cut it's gone forever most of the time. Besides some exceptions like retcons from Goku and some others
I figured it out: if a Saiyan's tail is cut off, within a certain time frame, it has an 8% chance to grow back. But if the said Saiyan trains so that their base power exceeds that of their great ape form in that same time frame before their tail grows back, their tail just doesn't grow back
The whole tail thing I interpret as if a Sayian surpasses the power of their MOST RECENT Great Ape transformation before the tail grows back then the tail will not grow back, so Goku growing up as a kid went great ape multiple times basically resetting the power he'd have to surpass constantly so it had to be fully removed by Kami. Vegeta got a bunch of zenkai boosts after going great ape, so he surpassed his Great Ape's power. Gohan also got crazy strong after his last great ape when getting his potential unleashed and continuing to train. So every Sayain we know went Great Ape absolutely surpassed the power of the last Great Ape transformation they had before their tails grew back (except Goku because he's our special boy) At least this is what makes to most sense to me
Arthimetes Arto Vegeta didn’t surprise his last Great Ape Transformation until his battle against Final Form Freeza. If you could call that curb stomp a battle.
@@RickyUzumaki993 yes but that was still before his tail grew back. The entire namek saga took place in a relatively short amount of time, about a couple months or so.
@@Arthimetes Good point, but what about Goku? He killed Gohan when his power was far weaker than it was the 2nd tim he transformed. Even if we give him a PL of 100 in his first Great ape transformation, Goku is still stronger than that by the time he fought Roshi at the Tournament. So going by that logic, he shouldn't have been able to transform given he had already surpassed his ape form from when he killed Gohan and when him and gang were captured by Pilaf.
@@Shandawgx actually it was paragus knows of the tails abilities and it wouldn't be smart for someone strong like broly to be walking around like that plus he mentions it at some point before broly fights Vegeta
Love your stuff! I think that the idea of the tail not growing back is that if a saiyans base power increases 10 fold during the period that their tails are cut off, at that point they won’t grow back. So in a sense, if they lose their tail and don’t gain 10x of strength through fights and training while being tailess, then they have an 8% of growing back. But if they do “close the gap” during that period of time, then the tail will not grow back. But who the fuck knows. Also, how would the tail getting in the way ever be a problem if they could train the weaknesses away while it continues to be a 10X multiplier. That actually makes less sense to me than the Kakarot game explanation. Although, they both are a bit silly.
What u said makes sense, since universe 6 saiyans have evolved past having tails at birth just like goten & trunks, and that generation of saiyans can easily transform into super saiyan without the need of anger (anger being a major saiyan trait needed for power at the beginning of the series)
@Geekdom101 I think the "power exceeds the strength of the great ape" is more along the lines of if you exceed whatever your power was as a great ape at the time of your tail's removal then it will no longer grow back. So like Vegeta in the Saiyan arc had what? A power level of like 180K as a Great Ape? Then he loses his tail. He isn't around any moons or blutz waves at all from that point through the entire Namek arc where he eventually exceeds that 180K PL by the end of the Frieza saga. And thus he would not have his tail regrow. With that logic it kinda works out for Gohan too. I mean his Power Level was what? 1500-2000 pre-great ape during the fight with Vegeta? So his Great ape was like 15-20,000. By the end of Namek Gohan had his potential unlocked and would have gained a couple Zenkai boosts easily exceeding the whole 15-20,000 power level and thus his tail would never regrow. So fast forward to Broly, with how quickly he rises in power if his dad removed his tail really early on, then it's quite possible his Power Level would grow faster than the tail would.
I think they could have said something like this: When a saiyan grows stronger, he produces more "s-cells" that are needed for becoming a super saiyan and because they are reaching the power of a super saiyan. But the more s-cells a saiyan produces the lower the chance of the tail growing back and thus unable to transform into a great ape. Thats why half saiyans are born without tails because half saiyans are known of having more s-cells than a full blooded saiyan. Hope you understand what i mean.
Geekdom the game is saying that if your base form's power level exceeds what your great ape form's power level was at the time it was cut off, it will not grow back.
The way I would think of it is that base ‘untrained’ strength is more akin to the real world, as opposed to being ‘multiplier since birth’. For example, if I stopped going to the gym for a year I would have a genetic base strength that I would drop down to, much like how Gohans base strength dropped when he stopped training. This is what I think they meant when they say that the tail stops growing after the Saiyan exceeds the multiplier. This also makes a lot more sense to the lore.
The way characters progress seem like there may be some diminishing returns on transformations. Multipliers will multiply your power by whatever the number is up to a point and then the multiplier starts dropping. It at least would help explain some of the minor characters keeping pace with goku to a degree.
It makes sense. They're saying at the point in which your tail was cut off, you can no longer transform. If your power then exceeds your great ape transformation, then the chance of you growing becomes smaller.
From what I heard a dude said that in the LN it kept growing back but he's father keeps cutting it so during the time of the movie it was gone so it might grow back
Well can someone interview akir and ask him “If Trunks was hit with the blunt waves, would he be able to go Great ape?” “If so, would his tail be blue or brown?” “Would ssj4 make his hair black or blue?” “Would his eyes be blue just like Vegeta’s?” Same applies to bulla even tho it’s not confirmed that she does or doesn’t have a tail yet. I’m going to she does, because one of goku’s child has one and the other doesn’t... so I wouldn’t be surprise if he did the same for vegeta’s child. And let’s not forget that whis brought her out the womb while bulma was pass over due with bulla. My point is that Whis could’ve gave her the tail since he knows Saiyans are born with a tail. Or thought that it was strange knowing she wasn’t going to have a tail, so he gave her one during the process. Whis is an Angel🤷♂️ man can rewind time and bring people back to life, so I wouldn’t be. Surprise if he can give tailless hybrid Saiyans a tail or change their tail gene to a dominant gene. You would think the tail gene would he dominate lol
When I saw the thumbnail, I was like Broly's in this game too, but I knew better than to believe that. I guess it makes sense, considering that Goku and the others attained SSJ forms that are stronger than the Great Ape.

