Looks amazing Craig
Thanks Ben!
Honestly, the truck is the whole reason I watch the channel. Good to see it being worked on
Be aware of the ARP cam timing bolt kit, that washer will collapse causing the bolt to get loose and shear the cam pin plus barely covers the pin. I had one do it and have had 3 ive had to repair since with the same issue. I believe their design was to be used over Fords oem piece that was on the cam. If i could post a picture i still have the bent washer on my refrigerator magnet to never forget to not use it by itself.
Meziere stuff is hands down the best! They make amazing flex plates, starters, water pumps, and im sure tons of stuff I dont even know about! That water pump is a work of art inside im sure just like the rest of their products.
Great work, engine looks amazing!
Also another trick for getting paint off surfaces is to take a put a thin film of grease on the surface you don’t want painted then after you paint, you can take a rag and just wipe it off, works great and it’s easy.
Love the mallet beating the balancer on, you must want to make sure the thrust bearing is seated correctly you can get one at any auto parts store that have a loan-a-tool program if you don't want to buy one. That's what is called a hammer mechanic. Get the right tool for the job, don't use the bolt to pull it on.
Looking forward to hearing/seeing this engine run. A simple tip to align the intake manifold when setting it on a SBF is to use studs in the four corners. I aligns it perfectly, not destroying the China wall, and you can screw them out after you get the rest of the bolts started. Keep bringing the excellent content
Thanks Craig for painting the block....my anxiety level was way higher than it should have been. Great build and thanks for sharing the specs.
Nice build, those AFR heads and intake are sweet.
We put some AFR heads on my buddies old 79 Camaro with a lazy 350.
We also did some 9.1 comp pistons and a new cam and a few little odds and ends, but that 350 is a runner now
AFR Air Fuel Research: They are extremely underrated, they make quality that performs. 👍
Good to see it coming together. I would get the pointer set while the heads are off will make it easier to adjust the valvetrain after heads are on. Playdough works of course but I recommend a dial indicator. I ran 12.5 to one TRW domed pistons in my 428cj with heads shaved brought it to a compression ratio of 13.3 to 1. Running a Comp cams solid flat tappet camshaft with dual profile long duration that FEs love with .625/.612 lift with .310/.306, dialing in cam with wheel and dial indicator a must. Completed engine looks great, should run and sound great.
Craigh! Congrats!!! I follow from years ago, really enjoy 2 see your truck finished! Ford 2 the end🎉🎉🎉
Sorry 4 the english, im from México ❤
Love the truck , it’s really inspired me to put some time into my old f100
when we put the intake on we barely snug them ya got to remember its a big wedge you can put a lot of outwards pressure on block. Once again your making me want to get my 68 SWB F100 out
I just ordered the 55gpm mezeire pump for my 408 sbf with a 92mm turbo. Been waiting a month for it, can't wait
Man I don't know about anyone else but I'm ready to see another video of your truck ripping through the gears! Reminds me of my younger days👍
I was gonna say you had the lifters installed backwards, but you had it fixed in the next shot. Good catch.
Ran those Howard’s linked lifters in my 408w build. First time ever converting from flat tappet to a roller cam. Never looked back! Good quality parts!
Did you use sealer on the middle 3 studs for the bottom Head bolts? Why didn't you up-grade to Beehive Springs for better Valve control at higher RPM? Glad you fliped the Lifters around. break in 300 miles, dial the Carb in, do 10 to 15 heat cycles. before dyno. Should run Great !!
Luv the buy local ..agree.
I love those colors too. I'm doin my 5.0l 302 in Ford blue and Ford gray. I love the more stock kind of old school look they have together. It's not as flashy as custom paint and color schemes but still a very clean look. Great job!
i think the next step for this animal is a cage with bed bars, this truck is basically what i want with my 94 short bed single cab, nastruck all the way, keep it up craig
You are killing me every time you paint something with a rattle can, not the rattle can it's self. But the fact you don't have a trigger for it they are like $5 at harbor freight. Pops rite in the can and makes it so much easier to use... 😂. Love the work and attention your putting in this motor. Hope this one stays together longer.
