June 6 2018. These lyrics just came to me so easy because I'm a massive Def Leppard fan and miss Steve Clark.
Steve Clark had that "it" factor. That unteachable method of playing and writing riffs. His partnership with Phil Collen was absolutely perfect for the band and they made each other better. Steve could play something really cool and Phil could then expand on that and but the finishing touches on it to make the perfect song. The guitars in "Gods of War" are a great example of that collaboration. It's too bad that Steve could not get clean like Phil did back then.
Craig that's because he suffered from more then addiction. Have you ever noticed that some of the best artist's usually suffer from some kinda mental disorder and its usually depression and to keep others from noticing that's where the drugs come into play leading to addiction and trying to quit a drug addiction is a fight itself but can be done with a strong frame of mind and positive attitude but ya throw depression in on it and its dam near impossible. I've seen them many times at many ages, but I'm SOOOOO grateful I got to see them on this tour at the height of their awesomeness. Saw them at my college in Pullman WA that tour and it was AMAZING!
Love Joe's voice.. even now..but As much as they toured and as high as he sang, he did a great job of holding on to his voice.. they really were hitting the touring, road life scene by 78 and this is 88.. and it lasted well into the later 90's ..
@@josephcebelinski2070 He does in this clip, but the entire "In the round, In your face" was pretty heavily overdubbed. There is a raw soundboard of February 12, 1988 out there, and he isn't as spot on with notes as this video makes it seem like he was. He actually screws up Hysteria in one place by going back into a verse when it was time to end the song, but makes up for it by nailing Heartbreak, probably the toughest song in the setlist.
During that tour there was a lot of talk and haters about Def Leppard not being the same band Rickl Allen loosing his right arm ( He's right handed by the way) he can't hit all the notes, he's too slow on the set, they need another drummer, an array[] of list... I went to that concert in Fort Lauderdale, Florida ( I was 14 years old). They stole the night, seized the moment, left all critics silent. Till now 31 years later. And Fact The Greatest Live and Rock band Alive in Concert! Better to Burn Out, Than Fade Away...!
This was a pretty pivotal show in the band's history--Hysteria had sold well at that point, but not well enough to make back the costs of recording the album. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" came out later in the spring, using footage from this concert in the video, and album sales went utterly ballistic. You couldn't turn on a Top 40 station all summer and not hear at least one, if not two, Def Leppard songs every hour. Such great childhood memories from that year.
Yes. At the time of this concert the album has very much under performed and it was looking like they were going to lose money on it because it cost a fortune to make. Then as you said, Pour Some Sugar came out a couple of months later and it launched them into the stratosphere becoming one of the biggest hard rock albums of all time. But at the time of this show they were sweating it a bit.
Amazing! Awesome performance all around. Damn these guys can sing their ass off! While Phil is good with his speed solos. Steve has the heart and good feel with his riffs and licks. That’s God given. The band was never the same after they lost him.
Too Late For Love and Hysteria had some of the best guitar riffs in the '80's Steve Clark was an underrated guitarist in his time, just one man's opinion, him and Phil were among the best teams in history!!!
I seen Def Leppard in 83 Pyromania tour I'll always love DF they were so amazing! I wished the kids today had what we had growing up real rock and roll music!
I saw DL on this tour back in ‘88 or ‘89. Queensryche opened for them to promote their Livecrime album. I was a QR fan too. They played to a disinterested audience. When Geoff Tate screamed, “Does anyone here believe in love?” the thousands of DL fan tween girls screamed. Then Tate said, “We’ll, I don’t,” and they kicked in to I don’t believe in love! I thought there was no way DL could follow that. But DL was awesome!!
I was at the Cal Expo show in Sacramento, CA on August 16, 1988 and this brings back good memories! I was 19 at the time. My one and only time seeing DL! It was hotter than hell that night and I was high as a kite! I remember driving to the show with my girlfriend, in my 1965 Mustang Fastback, and we over-heated on the freeway, we had to park in a commercial area about 1 mile from the venue. I miss the 80s so much, good times!
Just on the principle of sheer guts and determination, makes Rick Allen the best drummer in the world. No one else but him could have pulled it off. He has my undying respect.
I saw Def Leppard live a few times... one of the best bands live man seriously.... it's always heavier and a little faster than the studio tracks on the albums.... and they were always so tight man... like they practiced nonstop day and night.
Joining in after a long time after this show, but wanted to say hello to my Buddy Phay and all of you guys! From "Dr" Dave (U2 Crew) now in ARKANSAS of all places. Had a few crisis this summer and finally making it back into life's normal stage again. Lost my Son in 2016 but wife and I are still alive and kickin with the perverbial hole in our hearts that will never heal over our Son but Have to go on so we will see each other again in a place we all call heaven. TTYS Gents. God Bless and Keep on Rockin til you drop.
My first big concert, as a 14 year old hard rock/metal kid, was Def Leppard. March 1988, Skedsmohallen Norway. MSG as support (at that time McAuley Schenker Group). I've been to hundreds of concerts since then (including 3 more with Def), but still nothing comes close to that one! The 80's were a great time to grow up! Too bad the world lost one its greatest guitarists in january 1991...RIP Steve.
Thank God there's RUclips.. the place where you can relive the good old days.

Yes but Mutt Lange. There is a suspicious guitar solo.
The best tour of the 80's.
I've seen them many times at many ages, but I'm SOOOOO grateful I got to see them on this tour at the height of their awesomeness. Saw them at my college in Pullman WA that tour and it was AMAZING!
I’m somewhere in that crowd.. 🤘
Joe Elliots voice in top condition here!
He does sound fanstastic..
Love Joe's voice.. even now..but As much as they toured and as high as he sang, he did a great job of holding on to his voice.. they really were hitting the touring, road life scene by 78 and this is 88.. and it lasted well into the later 90's ..
