    This year's Sanderson Farms Championship - held at the Country Club of Jackson in Mississippi - offers full FedExCup points for the first time. Last year Cameron Champ scooped his first PGA TOUR victory with a four shot win over Corey Conners. In fact, six of the past seven Sanderson Farms Championship victors have been first-time winners on the PGA TOUR. Could this be the moment for recently named Rookie of the Year Sungjae Im to land his first title?

    If I may. We are seeing an evolution in the game of golf. We are also seeing an evolution of the male golfer. Increasingly, the latest generation of men are taller, with longer torsos, longer arms and thinner chests. I'm 6 ft. 2 in. tall, but in the face of today's generation, I feel short. The golf pros of the day are better conditioned than the previous generation. They are also more flexible and thus can generate more clubhead speed. Driving the ball 300 yards used to be the holy grail for the past generation. But only Nicklaus,Daly, Woods and a few others could drive the ball that far. Now several pros can hit the ball an average of 340 yards and occasionally, slam out a drive of 400 yards. Technology absolutely plays a part in this transition. This poses a challenge for golf course builders. Will they have to lengthen courses to 8,000 yards? The game of golf is changing and it will fascinating to see what happens over the long run.

    All the new guys coming through are hitting it miles they have to make the rough higher and fairways smaller it’s getting to stage if it’s not a major it’s 20 under winning a lot of them . Still I love it and it’s not all about length but driver 8 9 pw on most holes they have to do something about the ball or get more real estate . Thinking long term . Love seeing them smash it tho .

    • @ZickDorito
      @ZickDorito 4 года назад +1

      not really. you can make the course challenging with strategic design even though you're not making the course narrower or longer. but the long hitters are supposed to have an advantage because of superior athletic ability

    • @samuraisoul1043
      @samuraisoul1043 4 года назад

      TGCdesign Sverige yeah I agree they deserve it if they put the work in but I’m just thinking long term for the game.there is courses where more water etc makes it long iron of tee that’s true . I still love it and smash factor is insane . I just think not all courses are hard enough . But I ain’t complaining it’s great to see this golf . The driveable par 4 is interesting risk and reward I love that to . Just blown away by the 430 to 480 holes being a drive and a flick .

      @ZickDorito 4 года назад +1

      @@samuraisoul1043 not talking about water. More about courses that need more precise placement off the tee to get a good angle into smaller landing areas on the greens. Look at erin hills when they had 50 yard fairways and still couldn't hit them. St Andrews Old Course is another perfect example. not super long, not that narrow, but plenty of trouble without having to lose your ball.
