    @david heether The VWR springs ride almost identical to stock and are more about giving the vehicle a lower stance than handing. The Bilstein PSS Coilovers ride stiffer than the VWR springs but not a considerable amount. It is our opinion that these coilovers would an acceptable daily driver for most people.

    Would you recommend these for a daily driven GLI? Was previously running Solowerks and I regretted it every time I got in the car. The compromise in ride quality (harshness) was not worth it for me. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

    Did you have any issues with rubbing? It seems like on a couple of those turns with bumps you were getting pretty close to the inner fender liner and the top edge of the fender itself.

    just wondering if you so far had any noises such as clunks and rattles. Had KW street comforts and it would occasionally clunk over large dips. want a coilovers that doesn't do that

    • @THATNI99AJOHN
      @THATNI99AJOHN 5 лет назад

      That could be the mounts , I know this is a old post and hope you solved your problem by now . Usually when clunks and rattles comes from the stock mounts .

  • @MrWindmad

    I was just about to order them but then thought that if you set them to their maximum ride height you should be losing those 20 mm of suspension travel, which is terrible

    • @Deutscheautoparts
      @Deutscheautoparts  8 лет назад +4

      +MrWindmad Suspension travel is relative to the spring and shocks installed. A properly tuned suspension (like a set of these coilovers) will be extremely unlikely to bottom out.
      Hope this explanation makes sense

    Thank you for getting back to me about my settings. Unfortunately I have no clue how to change the settings. I looked at everything to change it but I guess it won't change for me?? Can you just post a comment instead of a reply on how the coilers compare to the VWR springs? I got H&R springs but I haven't even got the car yet. Just hoping to get a perspective as a daily driver if the springs are comfortable enough for the street.

    I just recently added EMD springs very disappointed. I listened to everyone and went with springs. My front struts blew out. Rode very harsh. Sounds like a gun shot over bumps. I’m annoyed bc now I have to pay install twice. Good I didn’t align my car. Bc now I’m going coilovers B14.

    I recently installed Bilstein B16 on my GTI Mk6. I think the click setting in front wheels is maximum. Bad news is the front wheel (right hand side / driver side) still rub wheel arc on some shallow dip at around 40km/hr. I used OZ 18” wheels is there any way to overcome this issue? Thanks

    I realise this is an old post, but I’ll give it a go. . . . . been thinking about getting a set of B14 coilovers for my golf 7.5R (non-dcc) just for road use, from all the reviews I’ve seen they seem like a really good suspension upgrade in terms on handling. .but there’s not much out there on the ride quality over the stock setup, any advice much appreciated 👍😎

    • @michaelw6277
      @michaelw6277 3 года назад +1

      I believe the key with these is to avoid lowering them beyond Bilstein's recommendations. Reason being that if you drop it too low you're effectively riding on the bumpstops, leading to a very harsh and bouncy ride.
      These are almost certainly not going to be as smooth as stock, but adjusted properly I'd think they would be easy to live with.

I have a rear sway on as well so wondering if there is any recommendation on settings for both daily smoothness and precise handling around corners...No interest in lowering to much unless there is going to be benefit seen in doing so ...thanks

      ToxikDouche my advice to you my friend don't mess with the suspension but if you do get this Coilovers they are amazing.. I had them for a year the ride quality won't be same it will be stiffer, you have learned how to drive a lower car or the first thing you will damage will be your front bumper!! I have the stock suspension again my passenger are happier!!

    • @RaytheonNublinski

      A little firmer than vwr which are a little firmer than stock. If that math is correct then I'll go with vwr then since on longer trips even the stock suspension gets annoying.

    • @Dave-gg6vl
      @Dave-gg6vl 7 лет назад +1

      B12s come in 2 flavours the pros or sportlines which refer to the springs. Basically they are a Bilstein B8 shocks bundled together with a set of Eibach sportline or pro lowering springs. B14s are height adjustable coilovers so u can adjust the height but not the dampening. The B12s are non adjustable.

      fair enough, I'm having quite the trouble choosing coilovers as it is very expensive to get the KW DDC, and Not really keen on changing to springs because that'll shorten the life of my shocks. All GTI came standard with DCC in Australia.
