As a fellow Aussie spinal cord injury club member and wheelchair user, you left out one of MY favourite things - NEVER being without a seat!! I think I should look into the mentoring program and see if we have one in Sydney.
I've been in my chair 54 years now. Ive been married 31 yrs and we have 4 adult children. Your comment about not wearing out your shoes made me chuckle as I wore the same sneakers through out the whole of highschool - 5 yrs lol and they still looked like new 😅
You are an extraordinary person. I love motorcycles but will never again own one because I don’t take the ability to walk for granted. I do face some health challenges but they are insignificant compared to the challenges that you have overcome. You inspire me.
Thank you so much for your kind words! If you are still interested in motorbikes there are adaptive ways to alter the motorbike so it suits you but I don’t know much about it.
BWAH! You had to make mention of motorcycles! I miss my flat 6 bagger, a slightly stripped Honda Goldwing. My bloody Brother sold it, as yes, I can no longer walk 😓.
I can't walk but i dont qualify for a wheelchair and we cant afford to buy it ourselves but i really enjoy watching other disabled people having lots of freedom in their wheelchairs, I hope the world becomes more accessible so I can join in on the fun but until then I hope you have enough fun for people who cant.
@@EmQuattrocchi well, you are on the right path! I love to make music but I struggle with videos. The endless hours of editing do my head in, lol. I wish you luck in your career :)
I am grateful I had the opportunity to migrate to Melbourne from a 3rd world country. The achievements have been numerous or myself and my daughters. When I visit family overseas, I like it, but… this is home now. 🇦🇺 Thanks for sharing your positive attitude about being in a wheelchair. 👍🏼👍🏼
Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi! Go girl! ( Even if you are in Melbourne ). I am sat in wheelchair, and the best thing I can think of, is when I'm knackered, and in a crowded environment, I can ask my carer Brother, Chris, to push me, and he does. That is when I get even, as I used to be the breadwinner .
Awww, you seem so sweet!! And honestly? That cake looks pretty fab. I'd say another positive about being in a wheelchair (if you're on the taller side) would be not having to duck under doorframes LOL. Aroha nui from NZ 💙 Edit: And you're so right, having an attitude of gratitude can really help you recontextualise your circumstances and find the silver lining.
When i started watching your vid i felt a deep sadness for you but when you said I'm in it for the parking. OMG i just lost it with laughter you caught me totally by surprise. You go girl. your awesome
hey there, broke my back 38 yrs ago and ended up with a bracheal plexus injury as well on my left arm. Life goes on and its up to the individual to how well they will bounce back. Life has been not to bad but now im older im slowing down but still live on my own. All in all life is still shit hot!
Hi Em, i came across your video, i think you must be positive because there are so many negative people out there. I was also involved in a car accident, i sustained many physical injuries and many psychological injuries. All that coupled with a broken neck, vertebrae 4 and 5. But through hard work and self belief I survived and now living a lonely life. My lovely wife died in the accident. I did not get any help from anyone, and that is fine because I was driving the car. Anyway keep up the positive thoughts and actions, good luck to you .
Thank you so much for watching my video. I’m so sorry about your wife and hope you find someone or some good friends to live life with. Glad to hear you survived the bad accident as well!
@@EmQuattrocchi thanks Em I don't need friends. I am a good cook, I can do all the house work and I can drive. I have my dog which is great, I can argue with him and win the argument. 😆 🤣 Thankyou for your thoughts on my late wife. I did survive but I am a bit bitter at people because they don't respect what they have got and demand more rather than doing something about it and blaming others for their failures.
Hi Emily . I am so impressed by your positive attitude. You are an amazing and beautiful breath of fresh air . As a fellow Pollyanna, it was a joy to watch your vid. And as an optometrist I love your surname.
What am I thankful for? I am just recovering from an injury, and a temporary disability. I am thankful that it is temporary, and for the insights it's given me.
I actually don't take advantage of the parking. I'm with search and rescue and have search and rescue plates. I'm also into fitness and feel the exercise will do me good. The people in my neighbourhood and surrounding city are incrediby ignorant and restaurant owners and store owners refuse to even put in accessibility ramps (Yarmouth, NS, Canada). They have blocks of wood and that's it. It's pretty sad. So for this reason, I often don't park in the handicapped spaces because I feel those who need it more than me, can have them. I'm into fitness...so don't mind the extra exercise. I hope your cake was super yummy. I often put a coffee glaze on chocolate cakes. Extra eggs make it fluffier...just a cooking tip.
I've always had so many questions for someone who is paralyzed but with the way people are these days, i just don't think i'll ever know unless it happens to me...
