I learned a couple things also, beat the heck out of the bellhousing to get it on, if it doesn't start and is puking out the carb just keep pumping the gas and cranking it till it starts smoking wires. He is not as smart as he thinks. But he is still green, he will get it. That disaster of a startup is exactly why you don't try that while you are tired.

@@speedyg2577 Hey OG, no disrespect intended, you're a good dude. I know your type, just like some of my uncles, that had cars I'd give an arm for today. GTXs, Cougars, 409 Impalas etc. Rock on
First I'd like to say, that crew cab is proof that older is just as reliable. I'm a Chevy guy personally, but in that era, they were just Faithful old trucks, they don't build things to last 50 years anymore, and it shows. Everyone got lost in the planned obsolescence cycle. Second...... 2 swaps at once is quite Bold sir. y'all putting in the work. And ending up with some sweet street toys. I miss having car friends, but my son is getting old enough now(11) that he is actually starting to be an awesome helper. He called my mig welder a metal hot glue gun. He at least understands the concept. And has become quite accurate with a grinder. It's nice to see that there are still people slamming gears, and tuning carburetors. Gotta love when you can just stomp the gas while it's in gear and ignite the rear tires.
The 408 stroker I had in my 66 mustang in 94 had more torque than Hp. It was a beast. The kit was from jba and was said to be in the 530hp and 560tq below 6k rpm
Been watching you for a long time because my grandfather had a 71 and I always wanted one because he had to sell his. I have seen you come such a long way and you’ve inspired me to fix my 85. Keep up the amazing work, thanks.
Bruh, it’s so weird that me and you posted 302 videos in the same week. I just got my 306 going in my bullnose and it’s amazing! My videos are under this channel I’m commenting with. Sometime I’d like to bring it down for a truck meet!
Insane work. Nice one guys! The electrical fire reminds me of going to first start an engine build, popped inside to grab something and heard the engine cranking over! Usain Bolt wouldn't have beaten me back out to the to car. Found the interior full of smoke where a relay had shorted and engaged the starter! Thank god I hadnt left it in gear and I'd already put oil in it!
When I was 16 back in 97 i was able to get a 72 F100 off of one of my dads friends and that was one of the baddest trucks around my town. It had a 429 SCJ and C6 automatic and it was dyno’d at touch over 600 horsepower to the wheels. It was ugly as hell but I loved it. Single cab 2 wheel drive in an ugly light blue color with fake wood trim everywhere
Use a large pair of channel locks to work the transmission back together.. that’s what I use for big truck tranny’s. Works like a charm. And you can feel if things are binding
WOW, I learned something, when it doesn't start and coughs out the carb, just keep cranking on the bitch and pumping the piss out of it, instead of figuring out what's wrong. Even with the machinist/dyno operator in the house. Distributor not in correctly. Get rid of that noisy ass pump for an in tank one. They sound so bad. Great video for showing so many things not to do. Thanx
@@MaxGiganteum Well when it backfires its usually timing, but he was pumping the piss out of it every time he tried starting it so more than likely it was flooded to. Two things are probably going to happen, he will ditch it cuz he thinks it's a race truck or window the block.
Just heads up for your boy. In the future if you have an engine that keeps fouling the plugs, in the help section at any part store are what's called non fouling. They screw into the head and the plugs screw into them. They move the plugs out a little to keep them out of the excess oil or fuel. I love both of those trucks.
Ohhhh yeah the f100 is back ! Is there a trick to getting a 351w in a f100 I have a 1971 f100 2wd and the 351w I had the right cylinder head hit the firewall? Maybe it was mine it was out of 1990 police interceptor
Cam and intake change on the 351 based engine and it would be a MONSTER! It’s fairly mild being stroked and only making 420 hp. Can EASILY get 500 hp AND 500 ft lbs and still be a lot milder than the 302 based
I was watching them clean the engine bay and something occurred to me I have one of those wet vac carpet cleaners .which comes with hoses and brushes to clean upholstery, curtains etc Would it run with de greaser instead of carpet cleaner in it And would that give you a bristle brush that squirts de greaser and vacuums it away ?
Awesome on both builds! I have a 71 f250 same color as Ethan's! 460 and totally ratted out! Do you by chance have a line on a hood I could purchase? Live in Oregon!
F100 old glory headliners , coming soon to the speedshop merch store, you got this, shipstaion, manufactured in your village, send it hito. Thank you .
This one should last much longer lol. Builder seems like a good dude and takes pride in his work. If this one blows, I definitely think a 351w shouod be considered. You've swapped transmissions and lowered it already, so the spirit of being factory original is kind of gone anyway. I dont anyone would be upset if you change engines. No hate though I like 302s and plan to put one in my beater '93 thunderbird.
Amazing video man I love that truck!! do you think you are able to make it to holley Ford fest in Kentucky this year? I know you been everywhere just wondering,

I like Ethan. Seems like a good dude, definitely someone you’d want on the “team” if you needed help.
Me too besides the “no bottle” shirt lol. Nitrous makes everything better

SBF-torque and/or horse power, it's there for the building.