Omg, also in the Song, 'Tonight'.........
Yup. The high harmonies also sound way better than their earlier shows too.
I know this comment is 4 years old , but just wanted to say he did NOT lose his right arm. He lost his left arm.
If anyone is building a time machine to go back to this concert, I am so in...
Yeah!!!
Best 80s and 90s time. There can't be any music band like them in modern times.
Yep
Pour Some Sugar On Me got its start in a FL strip club and took off from there.
Best live performance of this song EVER! I am so grateful that I got to see this tour live back in the day! ❤️
Compare with twerked Miley or any young singer these days and Def Leppard are unmatched like heaven and hell.. Def Leppard rules..
Amazing! Awesome performance all around. Damn these guys can sing their ass off! While Phil is good with his speed solos. Steve has the heart and good feel with his riffs and licks. That’s God given. The band was never the same after they lost him.
I'm 14. I wish I grew up to see young Def Leppard. I saw them last year. They were awesome.
I saw them this tour. I was 15.
My daughter says the same thing. I introduced her to the 70’s and 80’s music and she says we were so lucky back then to have music like this.
My very first concert... Big Mac arena in Denver, soooo amazing and lucky to of been there.
I’m 47 and I’ve never seen them. Ive always loved them, just never had a chance to catch them on tour.
Same I'm 13 and I'm so sad because I will never see they
The women at this concert are rocking out harder then the guys! Our women were bad ass back then!!!!
@kevinlampe2350 because the men were better
And I was one of them. GenX here, 55 & grew up in the best of times.
Yes! Yes we were!
Dude playing the drums with one arm plays better than most with 2... what a show!
Thunder God! xx
One of their absolute best songs. The guitars, the vocals, the melody, the bridge ~ it's all there.
Amazing Performance!!
R.I.P. Steve Clark.
The very loved band. The best concert. The best Drums, Stevy dancing and playing... what can we ask for? I love Def Leppard.
Yes yes I love Def leppard forever. 😍🎸🎤🎧
second. they were better in 83
The best drums ????? He`s got ONE arm for fucks sake.....!!!!!!
I still get goosebumps watching this! Best concert I’ve ever been to! (Houston). 🇬🇧🤘🇺🇸
I never get tired of them.
Too Late For Love and Hysteria had some of the best guitar riffs in the '80's Steve Clark was an underrated guitarist in his time, just one man's opinion, him and Phil were among the best teams in history!!!
The terror twins forever.
Really love the hysteria riff ❤️
You guys are AMAZING , THANKYOU RIP Steve

Bridman Marin verdad
I seen Def Leppard in 83 Pyromania tour I'll always love DF they were so amazing! I wished the kids today had what we had growing up real rock and roll music!
Def Leppard has always been one of my all time favorites! 🎶🎸🎤🤟
They had the energy to hold a concert in the round. What an epic opening...
They sound absolutely fantastic here. Joe’s at the top of his game here !!!!
He really is 🤘🏻
Canada Loves Deff LEPPARD...the band lives on !!!!
No way I would want to follow QR back then Goeff Tate was untouchable on vocals.
Best music! Best times! Period. Wish we still had Steve!
Glad this was recorded so I can experience this. I was born in the 90s.
Mitch I was born in 2006 how do you think I feel, how ever my mum and dad took me see them in 2018 on their 30th anniversary of hysteria tour
My condolences.
I had the pleasure of seeing them on the British leg of this tour...twice.
Lets not forget Rick Allen THE BEATMASTER
concerts will never be like this ever again.....depressing...
3 years later...you are still correct.
Steven Clark’s spin 💗💗 Best outfit of his in this footage!!❤️
Ah the energy in that arena and from the band, especially Joe! I miss seeing that liveliness. At least we have these videos to look back on.
What a CONSERT!! ; ) ; ) ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN HISTORY!!! Would be awesome to see them here in the 80s in Action!!
I was there! 😁
Got this DVD but Knowing others are watching this makes it even Better. Saw them 5x...My Fav Band...ya Think lol
Just on the principle of sheer guts and determination, makes Rick Allen the best drummer in the world. No one else but him could have pulled it off. He has my undying respect.
wow i was at this concert and it was great. Hard to believe its been 24 years.
Just curious; was the concert just as good for you wherever you were in the stadium - as watching this video of it?
Time machine location set cocaine check let's rock and roll fellas
Incredible isnt it, I was there as well.
@@ZitherManCan yes I'll answer for me of course, yes incredible
31 years ago.Unbelievable
Amazing sound quality for the time
Steve Clark had the magic touch. But don't forget of Collen, a fabulous player as well. The two combined made the band great.
THEY ALL MAKE THA BAND GREAT!! THAT'S WHY THEY R HALL OF FAMERS !!!!
Phil very underated imo
the terror twins EPIC.
@wesley wild You don't like High N Dry?!? 'The hell is wrong with you boy?
I saw Def Leppard live a few times... one of the best bands live man seriously.... it's always heavier and a little faster than the studio tracks on the albums.... and they were always so tight man... like they practiced nonstop day and night.
how is joe not one of the best singers of all time..never sounds bad
He IS one of the best singers of all time. They were just inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame three months ago.
Thank YOU!!!!!!
Never ever be another era like this. I'm glad I was there! ❤
Steve Clark.. Def Leppard never the same without him.
Junior/Senior in hs the good ole days. This is some of the best of what we had going on.
Damn that opening of Hysteria sends shivers!
Andrew hand, that's because of Steve. He was everything.
Nothing's left without him.
Just an empty spot where he used to be.😢
Charlottetown Spud how bout that ending though....
yes, yes it does. I even started tearing up haha
I don't care how old I get, this song will always rock.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
