It's so frustrating that a car accident had to happen to Tom when there are so many jerks out there who are perfectly healthy. If only we could turn back time and ensure Tom's safety and health. I sincerely hope he gets better; it might be naive to expect he'll ever be back to 100% but a man this great who has brought so much happiness to others does not deserve to suffer.
The best part of this video (beside the awesome song itself) is that you can tell this is the first time he's ever heard this song and it doesn't take long for him to really like it. Good on this dude. I hope nothing but the best for him.
Wow!! Such phenomenal initial first-time performance by Tom! I haven’t come across his video game music covers in the past but now just seeing these videos. I’m sad to hear about his serious injuries. I’ll be praying for his health to come back supernaturally full force. I have faith he’ll be back someday.
Tom, your renditions of these pieces transport me to a simpler time and fill me with such joy. I can only hope these now do the same for you. Best wishes, and thanks for everything you've given us.
This is arguably my favorite cover that he's done thus far, and it greatly saddens me to hear what has happened to him to the point where I'm admittedly welling up just typing this. Hoping to hear of a recovery soon...
Man this guy's playing never gets old, I love watching and listening to his playing back when i were at high school 6 years ago, now I'm graduating from college yet his sight reading performance always put an easy and happy feeling on my heart, gotta love this guy
im not sure when RUclips upscaled this into 1080p60, but my Lord, this really does give Tom a whole new dimension in amazing. I wish nothing but the best for him and his recovery.
Keeper1st You properly know, but there are a few transcriptions out there already. Eg. www.videogamepianist.com/sheetmusic/banjo-kazooie_intro.pdf. However, I think it is necessary to make quite a lot of changes and corrections, so it might be essayer just to start from scratch. (You should also ask Tom politely to make a second play through of the Mario Theme as a tango. His version is one of the best on RUclips, despite the few mistakes.)
Jesper Kragh Lots of transcriptions out there aren't really suited for a breezy sight-read. Ron's been showing me all these little things that help make the music easier to read (and formal)! Are you asking for the main theme when you start Banjo-Kazooie? Or Spiral Mountain? I'm itching to make an arrangement of Spiral Mountain, but I might do the main theme too!
wheelmanmitch Yeah, nearly every existing game-music transcription I find is decipherable, but not readable. I started an arrangement of Spiral Mountain a few years ago, but was adding a lot to it, making the right hand mimic the banjo while still playing the melody as well. It'd probably be too overwhelming for most people, and those who can play it like that (like Tom) would anyway, so I need to go back and just make a simpler score.
Jesper Kragh As for the Mario Theme, Martin Spitznagel's version is rather good too, and oft-overlooked even though it's on my channel: ruclips.net/video/SJSoJlQRR6s/видео.html
Keeper1st has said in the past that license/trademark problems would be tough. But seeing how many fan arrangements of video game music are sold on iTunes, hopefully they can figure it out!

Ahmad Nieves That would defeat their purpose. These are done because the music is ragtime, just like the rest of the music-related videos I post. It doesn't matter where the music comes from; it's all good.
well yes you have a point. I didnt mean anything bad by what I said. I just wish there were more vids, i found your channel a couple years ago and I always keep my fingers crossed for a new videogame sight read, although this channel opened my eyes to the beauty of ragtime, also making me realize ive heard it in more places than i thought.
To call this sight reading is like saying a nasa engineer is just "playing with a calculator" The sheet music doesn't have any of the flourishes, changing styles in repeated melodies, or the absolutely thundering left hand going back and forth. He sees a few simple notes and in less than the blink of an eye, hes got an incredible partly improvised arrangement that I'm positive nobody else could repeat by sight reading it
+steev927 Well, he does have less hair than he did eight years ago... but the same is true for me of course (I'm almost exactly one year older than he is, though I have kept more of my hair so far!).
Why do I love when Ragtime pieces get all small, high pitched, and quiet, with the left hand just bouncing in place while the right hand stays close and conservative? Why is that so endearing and fun?
I have been going through all of Tom's videos and I have to say he is such a talent and is so inspiring as a beginner pianist. Just seeing him play these songs you can see how much fun he has doing it. I only wish there was something I could do to help him in his current situation, but I at least hope he makes it through to be able to use his great skills again. Absolutely wonderful playing as always. I wish I had the resources to hire Tom to record a set of studio quality renditions for an album. Exactly right.
That he learned piano before books, or that you can do it with lots of practice?
Oh wait. I looked it up. Wow...
