I hope that all those very rich folks in Florida who were not affected, that have huge million dollar homes will offer a place of shelter to those who don't have a home, until they can rebuild.

Man....this is apocalyptic. How long will this take to put back together? And so many of these homes/cars/etc. are so badly damaged will have to be trashed.
Basic search and rescue will be 5 days to 2 weeks. Getting core power lines back up and operational 2 to 5 weeks. Bridges roads etc are temp within days to weeks, 6 months to 2 years for proper repairs or replacements. Homes? Neighborhoods? Businesses? At best the debris removal will be a months long proposition. Rebuilding, even with quick cheap housing if done, is well over 18 months if every resource and full funds are instantly available via insurance and govt and crews... Repairs on those that can will start right away once flooding and access is dealt with. Some will get done within 6 months to a year, probably longer for those that have more than the roof and minimal lower flood damage. But odds are more likely that only the first NEW homes on repaired streets and infrastructure zones will be done 2 years out and stretching for many years longer.
You CAN tell new construction to the old lots of roofs intact no shingles but still intact! Very sad situation hoping for the best for everyone! This WILL BREAK THE INSURANCE COMPANIES !
This is wild. Definitely need an investigation into what happened. This bridge was opened in 2007, after Charlie in 2004 so should have been designed with future storms in mind. A 15 year old bridge shouldn't collapse like this.
You do realize that Hurricanes have devastated nearly every state on the east coast, throughout the years. Places like New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina and obviously, Florida. How devastating my heart goes out to all and we visit at least once a year and love this area 💔
I moved to Florida in 1983, and it was Paradise. I lost everything I owned in 2004 when the back porch flew off my house and took the roof with it. FEMA and my friend, Kelly saved me. 6 months later I found a rental to live in. I went thru another 6 hurricanes before I finally left in 2018.
May all those in peril find safety soon ❤
Prayers to all of the family's for a speedy recovery from this horrible disaster 😔
you could see that the water was way higher than in this surveillance video because stuff was piled up look like maybe 10 ft higher that would mean every single house is pretty much destroyed the water has went down a lot but obviously it must have came up to like the ceiling on every single house on the island
This is heartbreaking. There is already a huge housing shortage in almost every state and very little affordable housing for middle class and the poor. I hope that all those very rich folks in Florida who were not affected, that have huge million dollar homes will offer a place of shelter to those who don't have a home, until they can rebuild.
With that much damage there is almost no chance that the sections of bridge and causeway that did survive are going to be salvageable.
No the piers all seem like they are fine. It's just the on ramps held up by retaining walls that collapsed due to inundation.
You can hear the astonishment and trauma in the reports voices. Such a difficult thing reporting on such a tragedy.
That bridge will be out for months, the repair contracts alone will take a while. Best they can hope for is to instigate some sort of temporary ferry service or pontoon bridge until the causeway can be rebuilt. What a mess.
There will be no bridge for a long time, I doubt there will be a new or repaired bridge within the next 18 months.
I grew up in Northport, Pt Charlotte, & Ft Myers. So sorry to see what happened to it. Still have family&friends that I love.
My goodness this is massive destruction let's pray everyone is safe
OMG Lord send help from the north, south, east and west, touch peoples hearts who are able to assist in whatever way they can,in Jesus Name Amen and Amen thank God
Terrible sad to see the devastation, my heart goes out to all those affected and hopefully no loss of life, prayers for everyone from Western Australia 😢💙🇦🇺
This reminds me of Katrina it was so powerful it took out Bridges and DiamondHead and Bay St. Louis was GONE 😳😭😭
It broke my heart to see ft Myers beach
Punta Rassa to Harlem Heights is the area they are showing. The two towers would be the Mastique @1:56, a Condominium Complex on Mastique Beach Blvd. I don't even live in Florida, but he power of Google maps makes it easy to find when you zoom in and around and look for landmarks. Feel bad for the people of Florida going through this.
