It starts to make sense why gta definitive edition was a thing and why they "seemed to care only for online". People seem to forget the real masters behind L.A. Noire, Team Bondi. Rockstar actually had nothing to do with the development of L.A. Noire, they only published it and took all the credit, even on the covers and box art. The only time when Team Bondi is clearly stated is in the opening credits and when you load the game and see the legal terms and logos in a 1940s style cinematic.
Since Rockstar games only published it meant Team Bondi outright owned it. Even after Team Bondi closed, the rights are still with Brendan McNamara so Rockstar could never make a sequel. And before anybody mentions the VR version, McNamara and his new company made that.

This game for me is a continuum of sorts of the old Police Quest pc games from the 80's. I loved those and this game reminds me of them only so much better and set in the late 40's. I just started playing it and it really is a fantastic game!

I was disappointed by LA Noire after playing San Andreas. At the time my expectations was that games (specifically open world RPG's) would keep getting more detailed, a more faithful recreation of environments, a more realistic simulation. So after San Andreas, LA Noire felt far too shallow for me.

Yeah, luckly the V Patch make it playable at 60 or more FPS, because the 30 FPS lock really outdates it.
And, most importantly, fixes all the playability issues you had before at 60.

If Rockstar want to do a proper remaster, they'll need to remake the face model to modern standard and map the capture performance to a fully rigged face instead of just projecting. That plus new full body motion capture to replace existing animation.
Another thing to add is activities to the open world. Let you take time off between cases to explore and do stuff. Go to jazz bar, play games, watch public domain movies, and flesh out Cole's domestic life. Also add in an Assassin's Creed style education tour.

I would love a LA Noire 2 or remastering with more exploration of the old LA with more building interiors, better facial expressions, and maybe some new cases.

Studios do still use the tech involved to scan and place faces in games tho, you can see it in some games like rdr2 or tlou2 and other high profile releases today. But it's a lot more efficient now where use a total scan and then also use head rigs that record facial movements during full motion capture performances at the same time rather than doing the va and facial capture and full motion capture separately. It's still advancing as a tech and has been sized down over time to make it work better for ease of production. They use this a lot in movies today too like in marvel stuff or like what they did with avatar.

My biggest gripe with this game is that there isn’t enough to do outside of the cases. If we got more to do with Phelps it would have given us a chance to connect more with the him. However, the cases and stories involved were great except the clues and choices that felt arbitrary.

I actually stopped playing this game because the old system of "truth, lie, accuse" etc. was absolutely horrible at describing what the reaction of your character will be
So many times I wanted to say someone is lying in the smirky, detective, calm and collected "I know you're lying" type of way, and Cole would literally threatet to bash a defenseless ladies head in...it threw me off a few times and when it truly broke imerssion for me I ended up not playing it anymore

This game was ok. Starts off great but quickly gets repetitive. It’s been 11 years since I played it but I do remember it having major flaws. The graphics were amazing though. Every game that was just decent or not well received always gets the retrospective “I was wrong review” a decade later