3:05 wtf happened there lol
Btw, why is it that all of these "explanations" coming out of Kakarot are worded so poorly?
because i made a mistake editing

Google translate man. Doesn't work well all the time.
This is why Geekdom is the literal God of the dragonball universe
“As strong as goku” maybe it’s only referring to the goku in the game. Since it is a video game goku must have a level cap in the game right?
Hihi the two voices are really funny . Nice Video Geekdom 😉😉
Continue the good work.
My headcanon was that a tail only grows back once or only grows back during childhood. Which is why Vegeta never grew his back later

Can we talk about how Gohan’s tail grew back out of nowhere during the fight with Vegeta in the sayian saga. If I recall before Gohan didn’t have a tail after Piccolo cut it off

Maybe gohan getting a senzu did it? I’m not sure it seems rather inconsistent
You close to a million subs, keep up the good work
3:05 something went wrong in the editing process for this one.
It seems like that only applies if your tail has been cut off. If you still have your tail, you'll still get stronger as a Great Ape. But if you get stronger than your previous level while your tail is gone, you won't become a Great Ape
this exactly how i see it bro
you do realize that Paragus mentioned that he removed Brolys tail right?
BIG FACTS
He’s just trying to find something to complain about
He knows that, we literally all know that. He doesn't say anything against that in this vid; what he's saying here is that this could explain why his tail didn't grow back _after_ being removed by Paragus
I think it should be worded as follows:
The tails are not needed once a transformation that provides a higher multiplier has been achieved.
Not "once the 10x multiplier has been passed." It makes the wording open to interpretation.
The is no canon only continuities.....several continuities and it's all glorious
You know what's another overused word these days? Iconic.
This makes so much sense thanks for explaining
dude! i'm still playing through the game!! i had the feeling they'd include some of the story lines from the films but I've so far managed to avoid any spoilers. can we keep videos like this to a minimum for a while? people like me only have limited time to play video game between working and parenting.
Dang i just thought brolly could have been a perfect way to reintroduce ssj4
Honestly I wish tails were implemented in the series again. They don’t even need to bring in ssj4 but just the concept of tails for saiyans was always cool for me.
... Nah man I want my SS4s, also having the tail allow for superior control of the SS3 is a pretty cool concept (even if it is pretty irrelevant in the current continuity)
3:05 had me rolling
basically im jah 🤣🤣
Geek i thought you did a video about this before. It was stated in your vid that A. Toriama stop drawing the tails because it toke to much time to do. And stated that A. Toriama forgot about it after awhile. So the game is just a game with a little extra into it because everyone played the same game since DBZ Butaki on the PS
Im just going to asume it's based on S Cells count.
Z cells
@@eduardorosales4391 *S cells.....
No it was stated that paragus ripped his tail off because it was to dangerous and he couldn’t control it. he said so in the movie
At that point it almost goes well with the idea of evolution as they grow, the more the Saiyans powered up, honed their skills the less they'd need to rely on transformations and the less the body would feel the need to "regenerate" the tail etc.
Wait, didn't one of the saiyans get around his tail being a vulnerability.
You may be thinking of Turles who was a movie villain
@@ItsThatKidGreg And Nappa, who was a manga villain.
Possible Head Cannon: What if the tail stops growing back once you have unlocked Super Saiyan?
That would be more logical since goten and trunks never had one
Paused my video and rewinded thinking a different Geekdom video was on in the background.
This also ties into the universe 6 Saiyans evolving out of their tails... since they seemingly have much more latent potential than universe 7 saiyans there was no need for em
That recessive trait explanation just sounds like a cover up for the fact that he forgot that Gohan had one
Sooooo no possibility of SSJ4 in Super? 🤣🤣
Correct me if im wrong but didnt Brolys father say why took his tail off? I literally just saw this part in the movie
Man,they cut of the tail a lot of times and they grew up..So we needed this explanation about why aaaaand this explain the lack of tails in Saiyans of U6!
AMVMakerGintoki they’re more evolved than U7 saiyans that’s why they get strong fast and attained ssj quickly
Toriyama: "Tails are a recessive trait."
DBZ Fans: "So THAT'S why Trunks and Goten didn't have one of those!"
Me, an intellectual: "WHO IS GOHAN'S REAL MOTHER?!"
Humans have genes to have tails
(If you’re joking then just ignore me)