Amazing coverage, I was glued. Feeling sad for all my family and friends down there.
Originally from Savannah, GA now living in Jesup, GA a mere 65 SW from Savannah no hurricanes, maybe some winds like tropical storm. Don't miss the anxiety and worries; no electricity(and how long), when we run out of food and water. We were lucky, our family could hunker (go GA Bulldogs). You have to keep your humor or go a little insane 😉 😄
Don't miss those type of pictures of my long ago backyard.
E de partir o ❤️ coracao chorei não tenho palavras que triste 😢 que Deus abençoe todos que estão passando por esta tribulação. Sou do Brasil, do sul estou orando p todos
THAT woman is jumping to conclusions that aren't supported by the video. She should stop deciding what happened until she gets facts from on-site.
She is also explaining the obvious. Like "these are washed up boats".
EDIT: Some commentators below suggest she is describing what can be seen in the video to the benefit of recipients who can receive audio only. I did not think about that. So I retract what I wrote above.
Yeah odd, they have a video and didn't have any more information about it than us viewers. They didn't even know what area it was from.
She couldn’t keep up with her ghost writer as well
How hard is it to get the chopper to tell you where it is? These people really suck at their job.
@@andy99ish they kept explaining the visuals for people who were listening and couldn't see the video. My guess is there's a separate audio feed going out as well.
Lesson #1, never try to ride out a hurricane on a barrier island unless you are prepared to swim or have a boat to get to the mainland.
Or at least a life jacket .. a good one
Here come the Monday morning quarterbacks. How about just send your thoughts and prayers, instead of your unnecessary “pointers”. Unbelievable!!!
Cripes Lisa…let him speak.
Please have the girl stop talking over him., or allow one person’s description. One would be enough. This is one of the best channels out there, that reveals to the hearts and minds of everyone else; those untouched by this life threatening disaster. You are providing a way for others to see and realize the scope of this powerful unprecedented hurricane Ian. . I am viewing your report on RUclips from Arizona. Thank you for such thorough coverage. I certainly send prayers for all who are devastated. I do pray this is not the beginning of the end for many of us in future days as the weather changes for the worse in other regions of USA Certainly our way of life could be threatened everywhere. Thank you for being there.
She wants to be the big dog, but very annoying
Thank you for covering,
I wish this female reporter would shut up and let the guy also discuss the locations because he's got a better handle on it than she does.
Excellent news work ...video .....the best I've seen all day !
You’d think these guys would have been ready for the broadcast. Some great shots. Thanks
Man....this is apocalyptic. How long will this take to put back together? And so many of these homes/cars/etc. are so badly damaged will have to be trashed.
Years.
We are still repairing parts of this county from hurricane sally and it was a cat 2.
It’s been over 2 years now.
4-6 years
Biden will built back better in no time.
The roofing improvement is incredible.
The causeway will take a long time to be repaired. This is tragic for Sanibel, a truly great place.
But it didn't take long to repair!
Not only is bridge gone, but what ever land you can use to rebuild are gone. This doesn't look like an old bridge either.
yeah its 15 years old
Oraciones Grandes para Los que sufrieron en este Dia...
Tell that lady to stop talking so much!
i agree she sucks cant talk without a teleprompter
Sending prayers for all from KY. rebuilding will be a very long process. Stay strong, keep the faith. 🙏
Like that does anything. Get real.
Heart wrenching 😢
You CAN tell new construction to the old lots of roofs intact no shingles but still intact! Very sad situation hoping for the best for everyone! This WILL BREAK THE INSURANCE COMPANIES !
This is wild. Definitely need an investigation into what happened. This bridge was opened in 2007, after Charlie in 2004 so should have been designed with future storms in mind. A 15 year old bridge shouldn't collapse like this.
Unless a category 4 hurricane hit it.
You are forgetting the Florida is known for shoddy construction.
@@sarahdeshay1394 Charlie was a category 4 and hit the 40 year old bridge that was known to be in bad condition and it didn't collapse.
