The pope told the clergy to read the documents of the Church more carefully. Great advice! If people would just take the time to read the ORIGINAL documents and to read them more CAREFULLY (notice the emphasis I have added) then we wouldn't have needless "controversy" about very simple Church teaching and practice.
Yup. You can no longer trust the media to give you accurate, unbiased information.
How about just read God's word and that alone. Otherwise, it's the doctrine of man and we should obey God rather than man.

This is one of Pope Francis' biggest problems. He often says things that give the wrong impression. He said, "I have forgiven everything" (except in one case). This is simply not true. The priest does not forgive, it is God who forgives THROUGH the priest. Catholics know what he means but this statement will confirm protestants and others in their belief that Catholics believe the Pope has the same powers as God. It will provide even more ammunition that can be used against Catholicism.

Hypocrisy is unforgivable.
This media outlet, falsely states, the document, “allows priests to bless couples in same sex relationships”. It does not do that.
Just read the quote from the document slowly. Separate the sentences.
It does not allow or tell, priests, to bless same-sex unions.
It literally says, “a requested blessing”, for anything outside liturgical norms, “should not be imparted, in concurrence, with civil unions, and NOT EVEN in connection with them!”
“Nor ANYTHING resembling a wedding.”
… then the confusing part. Apparently.
“The same applies to same sex couples.”
What applies to same sex couples?
All of the restrictions above! The same scrutiny that applies to ANY couple asking for a blessing. This basically allows … nothing, for same sex couples. It changes, nothing. The Church’s view on same sex couples stands, and this document did … nothing … to promote same sex couples.

It is true God forgives sins but as Christ representative on earth priests were given authority by Christ at the sacrament of confession to forgive sins ,
Jesus also said No man can come to the Father but by me. And Peter said Repent and be baptized for the remission of sins himself. Jesus gave them the authority to preach and spread the gospel. To go and baptize people in His blood. So anyone they did preach and baptized were forgiven and anyone they didn't weren't. @@Tyler_AJPM
