This is what a cover should be - recognisable as the original song, but different in imprtant ways so that you think about the music again. Sheer genius by one of the great bands.
I should think McCartney would doff his cap to the sheer brilliance of this version. Was lucky enough to see BC live many times from mid 80s through to this tour. Absolute Magnificence !! RIP Stuart, a much missed man.
This is amazing they do this so so much better than the beetles version. What a genius staurt was a bloody fantastic singer songwriter the best ever band l saw in my life. X
this make s me sad and happy sad for the loss of stuart , but happy that i was able to share, in the music , and joy of big country, they will live on in history as being one of the best ever live bands, they needed no gimmiics
One of the best Beatles covers ever, that gets better every time I hear it. Big Country are still a brilliant band...I also had the absolute privilege of seeing Big Country live when Stuart was still with us.
Only the great Stuart Adamson could cover this song and do it justice. Incredibly well done. RIP Stuart... I wish I could have known you, because I almost feel as if I did.
Underrated by whom? This " Underrated " term people use is ridiculous! I like big country since the 80s, and you obviously do to.....the word is underappreciated, not Underrated
I Love the way Stuart has made this song his own.I never liked it when the Beatles done it, but now I listen to it often.Stuart was a brilliant musician and it breaks my heart he is gone.R.I.P Sweet Stuart.
HOLY SHT. This is the most exciting cover of Eleanor Rigby. They're playing it like it's a thriller movie and not a song. Need to pat my forehead dry with this one. Whew.
Don't always like Beatles covers but this is brilliant.Looking forward to Big Countrys30th Anniversary tour in Liverpool next week.R.I.P Stuart Adamson.
I commented on how hard a cover is to "equal or exceed" on another BC video. Here again, I find an attempt by BC on an even bigger song than, "Don't Fear The Reaper" by BOC. I have to say that this is an "Equal" Maybe squeaking by a superior note. Their is a mindfully excellent execution of an original composition done with a "choice" selection of musicians and instrumental choice. The result is as haunting as the original while being even more nuanced. BRAVO!
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice In the church where a wedding has been Lives in a dream waits at the window wearing the face That she keeps in a jar by the door, who is it for? All the lonely people Where do they all come from? All the lonely people Where do they all belong? Ah, look at all the lonely people Ah, look at all the lonely people Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon That no one will hear, no one comes near Look at him working donning his socks in the night While there's nobody there, what does he care? All the lonely people Where do they all come from? All the lonely people Where do they all belong? Ah, look at all the lonely people Ah, look at all the lonely people Eleanor Rigby died in the church And was buried along with her name, nobody came Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands As he walks from the grave, no one was saved All the lonely people Where do they all come from? All the lonely people Where do they all belong? Ah, look at all the lonely people Ah, look at all the lonely people Ah, look at all the lonely people Ah, look at all the lonely people (Incomprehensible)
stuart adamson was a 1 of,the guitar playing and the voice, not many folk could cover this song and imo do it better than the beatles, there other cover of black sabaths paranoid goes to show how much of a talent stuart was
You won't hear a better Beatles cover anywhere. God bless your soul, Stuart Adamson. It was a pleasure to have met this hugely talented man.
This is what a cover should be - recognisable as the original song, but different in imprtant ways so that you think about the music again. Sheer genius by one of the great bands.
Hell yes!!
My sister just introduced me to this. And I CANNOT stop replaying it. Incredible cover.

I should think McCartney would doff his cap to the sheer brilliance of this version.

I have played this song so many times over the years. Each time, it is as awesome as the first time I played it.
Only Big Country could cover this song this well. I too rarely like covers of Beatles songs, but this is really, really good!
Stunning rendition of the classic song.
from the crossing to the final fling, the best live band I've ever seen, especially at the Barras.
gareth e me as well
This is absolute perfection. It blows me away every time I hear it.

Best Beatles cover ever, Period.

+Adriaan Renkema I love a cover that adds something to the song.
Adriaan Renkema exactly my friend 😍
You got it. This is a really high-impact version. The original is a classic, but in my opinion, this is better.
Even beats the great Zoot
Underrated by whom? This " Underrated " term people use is ridiculous! I like big country since the 80s, and you obviously do to.....the word is underappreciated, not Underrated
It's the ethnic edge that does it for me - and so perfectly executed.
What CLASS and WHAT a great arrangement !
The best cover ever of this song..Stuart & Big Country were more than versatile, that's clear!!
This is the best ever 👍🏻
Gino Ciancio on bongos, absolute gentleman and one hell of a musician

HOLY SHT. This is the most exciting cover of Eleanor Rigby. They're playing it like it's a thriller movie and not a song. Need to pat my forehead dry with this one. Whew.

We will never know why Stuart Adamson couldn't take his own best advice and "stayed alive".
A talented troubled soul finds peace...

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice
In the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream waits at the window wearing the face
That she keeps in a jar by the door, who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon
That no one will hear, no one comes near
Look at him working donning his socks in the night
While there's nobody there, what does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby died in the church
And was buried along with her name, nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands
As he walks from the grave, no one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
(Incomprehensible)
