This is one of those plays I will never forget. Come on. Crazy what he did. Ben Watson lives in my memory as one of the smartest and hardest-working players ever to play in all sports.
Damn that guy was a freak of an athlete. Watson literally appeared out of nowhere . I'll never forget watching that. I was sad the pats lost but that play made me happy
I remember seeing this live, as a pats fan, I knew we were gonna lose the game & everyone else that was watching the game was depressed about the pick six but I was so inspired by Watson's effort, it made the loss tolerable.
When it comes to hustle and heart. I put this right up there with Robert Meachem stealing an interception back from the Redskins in '09. Hope Ben retires a Saint.
Watson mad the greatest play Ive seen in NFL history. dont give anybody but yourself credit, buddy. Enjoy it. too bad you play for a cheating scumbags. But enjoy that play . greatest play ever. Thank you.
In the end, this Ben Watson play didn't matter. The Patriots would've taken control of that game had HOF'er Champ Bailey not come up with the iconic interception. Denver scored on the next play and went on to win by 2 TD's. That game was representative of Denver's domination of NE in big games. NE's 1-4 vs Broncos in the playoffs all time including 0-2 in Championship Games. Tom Brady is 1-3 all time vs Peyton Manning in Championship Games between Indy and Denver.
If Watson was any closer to the redzone, he wouldn't have caught up to Bailey. From where he was, he had to have run between 95 and 100 yards. He started sprinting at about the 10 yard line and tackled Bailey at the 1. For the sake of whole numbers, we'll say he was about 15.3333 yards from the sideline. A football field without redzones is 100 yards long by 53.33333 yards wide. sqrt(89^2 + ~38^2) = ~97 yards. He ran about as far as Champ Bailey did.
+james yarberry Watson is standing at the 8 when the INT happens. Also, no way he is 15 yards from the opposite sideline, maybe 12. Lastly, your equation assumes a straight line. Watson had to dodge the ref at midfield among other adjustments. He EASILY ran further than Bailey.

loved ben watson, all class
I will go to my deathbed believing that was a touchback
Same here. That ball went out if bounds.

Epic...Legendary play from Ben Watson...
Ben Watson was incredible on that play. It's a shame he had so much injury trouble in New England.
He back
I will never forget that, such an awesome effort and determination.
The highest-effort play of all time. MAD respect for Ben Watson.
Larry Allen and DK Metcalf and Ben watson....the best 3
@@kenbard6371 ooh, what plays are those other two referring to? I'd love to see them!
@@uRDM hustle plays
The best single player play ever.
nope....look up don beebe
@@kcgmail_account4098 not even close. Ben's is far better.
One of the best plasy in the NFL ever....
DK made a great play. This was a legendary hustle play.
This the football equivalent of being T-boned in an intersection.
Bailey wasn't even expecting that and Watson hit him like a damn Mac Truck. 😂👏👏
I have alot of respect for Watson because of that effort.
A perfect reflection of the man in real life.
And now he's back on the Patriots for his last ride
Champ Bailey is a Hall of Fame CB, but this is the play he is known for!
That was a touch back
Came back to watch this after that tackle by DK.
When it comes to hustle and heart. I put this right up there with Robert Meachem stealing an interception back from the Redskins in '09. Hope Ben retires a Saint.
ljessecusterl 3yrs later and it looks like he is
@@xTrthz yeah
I guess he is now then
Champ and the men responsible for blocking him decided that finishing plays is overrated. Meanwhile Watson had something else in mind.
Beautiful play
He looks younger now than he did then.
Impressive, even for a former 200 m track star with all that gear. Love how he blasted Bailey.
Hard to tell on the replay, but it seems like the ball is coming lose before his foot hits the pylon.
Glad he’s back!
Welcome back ✔
Looks like it could have almost been a touchback with Bailey fumbling the ball in the endzone.
makk333 I thought it did, but I am a Patriots diehard fan, so I'm openly biased 😉. Still a helluva play by #84
It should have been a touchback.
that was like a damn truck hitting him
KA ( B.O.O.M. ) !!!!!! Bailey went out to lunch @ the 1yrd line...
Finally an angle that shows balls does not go out through the end zone.
he got pummeled!!!!!!!!
84? The tight end? LMAO

Greatest play ever is a stretch, but best effort play certainly
Oh come on he wasn't responsible for the DeflateGate or the Spy thing or whatever. I give him total credit.
Great effort, ultimately in vein. Broncos score next play, and Broncos end up winning.
Isn't he a Saint now?
They are both Saints now
champ gets a 99yd int and the opposing player has the best play?
com' on man!
As usual dipshit Patriot fans forget to comment Champ was in coverage before having to run 99 yards.
Watson had a break after seeing Brady roll.
He gave up at the end. It should have been a TD but he quit early.
danger: WILDMAN7 that shouldn't have been a possibility to get a TD that was a touchback
That was all-out effort by Ben Watson...one of the smartest players to play the game. His IQ is somewhere near 180. Bailey did nothing wrong.
At the time Champ Bailey was one of the fastest guys in the NFL. And Ben Watson had to run basically an extra 20-25 yards to catch him.
Was it a touchback
Jonathan Garza At the time it happened. It wasn’t. But it was suppose to be a touchback. 🤣 Good news is we got Ben Watson back!
Was it a fn touch back or what lol did they have review?
brady busters
That's a touchback

+Shawn N quickest path between two points. You tell me, know it all.
Literally no one cares haha.
You did the math, though. So ... you cared.
great play, but Broncos would have won either way.
Raymond James should've been a touchback, wouldn't have won
whodatville
better blocking would be a better play by watson!
did the broncos win or patriots
+Garry Vang Broncos won 27-13. They actually scored on the next pay.
Broncos
Spidey 2002 play. sorry typo
Of course the broncos
How is Bailey's 100 yard interception not as good as Ben Watson running to make easy tackle?
much easier to run down the sidelines with a convoy of your fellow Pats than run across and down the field to catch the man. MUCH EASIER!
Not a touchback.
This the football equivalent of being T-boned in an intersection.
Bailey wasn't even expecting that and Watson hit him like a damn Mac Truck. 😂👏👏
Was it a touchback
no, the ball was placed on the 1 and the broncos scored the next play
1234444rbi this is why belichick wants end zone cameras
Yes it was a touchback. Bailey didn't control the ball when he broke the plain of the goal line. But it was incorrectly ruled a touchdown
+FashizzleNYYSux False.
It was ruled down at the 1 yard line idiot