I love the work put into these builds. Every effort put in.
Glad you turned those lifters around 👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet I've been waiting to see an engine go back together for the f100 can't wait to hear it run and see it drive your channel is starting to blow up keep making the awesome videos and don't forget about me when your famous lol
Thanks for the inspiration craig just dropped the heads for my 250 off. Unfortunately i boke my collar bone in a mx bike accident so I'll just watch u build ur truck 👍
Yeeessssss finally. One step closer to getting this truck back on the road. Awesome work to Craig and whoever helped out with this engine build
Piston to valve clearance - hyd lifters with no check spring might have pressed the lifter plunger down further giving false reading. Also curious how those hyd lifters handle 7.5k-8k rpm? No valve float? If not, then Howards makes a shift hot lifter.
I picked up a good used 302 and C-6 transmission for my '64.5 Mustang last week. I need to switch out the transmission for a C-4.
I’m glad your using quality parts on your engine, my pops told me years ago, don’t scrimp on your drive train.
Absolutely love seeing the F100 series platform live on it was a huge part of Americana someday it needs to look as well as it runs I'm a proud Ford owner and someday I'd like to add a F100 to my house of trucks currently I have my 3rd Bronco second generation with the Ranger XLT package with the 400 Cid keep up the work you do and I'll keep coming back for more
Tip on hard to mask areas, put grease or Vaseline on the surface you don't want to paint. After you paint and let it dry it will wipe right off.
Because of people like you I decided to take up another project truck. My friend sold me his blown up 1993 crew cab f350 dually diesel with a manual for 150 dollars and it looks like it needs severe engine work because it was ran severely lean earlier in life and burnt some valves and hurt a large amount of the engine. I’m gonna check it out but I might have to replace the 7.3 idi and if I do I’m gonna find a factory turbo one to swap in. I am almost done with my project ranger I did an engine swap on, it’s my new daily. But before I fix the dually, I’m rebuilding my first truck’s transmission because the front pump failed and won’t shift anymore and I miss my f150
You can actually get those silicone oil pan gaskets at O'reillys . That's where I got mine from for my 65. They had the cork ones as well for my truck, but I looked up a later model vehicle with the same engine and they had it listed, like mid 90s.
Dang wish I knew!
The channnel sure has come a long way, really looking forward to the dyno results. I am a numbers geek, I like to know what stuff makes. Keep up the killer work.
One thing I noticed, is you put the thermostat in on the wrong angle. The bleed valve should go to the top/12 o'clock position.
O-ringed housing ftw haha
Right out the shower after working, saw the video BAM I clicked no questions!
On the heads that blew up. I don't know if you sprayed crack dye penetrent to look for very fine cracks invisible to the eye?
It's amazing you don't put in the description what size motor this is what has been done to it just all the parts involved
Keep it up Craig! It was great meeting you at fab fords earlier this year!
i love engine builds and this one was really cool
Engine is looking good. F100 life
Looks awesome man! I’ve got a 69 f100 long bed waiting for me to build the 351 w roller for it and this motivates me!
You don't take a break on youtube vids you show the work 😊
Everything looks great. Love your channel a lot. I can’t wait to see what comes next. Once you get the F100 fully back together, I really think it would be awesome if you got in contact with Hoonigan and bring your truck. I know what you and your truck are capable of and I know you would have an absolute blast
Badass engine can't wait to hear the chop
Looking good craig,I wish it were in my 67 stang coupe.
those gold valve covers are dope ...... great video
Every nascar theme paint are light colors to find leaks quick
Keep it up bud been watching since the goofy highschool header video love the passion
I want to hear it should sound good ripping through the Gears
Craig when are you going to build a 5.8/ 351
Awesome look! Can't wait to watch and hear it run!