Thank you I was looking for a video to cover this because it didn’t make sense to me
I thought paraugus cut off his tail in the movie
Yeah but this explains why it won't grow back.
you know it grows back right?
doesn't mean he won't continue to cut it off. it's just common sense.
@@Geekdom101 yea but like I was confused cause vegetas tail never grew back so I assumed once it's cut it's gone forever most of the time. Besides some exceptions like retcons from Goku and some others
Boonk Gang how is gokus a retcon when he’s the first one we see lose and regrow his tail?
So every Sayain we know went Great Ape absolutely surpassed the power of the last Great Ape transformation they had before their tails grew back (except Goku because he's our special boy)
At least this is what makes to most sense to me
Arthimetes Arto
Vegeta didn’t surprise his last Great Ape Transformation until his battle against Final Form Freeza. If you could call that curb stomp a battle.
@@RickyUzumaki993 yes but that was still before his tail grew back. The entire namek saga took place in a relatively short amount of time, about a couple months or so.
Arthimetes Arto
True
Vegeta didn't surpass his Great Ape form (180,000) until his third Zenkai boost on Namek.
Are you still playing Dokkan Danny? I've noticed you almost exclusively featuring the art from the game...nice video as usual
Huh? It was clearly explained in DBS Broly movie lol.
Nah bruh it wasn't
Shandon yeah Paragus states he removed it cause Broly was out of control I’ve seen the movie like 50 times by now
@@Shandawgx actually it was paragus knows of the tails abilities and it wouldn't be smart for someone strong like broly to be walking around like that plus he mentions it at some point before broly fights Vegeta
@@Shandawgx yeah it was. You clearly didn't watch it or missed it lol.
Also if paragus was scared of broly before why wouldn't he cut it to prevent broly killing him
3:05 thought I was having a stroke
love ur vids
The reason why trunks Singleton from dragon Ball don't have tails because yoga tournament forgot about tails
3:05 I mean no harm but when that happened I was so sleepy I thought the audio just started clipping over its self like a montage
I think they could have said something like this:
When a saiyan grows stronger, he produces more "s-cells" that are needed for becoming a super saiyan and because they are reaching the power of a super saiyan.
I always assumed that only kids saiyans could grow tails back. Evidence: kid gohan, kid goku, and GT goku
I almost shat my pants when I heard the double voice at 3:05 lmao
The way I would think of it is that base ‘untrained’ strength is more akin to the real world, as opposed to being ‘multiplier since birth’.
For example, if I stopped going to the gym for a year I would have a genetic base strength that I would drop down to, much like how Gohans base strength dropped when he stopped training. This is what I think they meant when they say that the tail stops growing after the Saiyan exceeds the multiplier. This also makes a lot more sense to the lore.
Entertaining as always!! A question I have now after watching. For what reason did Gohan's tail not regrow after Vegeta cut it off?
I think the double-voice culprit was actually future Geekdom101 uploading the same video around the same time.
The way characters progress seem like there may be some diminishing returns on transformations. Multipliers will multiply your power by whatever the number is up to a point and then the multiplier starts dropping. It at least would help explain some of the minor characters keeping pace with goku to a degree.
Bro this is a small loophole on how ssj4 form will get introduced after discovery of black Freiza
It makes sense. They're saying at the point in which your tail was cut off, you can no longer transform. If your power then exceeds your great ape transformation, then the chance of you growing becomes smaller.
Pretty sure the Broly movie explains why Broly no longer has a tail. Paragus tells Frieza he cut it off
From what I heard a dude said that in the LN it kept growing back but he's father keeps cutting it so during the time of the movie it was gone so it might grow back
Well can someone interview akir and ask him “If Trunks was hit with the blunt waves, would he be able to go Great ape?” “If so, would his tail be blue or brown?” “Would ssj4 make his hair black or blue?” “Would his eyes be blue just like Vegeta’s?”
Same applies to bulla even tho it’s not confirmed that she does or doesn’t have a tail yet. You would think the tail gene would he dominate lol
sniperallstar the recessive gene thing is a retcon or else Gohan wouldn’t have been born with the tail
Paradise Lord Ryū i figures because I swear he said just don’t like drawing the tails no more🤷♂️ he could’ve just said they were cut of scene💀
When I saw the thumbnail, I was like Broly's in this game too, but I knew better than to believe that. I guess it makes sense, considering that Goku and the others attained SSJ forms that are stronger than the Great Ape.
