Props for randy staying heavily in touch with his punk rock roots. I myself don’t really like punk but it’s really important to remember where you come from in musical terms 🤘
As a punk rocker, Lamb of god has always been one of my favorite metal bands because of the nature of their songs, and it makes sense cause Randy was/is a punk. P.S. Many punk rockers, myself included, do like a decent amount of metal (usually thrash metal, though, these days it seems like black metal is one a lot of 'em like, but whateva) and every punk always has atleast one metal band that is near and dear in their heart. We just obviously prefer punk music and to a greater extent like the lifestyle and culture. A decent amount of punk bands have obvious influnces from metal bands, and a lot of really good punk bands have said metal influences. Anyway, don't really know where this comment is coming from or going to but figured I'd still say something lolz. Have a great day.
As a punk rocker I can vouche that a lot of punks are dumbass idiots, I can vouche a very high number of them are probably posers who don't have any idea what they're actually talking about and won't be punk for very long, and some are actually legit mentally ill. But I can also vouche that there is also a decent percentage of punk rockers that are very intelligent, very well spoken individuals. You just need to get to know them, as most punks have social issues and rough exteriors.

I was mildly inrigued when my friend showed me New American Gospel in high school, but I wasn't really hooked until I later saw the video for Ruin on headbangers ball and then that same month heard 11th hour on the Freddy Vs. Jason soundtrack. That's when I became so hooked on what seemed like a genius style that I had to get As The Palaces Burn. That album, start to finish, is one of my top 3 to this day. Ashes Of The Wake was my soundtrack while I was joining the Army, which probably reveals my compartmentaling mind a bit since I agreed with Randy's views on principle, but was still volunteering to join the Iraq war... on principle. I bought the Burn The Priest album at an FYE with a sticker that said "File under 'Lamb Of God'," and only liked one song. I bought NAG around the same time and loved the structure of one song, but couldn't stand the coffee can drums and Randy's unintelligible and high pitched vocals on most of the songs. Palaces and Ashes are LOG to me. I don't dislike their new stuff, it's just not as emotionally relevant to me because of when, how, and why I found and loved those albums the way that I did and still do. And since I own those albums, I can enjoy them whenever I want without demanding that the band release new music that sounds like their old stuff. Because they have their end of what they do, and I have our end of what they do. I'm lucky enough not to have to live it, so I can stay happily stuck in the past. They can't, or else they'd become another Megadeth. 🤷🏼♂️

As a punk rocker I can vouche that a lot punks like metal also, we just prefer punk music, but also the punk lifestyle, and culture. Lots of modern punk bands have very obvious metal influences in their music. So as a punk myself, I can see how this could happen.

Graham, here in Indiana we prefer to call them modular palaces. Close though!
I've seen these guys 5 times. They're always on top of their game. And I love that he hates Megadeth and loves Bad Brains.
Randy seems super chilled out
seems like a guy you like in general but hate in person
I totally saw Gruhamed at the Mastodon show in Central Park a couple of weeks ago.
His head looks too big for his body. That's weird. Fun segment though.
Sexpistols
Yes
Megadeth
NO!
FUCK NO!
Me: lol
Ocean Sage in a Metal band shuts down Megadeth FUCK No
Thanks for the shout out to Indiana.
he mowed my brothers yard and drank beer up n Louisville a few years ago
"COBHC" tattooed on randy's arm at 2:57
good catch! didn't know he was a fan of COB. rip alexi
I loved the raw quality of New American Gospel. I think it sounds sick af!! Its what turned me on to LOG
I got to see Lamb of God AND Gwar together. Sick show, ears bled for 2 days.
Me too, 'sounds of the underground 'brought gwar & L o G (& opeth, unearth, devildriver, chamaira, strapping young lad, terror, every time I die, ,) to my town.a total kick ass show, even though it was in a crappy stadium for acoustics...
I just saw lamb of god with slayer and amon amarth was fucking awesome
I am especially for this segment
I wanna ask Randy why if he loves punk rock and says hes not a metalhead, what makes him do the awesome metal vocals he does. Im very greatful, just curious.
I think he said a couple of times that his growling started out as a joke, but people liked it so he rolled with it
As a punk rocker I can vouche that a lot punks like metal also, we just prefer punk music, but also the punk lifestyle, and culture. Lots of modern punk bands have very obvious metal influences in their music. So as a punk myself, I can see how this could happen.
Loudwire please try to make one of these with Corey Taylor!
It would be a fantastic one
gematria696 YES. GOD YES
YES THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN
Fuck yeah!!
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN
They've done two by now👍
Randy seems nutty as a fruit cake but he's still one of the most bad ass screamers alive.
I love how nervous the interviewer is :)
LOL "I hope one of those dudes doesn't sneeze..."
HAHAHAH OMF.
I can't tell if I like him a whole lot... or if i don't like him much at all. Interesting character.
It’s so weird to see someone with harsher vocals talk like he’s stoned.
LOL, for having a fucking BEAST of a death metal voice. Randy's casual voice is relatively high pitched. Very interesting.
“Sex Pistols” “YES!” “Megadeth” “NO”
I drank a couple beers with him and a buddy of his in 2004. At Pikes Place market in Seattle. We chilled for like an hour and he was just like a normal dude, was funny and it was just a cool experience. His buddy even came up to me at the show that night and was was just shootin' the shit again... Good times man!
People don’t realize that you can’t grasp someone’s entire worldview by just watching a 12 minute clip
His concert photography is incredible.
Hugh Laurie probably used Randy as a point of reference for his House MD voice
I met him in Atlantic City in 2013 he had the same T-shirt on :D
Graham: "As a teenager, you looked up to the Sex Pistols"
Randy: "Yes"
Graham: "Megadeath"
Randy: "No. Fuck no"
Best scene!
7:50 as the Palaces Burn is a reference to stuff burning buring
Damn lets give randy a round of applause
It's funny cause they're touring with Megadeth this year!
The rest of the band is not allowed in the studio when vocals are being recorded. I love that.
Great interview, unique interaction between the two of you. I laughed out loud when he mentioned there were “no palaces” in Indiana😆
Can we pleaseeeeee have more of Blythe!!
his voice is deep even when he talks normal
Met randy and jamie josta the day after one of my bdays was one of the best days of my life
I was the one writing "Megadeth" and "Gwar". No joke. This is hella fun
Saw them open for metallica a few years ago... hell of a show
The Offspring reference made me freak out!
I don't know what it is about Randy but I've always been strangely fascinated by him? His appearance, voice, mannerisms. So strange, yet so interesting to me. Quite the character 😂