Good job Bulldog! I am a Bulldog also '90
So did you have 1 head torqued or both before you realized the lifters would not go in?
When is the Galaxy making a comeback Craig? I would love to see the Fairlane too! The truck is gonna be killer! Great job
The engine is jewelry, really nice work.
Damn that water pump is pretty trick I had no idea you could get one with a pulley
Looks good. Craig can't wait for engine start-up.
Bruh, you gotta put that cam gear roller bearing in and use countersunk bolts on the cam retainer plate. Please check it. Your cam gear is gonna be riding on those bolts the way you have it.
Craig what brand is that thermostat housing again? Im building my engine for my 88 hatch right now, waiting on my 331 scat stroker kit to arrive now, the machine shop guy said he needs those pistons in the kit to get the clearances correct, i had no idea about that i thought it just needed a .30 over bore, i bought Trickflows top end kit 170 cc twisted wedge and also bought a new holley systemax upper and lower, but i still have to get a better radiator and also thinking of getting a calibrated MAF for 24 lb injectors i already had that come with the car when i bought it
Are electric water pumps worth it? They are around the same or cheaper then a oem mechanical pump. But is there any real pointnto use one?
Def wanna use the balancer to center the timing cover / front main seal before clamping down the cover. Also, dampener installers are like $8 at harbor freight, dont ugga dugga the threads out of your crank... Not sure if you misspoke or meant to say to roasted a piston due to "too small of a carb", but definitely not the case. I think you will find the 750 to be sluggish compared to a better sized one. The QFT 680 on my 351 is a lot snappier than a 750DP, and the summit 500cfm even more so. The 500cfm was to test a theory and shut up the keyboard warriors. The 500 did fall off after 6k compared to the other two, no difference between the 680 and the 750 other than the 750 being a bit sluggish and a bog under 2500. Is a good looking engine to be sure and you definitely have the top end to spin it hard.
Glad that you seen that the lifters were backwards. I was wondering lol
Are those lifters hydraulic or solid? You may have mentioned it but I missed it.
I decided to go with trick flow 11r heads for my foxbody
@2:12 the piston is hitting the block
Awesomr job Craig, i just got my Chev runnin.
Sweet Mr. Craig!! good job. 🍻
Beeen waiting for this video! Love this! Religiously wait for you and Ben Kahan to upload
You didn't silicone the oil pan corners 😮
Haha, saw the link bars for the lifters put in wrong, then changed to on top, right !!
Got a question. I'm replacing the fuel pump in my Fox and I want to install a fuel pressure sensor so I can diagnose problems with the fuel system easier next time. I can't find anything online so I'll ask here. What do you recommend that I can mount the gauge where my radio used to be? I've been searching for fuel pressure sensors and trying to find a way to connect it to the fuel rail (Currently OEM) but I'm only finding info on sensors that newer vehicles already have, so no luck.
there is a old saying if you don't paint the block they last longer it's a old mechanics curse that is hardly spoken
Soo whats the valve lash zero lash plus a quarter
nice lockwire job! aviation mechanic approved!2
Aww dude i can't wait to see this thing fire!!
Can't wait to hear the beast run!😁
Will you be in Atlanta on the power tour?
Man you are killing me not getting this motor done lol. I want to hear it run
Great job on the motor! Keep up the great work young man.
What are you talking to Power Tour?
She is definitely going to be a strong running engine
you make it look so easy
Excited for the next video 🔥
LOOKING GOOD
Ive got the 220's on my 302, screams, pulls past 9000 rpms
hey Craig what happen with the galaxie's ??
Have you ran a speed masters top end kit for a 302?
Absolutely baller!
Fly cutting lowers compression
Sporting the JYD beard. Is it Mook approved?
Why didnt you put a main girdle system on the bottom end if your gonna turn 7500 to 8000 rpm
What? No mullet? Like the hippie beard!
