I met Mark with my 12 year old son years ago. He was so down to earth. My son still talks about that day. He plays guitar because he was such a fan of Mark. We went and saw Lamb of a God 6 months later and the band remembered my son, gave him a signed set list, picks and all the members came over and hugged and shook his hand. They didn’t have to do that but that day they made 2 fans for life.
Hell ya all the musicains I met was like that the only one who wasn't was Kerry king he was kinda of a douchebag but hell he probably seen 1000 kids that day so I never held it against him
Mark Morton really seems like a solid dude. He’s a super star, but you’d never know it. Just a humble metal head. That happens to be a guitarist in one of the greatest metal bands of all time🤘🏽😁🤘🏽
Tyler Smith lol. He is definitely a superstar. Love him or hate him but everybody has at least heard of lamb of god whether they listen to metal or not.
It's insane to hear Mark Morton say he doesnt really think about music Theory or anything when he writes riffs. "I just play till something sounds good" I always just assumed he put WAAAAAY more effort and technical skills into writing such tastes fuckin riffs.
I think a little bit of music theory can help to improvise and create music. but if you just think about following the rules, you can't express yourself directly.
As for me, it was pretty obvious. I haven't listened to Lamb of God much, but their music is basically a bunch of groovy rhythms decorated by evil notes. They clearly don't pay attention to chords and melodies. After all, nearly 90% of rock and metal musicians are self-taught, so the only thing that guides them in creating music is their ears.
I saw Mark Morton at a grocery store in Williamsburg yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
First of all its a style , its not good or bad, its a style so why comment on it if you don't like it. Just ignore it if you don't like it ! So im gonna go cruise all the brittany spears channels and waste my time saying i hate this ,this sucks. WTF
I've seen Lamb of God 3 times and its pretty remarkable how tight Mark and Willie are live. These guys are always in the pocket like they have a built in metronome in their heads. Amazing players and they compliment each other so well.
Hearing Mark say he never really learned chords or music theory makes me feel less stressed about learning them or not. I am glad I learned to read tab though.
Even with this Guitar that has old strings and a bit out of tune his playing is so clean. Goes to show that he ain't just Metal guitarist but an actual guitarist. Definitely one of the best Metal guitar players ever

first a video of him saying what his favorite LOG riffs are without clipping them into the video 😭 now a video of him without an electric guitar 😭 I’m a simple man, is it too much to ask for these things??
How are more people not influenced by Judas Priest? I was 5 in 1990 stole the tape from my dad and I played it through my Fischer Price Radio. My Dad didn’t even care I took the tape he was proud. To this day, Beyond the Realms I’d death is still one of my favorite songs.
I was hoping he was going to play the rift from ghost walking! Love this dude and love lamb of God. I wish I would have listened to them way before I did.
I just checked out moontooth and theyve changed my life, i think. Their guitarist is unbeleivable and its just overall very nice music 👍🤘 i love you mark morton, i love you fellow humans
playing rock/punk riffs and he is on an acoustic , why not have him use an electric since he is mostly playing power chords...lol. The only parts that sound good on the acoustic are when he is finger picking

Doesnt seem that chill when him and Randy are knocking the shit out of eachother in the Killadelphia DVD

It was the same with neil peart, he never had anything in mind, he would just drum then worked out what did and didnt work for the track.
If you over think it, it will be boring
I think a little bit of music theory can help to improvise and create music. but if you just think about following the rules, you can't express yourself directly.
Sounds like me too with music , And ironically kinda look little him. But would be cool to shoot the shit , Play guitar and drink beer .

I am 30 now and Mark has been my idol since I was 14. He has a style that metal needed. That bluesy soul type sound.
I saw mark smoking a cigarette outside MSG it was right before his set. It was pretty legendary
It's normal. \m/😊
Damn I thought he only smoked cigars

Jeff Johnson WHAT? no way this man is a giant ass kid
Bobby Martin same exact story is floating around about Devin Townsend . It’s just a funny story.
i LOVE the acoustic ghost walking intro, ill restart the song 5-6 times every time just for that riff.
Whose arm is higher:
Mark Morton when he plays his acoustic or Mike Mangini when he hits his cymbals???.....
LOL
When you're a metal head but go to your buddy's house that only has an acoustic..."I'll make it work."
When metal heads play acoustic just looks like electric guitar unplugged with same power chords
@Invert Your Cross KG is the boss for sure

I was inspired by Lil Waynes playing.

Mark. Bad ass playing the guitar. Awesome
Huge respect to Mark Morton and LOG. You wouldnt think he plays Ruin, Walk With Me In Hell, 11th Hour etc... Far from the stereotype imo.

Yes Mark, Ghost Walking is my favorite too
He looks like Bob Seger in the 70's.
Bob Seger is a cool cat
Yes he does.
Lamb of god needs to get my guitar fretboard. So many new levels to power cord riffs with open note pulloffs
This is what metal is all about.

ghost walking seems like an impossible riff to play and he wrote it anyway. love that riff
3:30 I noticed that too. You can tell he’s uncomfortable playing an acoustic guitar all hunched up like that
Last riff was crazy!

Nice posture with the neck diving
Cool dude! LOG has roots here in Wilmington NC!
That acoustic sounds like a broom dipped in horse dung.

He's playing it like an electric that's why.

What song in the end?
What riff on the titres?
