Terrific build. Excellent craftmanship. I had the same issue with my city in Texas, had to keep it off the house or I could not build because of the easment.
Wow, I want an illegal gambling patio, too! That's awesome. It must be huge to have a craps table and two blackjack tables. As well as a roulette wheel in the first part when you're panning around. 😂🤣😅 great way to pay for the patio cover.
The reason for the seperation issue is fire safety. Since the patio is attached to the house they probaly conisdering an extension hence it couldnt be close to the rear setback. BUt because you made it freestanding and its open structure you could theory enchroach. That gap counts as fire seperation between teh two structures.
Extremely awesome setup there buddy! However, I know you are very very proud of your product but bare in mind, these are seen everywhere around where I live(well the other side of town that is). But keep in mind, if this is what someone wnated in the "hood" or "transition" areas to 1-off the home, this for a fact is something you won't see. This is immediately $30,000 in personal home value. I'd pay for just because it's there. Love it man!
Thank you so much! It’s definitely a one of a kind patio cover. Materials are around 10-15k but you can save around 3k if you didn’t have to anchor the posts 6’ into the earth, and if you don’t use a clear span beam where a wall will go.
@@alejandrocarrizales1691 we typically install rebar when the concrete will not be exposed to the elements. If you can imaging a small crack in the Crete and water drips in and starts to rust the rebar. That will cause an even larger crack down the road. So we use fiber

I am going to start a project just like this what a great inspiration! Also what kind of wood or where did you get your wood to use for the posts please !
I was wondering how you built it so close to the fence. I have a 43ft by 12 ft patio and I could not go any further out . I have fans and recess lighting . Still need to finish it off by putting shiplap on the ceiling.
I am wondering about bracing. Because you set the posts in ground was bracing not needed? What does the steel do for the posts? Will they eventually rot?
Anything attached to the house abides by the house setbacks. However separate structures abides by a different set of setbacks and you can encroach pretty close to the back wall.
How much for something like this cost if you don’t I’d sharing ? I’m also having similar setback issues I would love to have a freestanding patio cover that looks just like a regular one .

how about a stem wall with some pier hole for the posts and not sink them in the ground , it totally cracks me up seeing some of these videos on utube . there is a right way then there is a u-tube way and before you say anything I've been a carpenter for 40 years and I have seen what works and what doesn't ! by the way your engineer is high , it doesn't make things right sometimes just because of an engineer most over build but it does show me that this one doesn't
@@jayralston2305 great idea, like I said above stuck to engineers design and the customers were not sure on exactly what they wanted the wall to be until the roof started to develop.
We don’t believe in rebar or any kind of steel in concrete that is exposed to the elements, unless it is a driveway with heavy equipment or vehicles, as when the concrete cracks and steel is exposed to the water it will cause cracking at a much more rapid rate. We preferably use fiber in concrete exposed to the elements

I agree but a 1” air gap won’t stop a fire from spreading, typically your fire gap between buildings is 5’-10’

If it’s not touching your house your rear setback will be much less, after inspections you can tie it back into your house.
Have u ever used roof risers like SkyLift to attach the rear of the cover to the house for more lift?
@@bulld9646 the problem with roof risers is that it doesn’t keep water from by the back wall
I am wondering about bracing. Because you set the posts in ground was bracing not needed? What does the steel do for the posts? Will they eventually rot?
It does not need bracing as the steel and wood in the concrete is strong enough. The steel prevents the wood from contacting the concrete