@@sarahdeshay1394 Just...No. Please come back when you can think like a grownup.
What can withstand the power of the Most High?
Always a chance of disaster when you live in areas close to the water. Its a blessing when the weather is good and a curse when it goes sideways.
You do realize that Hurricanes have devastated nearly every state on the east coast, throughout the years. Places like New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina and obviously, Florida. They’ve also hit states like Louisiana, Tennessee and many other states. Should no one live on the entire east coast of the United States? Should no one live in Louisiana?? Is that your “genius” suggestion?? I wonder if you even realize how insensitive and ridiculous you sound. Apparently not, or you wouldn’t post such uncalled for nonsense, right?
@@chrisjenkins203 did someone pee in your corn flakes this morning? It was a factual statement. Did I anywhere "suggest" that people shouldn't live wherever they chose to?? You need to take a chill pill.
@@chrisjenkins203 I agree, we also had a King Tide along with the storm surge, Been in naples Marco island since 86, Many hurricanes over the years, first time here like this because of the KING TIDE…. Hurricane Sandy was devastating because of same.. other hurricanes are mostly wind damage, So many fires that firefighters couldn’t get to because of badly flooded roads.. imagine the firemen not being able to help… sad. Imagine watching your buddys house burning down right in front of your eyes and you can’t do your job..😭💔
This is heartbreaking, my home State...
That house with the yacht 1:35 in is Iona point area. The little shack with all the boats is a marina and fuel station
Yup, "St Charles Harbour and Yacht Club" for the yacht. I did some browsing on Google Maps because I was curious. Looks like a nice house and the one just to the left of it in the video is/was for sale. The yacht looks like it's worth more than the house.
My son is one of probably 10 people 😱 in Fort Myers to have never lost power and still has calling service on his cell phone. He swears it was a CAT 6.
There will be many deaths. He thinks NONE of the Lee Hospitals may be functional. Lee County 911 was down and calls were routed to Collier County.
Recovery is going to be very long. Oh wow 😳
This reminds me being back in Miami when Andrew hit, it's like a war zone when these things do this.
I don't understand why the news crew at the studio has no communication with the pilot? The pilot is moving the camera all over the place. They don't know where he is!!
Having the pilot in direct communication with the station helps the viewer understand the enormous damage to SW Florida specifically!!
because it wasn't their helicopter...they were looking at the feed from anothet station.
Wow I never seen something like this.
I live in Massachusetts.
I know all of people have die.
My heart go out to you and yours at a time like this 💔 😔
Take care and always be careful.
Sandra S Boston mass.
Thankyou for your time today And have a wonderful day 😊
This is heart breaking to see having family and friends in Florida God bless all these towns and the people 🙏
how long will it take this area to recuperate and rebuild to pre-hurricane status?
Years. All of Estero Island is destroyed.
This is right next to it.
All Ft. Myers residential are under water.
Great footage, thanks.
The "big yacht" at the beginning of the video is in the St Charles Yacht Club harbor.
I hope they have been saving that 9 dollar fee for crossing the causeway up. I was shocked when they told me it was 6 dollars but since I was from out of state it was 9.
Pretty sure the money is used for upkeep
It is not $9 if you are from out-of-state. It's a $6 toll and they tack on a $3 "administration fee" if you don't have a physical transponder (EZPass, LeeWay, SunPass, etc), doesn't matter which state you're from.
@@Borg561 yeah I don't have one of those. I avoid toll roads here.
@@BigBadJohn I don't either, as we don't have any toll roads in my state. I was just trying to point out it's not an "out-of-state" price but a do you have a transponder or not price. And I only know this because I was looking earlier to see if residents somehow got a discounted rate or free pas.
Blessings from India !! Hope it slow down soon !!
I can't stand listening to her repeatedly cut off her co-host to add Nothing to what's being said. The guy speaking in the background seems to be the only person out of the three who knows what he's talking about.
...you would think that they would know/find out where the helicopter was at before they went live.
