My man, you got me with the sports references! Especially the Rooney reference, good stuff mate. It's important for these tutorial videos to have somebody speaking! I hate the ones with no sound that move super fast. I am gonna watch the rest of your videos, thanks!
Hi Anthony , I am learning the Tableau while I am following the videos and have seen ur post vide . it was very good stuff . requested you to post bins related videos. it would be help for me
Hi Thanks for a great video. If I choose category in Dimension1 Header and category should not appear in dimension 2 and dimension 3 . Is there a way to do this tableau? Please let me know
Thanks, Anthony ---just revisited this video in the context of some parameter related work that I had - so, a quick question....Is it possible to combine KPIs to produce trend lines within a parameter? For example, say that my parameters are Profit / Sales / Discount etc. - Currently, the user can choose any one of these and the viz comes to life - what if I wanted to show Profit & Sales together as a single dropdown parameter? So, instead of showing KPI 1 and 2 separately, I'd like to show KPI 1 & 2 together - as a trend chart, not for tables. Let's assume all units for the KPIs are the same. Would love to see a video on this. Gracias!
How might you add dynamic filters on the selected measure above the selected dimension 1 (e.g., include only categories in the central region (or by state if selected) with more than 20K in sales (or profit, if selected))
Hello Anthony,Many thanks for this excellent and very clear video! I had a question, is it possible to modify / edit data in Tableau? For example in the table you showed, we want to overwrite a value which is not a calculation but an individual figure. Or even if it comes as a result of a calculation, I want to manipulate the result, so that this generates an output enhanced with that modification. Thanks in advance!Alejandra
Anthony, this is a great video, thanks for putting it together. Similar to what you explained how to add dynamic measure label, is there a way to give dynamic dimension label using parameter. For example if 'Category' is selected the label for the first column will be 'Category' instead of 'Dimension 1 Header' etc. If you could help with this solution that will be great. Thanks in advance.
Nice Stuff. Can we change the table headers (labels) for "Dimension 1 Header", "Dimension 2 Header" and "Dimension 3 Header" on basis of the dropdown selected.
Hi Anthony, This video is amazing. Just wanted to know, while selecting N/A, we still see blank column (kinda placeholder). Is there any way that can be hidden when N/A is selected. Appreciate if you can reply :)
You might want to create hierarchies and use the drill up and down features. Not sure how to automate them though so it opens/closes when field is N/A. You just have to drill to the appropriate level.
@@ltraind3509 We pass the different column names to the parameters and hence sometime there doesn't exist any hierarchy in the data. Moreover, I tried doing this but while creating calculated field, it accepts only one field and ignores the hierarchy. So basically I'm not able to hide the column placeholder when the user selects N/A
Abhishek, you can use the swapping sheets mechanism to achieve this functionality. Create a duplicate sheet of first one with respective column not present and when you select the 'N/A' for that header swap the respective sheet accordingly. I have used this mechanism in my project and it worked perfectly. There are multiple videos how to swap the sheets. (ruclips.net/video/1xIe-ANIMcE/видео.html)
Thanks Chandrakant, As I have created 4 such dimensions, 2 horizontal, 2 vertical and each has same number of fields to be chosen from along with N/A, how many copies would I be needed to achieve swapping. Whenever user selects N/A, he moves up in terms of the granularity. This is working well with only one issue, how to hide the placeholder for N/A selection.
I was also looking for a possibility to resize the column width to zero when N/A is selected. Essentially, this can happen if the cell size automatically gets adjusted according to the data values present in that column
Thanks for the videos. They are helping a lot. Did you ever look into getting the table header to "Dim1", "Dim2" ect. to change as well? I found two sources where they do something similar but not this exactly. Axis on plots: kb.tableau.com/articles/issue/dynamic-axis-titles Custom column headers: kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/creating-dynamic-column-headers. The second one looks like it might work, but there should be an easier way to do that.
this is tremendous! thank you Anthony for your massive work on your channel! you are legendary!
Hi, I just want to say thank you! After 3 Nights of no sleep, you finally give me the hint I needed!
Glad you found what you needed, thanks for the comment.

I'm glad you got the Rooney reference! I never got to see him at Manchester but I saw him play here in ATL against Atlanta United in the MLS.
Nice video!
Can I ask similar question Anthony?
Once again great video im using theses concept in my project thanks!

Hello Anthony, really informative videos. Really appreciate what you're doing for those of us learning Tableau. Kudos to you my friend.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching
Good stuff! Thanks a bunch for sharing this and doing so with clear and simple explanations.
Thanks Justin! Glad you found the information useful.

Hello, how to select multiple values in that drop down menu? if i select customer name and segment that should be in the view

Very well ...this type of dimession and measure any parameter....
Thank you for this!
What if I have more variables than 3? Is there any easy way to nested this parameter?
Make as many calculated fields as you need; within reason.

Great video! Anyway you can put more examples of tableau with parameters and Action filters.?

Cool! Thank you for the tips!
That was a neat trick

ok that's super cool
Nice! My teammate have this feature in his report and I'm wondering how did he do it. Hahaha
nice
Please create the video show hide filter sheet
I have a show/hide container video. Please check the channel.
Those parameters analogies about football just went over my head. LMAO.

LD Did you find answer to get dynamic value for the dimension headers? I am also looking for the same solution.
@@chandrakantdharme8161 Hi, I'm looking for the same solution for this question. Did you find an alternative?
